It has been many, many, many years since I was in school and not really sure if this old dog can really learn new tricks.

I think majority of negative comments start when work is low and
they start looking for another job. I, for one, would rather be too busy and have to work an extra hour or 2 than not to have any work. Overhiring is the death of all of us, since we do not have a guaranteed income unless you are a team leader or hourly employee.

Failure to pay on time is another large problem that will produce negative comments.

If companies were actually above-board with the problems at their company before the hiring process is completed, a lot of this could be avoided.
Since it's a private group on Facebook, you have to click on "request to join group" sm
It takes about a day to be added after the request is put in.
Might be only the endocrine doc in a GI group, only the pacemaker doc in a cardio group, etc. nm

here's a link to the above study...

Yes, people who study law are on here
Thank you for the laugh, MT, though. We certainly do enjoy the humor.

I'm a quick study but it was immediate. Its so easy.

How about buying a set of SUM tapes to do some self study?

A few hints (sm)

Yes, Instant Text works very well with DQS.  The newest version has a button to automatically import your DQS AutoCorrect file, if you have one started.  Instant Text can be complex -- just set it up to NOT use markers and it will emulate Expanders you are used to.  Using marker keys does increase its function, but it takes quite a while to get used to them.

Cool thing about IT  is that as long as you save a copy of each report you do, you can have the program automatically compile your abbvs/expansions for you, saving tons of time.

Best way to make lots of lines on DQS is to save a copy of EVERY report and make a normal from it.  Save it in Notepad -- using Word or WordPad can mess up the formatting when you call the file in.

There's an old forum that is linked to from the Instant Text site that was written by a MQ DQS expert that has lots of tips.  Last time I checked the forum isn't being updated, but the existing information is valuable.  There's a description of an excellent way to save your reports and then access the files from the Windows toolbar (bottom of screen).  To save copy of report, just cut/paste into Notepad before sending the job.  DQS maintains a copy of the report on your hard drive for a few days if you forget; I know there are instructions on the forum for finding the directory in which the reports are kept, or you can just use Windows search function to look for a unique phrase in a report you've just sent -- that will show you the directory.

The problem with DQS, and with many platforms these days, is no payment for patient demographics, even when you're working on an account that doesn't import them automatically.  Before DQS the MQ platform I worked on (INET) paid for things like date of service/admission/discharge, requesting/referring physician names, courtesy copy name/address, etc.  If you do a lot of short reports, that really hurts.

Good luck.

Hints and advice
The generalizations will get you no answers or probably not satisfactory answers. What is "decent" to you may not be to others and vice versa.

Be specific. How do you define a decent family insurance premium, deductibles, copays?

How much PTO are you looking for?

I think more people will respond and you will get more information if you list specifically what you are looking for. They can compare what you are asking against their experience with employers and make recommendations.
Can you give any hints as to your primary?
like initials or what type of hospital (assuming it's a hospital account) it is?
Any hints as to a good second company?
Don't want you to be in a bad position for saying your company and getting a billion resumes... but have wondered about this constantly. Send a resume to Landmark, have not heard back. Still looking for supplemental income. Would like to keep MDI, but need a suggestion for work when times are lean. Any hint at all or direction would be well appreciated. Glad you are making it work!
Any tips/hints/advice, fellow MTs???

I am posting to ask my fellow MTs for some tips/hints/advice/suggestions.

I'm starting a new position tomorrow which uses the Meditech platform.

Yes, I know MediTech is rather antiquated, clunky, and a general pain.  It's the version where one cannot type into Word and paste into MediTech; everything has to be typed directly into MediTech.

It's been EONS since I've used MediTech and I'm going to be very rusty.  Does anyone have any quick tips, hints, or refreshers they can throw my way to make my transition back into time a bit less stressful?

I appreciate anything you guys can offer

Thinking about taking an IC position, any helpful hints???
Never have had an IC position, but thinking about one.  Company is Surgical Notes, but can't really find any info regarding good, bad or otherwise.  I have not yet tested for this company but they have sent a couple of forms to sign.  I am hesitant because of this.  Seems the order of business would be to test, discuss the position and then sign some type of confidentiality/disclosure agreement and contract, would that be correct?  Thanks for any insight.
Why so very few comments regarding Diskriter? Are comments by employees not permitted SM
on public forums. I have always been interested to see comments on this company, as they are constantly advertising and seem to have an attractive employee package. Unfortunately, never seeing comments on MT boards makes me extremely uneasy. I'm sure they could have stipulations in their contracts that prevent them from commenting, but even so I would expect to see good or bad comments even from ex-employees. Hmmm? Plus, if the anonymity is supposed to be in place on these boards, how can it hurt for employees to make a general comment, good or bad?
TransHealth has some that start the next month after you start work. nm

I would never work for her again.  Very moody, extremely picky.  She double checks to make sure there are 2 spaces after every period, not 1 and not 3.

Does anyone have any info on the MT group?  Thanks

Too many accounting problems - slow pay, bounced checks, short checks.
MT Group
I have worked for them, and regardless of Melanie's posting, I did have bounced checks, late checks, short checks.
You have that right. Where this group of SM
princes and princesses came from, who knows.  All these demands for certain hours, certain accounts---when you do give it to them the work is ATROCIOUS and they don't finish what they just demanded to have due to family, medical, pet emergency.
seems like one group is

describing their experience at a company and the defenders are attacking the individuals posting with characteric assassination.  Let's be adults here.

ABJ Group? Does anyone
know if they went out of business? Cannot find them anywhere, and their website is not there either.  I also have an email address, but it came back as undeliverable.  Anyone have any current information about them? Thanks.
Yes, there was a group of 12 or more. nm

Another group
I have been involved in starting groups with a specific purpose in mind before. What happens every time is that a bunch of different personalities get together for a common cause, then they start fighting over different ideas on how things should be done, lose sight of the original purpose, and the next thing you know it is like being back in the sandbox in kindergarden and nothing gets accomplished and the whole thing fizzels.
You really should not group all MTs together. nm
Not all of us whine, connive, or are disloyal. Personally, I am a very loyal IC. I show up and work when I say I will, produce top quality documents, and am appreciated by my accounts.

Maybe you have just come across a few bad apples, but not all of us have poor work ethics and personal values.

You should think before you write something so generic as this.
TT group

Isn't there a chat group on Twitter or Facebook for Transtech MTs??  How do you join it??

do not lump us all into that group, please!
Some of us out there still do what we say we are going to do, produce excellent quality work, and have plenty of experience. I just cannot find an honest employer who pays well these days. Seems there are issues on both sides of the fence! I am not sure what the solution is. Ideas? :-)
WestTran group
anybody know anything about WestTran group LLC.  the good, the bad,the ugly?!  Thanks!

They started a group of hospitals based in TN, and are adding them one at a time during the year.  Lots of ER and acute care positions, we get emails noting the new accounts and added positions.

Seriously? That's what The Group Formerly Known as AAMT SM
wants to do. We all take a test, send them lots of money and belong to their group. I'm sure it will be a lot of money. After all, it takes a lot to set up shop in Modesto, CA and, ohhh!, hope it wasn't in the line of those fires!

Truth is, most MT's cannot afford to join a union, if there were such a thing.
TT needs to get their own Yahoo Group or something
TransTech is such a good company so when the least thing goes wrong they immediately hop on here and announce it to the universe. It's called making adjustments, people.

If you can't handle it FIND ANOTHER JOB and stop taking over this board with the same old sad song every day.
Sorry about that, I truly didn't mean to put you all in 1 group. nm

Private group? Where?
Sorry, I know I must have missed something..haven't been here in a while. Is there a private TT group and where? TIA
You should not have quit that group
The only things not allowed are names of accounts and bashing other people.
TransTech group...sm

I think I saw a while back someone post something about a TT group?  Could someone please email me this info?

Thanks

I work for a group of doctors ...
that make up 5, and average 6 tapes a month ... that makes up about $800/month. The rest of my work is on word of mouth, and I do not charge by the line nor the hour, but rather by the length of time. I have never advertised, but I do get calls from practically all over the country to do medical transcription. As I said, none of these are for nationals. I have tried that route many many times, but to keep running out of work and constantly being switched from one account to another to another was nonproductive.
DSG=Dictation Services Group

They are a great group to work with and
if you are a good MT, very accommodating. Good Luck!
DSG (Dictation Services Group-GA)
Does anyone have any info as to why this company seems to be hiring a lot lately? Are they having a bit exodus of transcriptionists? Any info would be appreciated. I would consider working for DSG, but some recent posts and DSG's recent numerous ads make me leery. Thanks.
Dictation Services Group
Anyone know anything about this company...I saw they use DocQScribe according to the Job Seekers Board and they're looking for QA for all shifts. TIA!
Yes, DSG (Dictation Service Group) uses DQS.
nm
No, but they did hire a consulting group to take over the
management of the MTS, and things went downhill quickly from there. We started getting bombarded with e-mails daily regarding the backlog (even with little to nothing on the system), and then they became very demanding about working extra when the minutes started building. Primary and backup accounts were always caught up.
The only communication is through your account manager. Don't expect to hear back from anyone higher. You're just wasting your time.
One of the MDIs and/or Medware is probably in that group, too. nm

Dictation Services Group
Anyone currently working for this company care to comment on:

1. Workload
2. volume of ESL's
3. Are managers friendly and do they return emails?
4. Good benefits?

Dictation Services Group

good/bad?  I put in a resume for QA at MQ months ago and have been called back about it but it's a bunch of hurry up and wait speech--i'm supposed to get a position there but i'm applying elsewhere jic.  Saw the ad for Dictation Services Group QA position and thought I would apply...thoughts?

tia

DSG, Dictation Services Group.
I have seen varying opinions on DSG on this board in recent months and how some think that the company has gone down hill over the last year or so. I am curious as to whether others think that it is the whole company that is having the problems or if it is a case of the old DSG and DSG2 being run differently. I am with DSG2. I will say, like others that pay is always on time, although it is sad that that is a sign of a good company. I like the DocQScribe platform ok, although there are a lot of features that could be better, starting with the spell checker. I feel that there is a huge lack of good feedback, especially for newbies. Supervisors are extremely hard to get a hold of, especially at night, and even during the day emails go unanswered at least 3/4 of the time, but they don't want us to IM them. The few times I have gotten an IM answer to an email, it was short and factual to the point of being rude. I am not looking to chat, but a little common courtesy goes a long ways. And don't even get me started on the messages that come with the updates, that sound totally fake and desperate. Anyway, I was just wondering if this was a personal preference sort of thing or if it was that certain parts of the company are better than others.
