funny haha??
Actually the funny thing was that there was always just one I like them post - not that you would not use your name. I am glad you had no bad experiences, like I said that is one. No personal problem here - I put my running shows on some time ago. Sorry you took things so personally - was not my intention.
haha (but not really funny, it is sad). You can do so much better...(no message)
xx
Haha ... you're funny ... lol. nm

Haha! all too funny! sounds
like they require no experience on the executive level as well!

question - they don't pay for headers but who's to say they really don't charge for them?
I did for awhile
They pay by the page and when you break it down, it's about 5 cents a line.
No, it was awhile ago.
She called one day to set up an interview for the next. She never called. I sat and waited figuring she got busy and would be a little late, but nope.
I do, I've been with them for awhile.
v
OK, since you've been there awhile.
I'll give you that one - maybe I just haven't given it enough time. I've just had a LOT of trouble lately with technical issues, and that, in combination with learning new docs, can be a challenge. So, I guess they need to be given a chance. At least one thing is good - I'm busy as I could possibly want to be with them ... let's just hope it stays that way!
I quit my job awhile ago and am still SM

waiting for last check.  I've been informed that I have to wait until normal direct deposit day like everyone else.  I didn't argue with this person (figured it'd be a waste of my time), but aren't they supposed to--by law--pay you within 1 business day if you give them at least 3 days' notice?  I gave them 2 weeks' notice.

This happened to me a couple other times as well (with other MT companies).  I wonder why they think they don't have to obey the law??

Oh well, that's life!  I'm just glad I'm outta there! :)

Just Me

I worked for them as an IC for quite awhile
none of us ICs on the account I was on could log in. They just wiped us all out. Now, I know that's life as an IC, but not really - we sign a contract agreeing to work for them. They are supposed to give us notice or we are supposed to give them notice to terminate the contract. They didn't follow their end - pretty sad. I tried e-mailing and calling, no one would answer. Now, they're posting for a southern CA account with no ICs??? I think almost all of us that worked that account for them were ICs. Just got trained as an Editor - for nothing. Pitiful excuse for a company.
Thanks ... it will be awhile before I go to Vista anyway. nm

OK, everybody calm down. Anybody can have an off day once in awhile.
nm.
He left quite awhile ago...
Didn't sell it, just is heading up another offshore type company.
Work for awhile
I work for Medware and unless they lose their biggest account there will still be work here. Who knows though. It was a great company to work for!
not that I know of; employed there awhile.
x
Ochsner New Orleans was down for awhile..
they are coming in again. Ochsner Baton Rouge stayed up and running.
I haven't worked there in awhile but sm
It was a definite trade-off. The pay was just not good at all. However, on the plus side, they were good to work with and they assigned accounts that weren't bad. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay at that $$ and had to move on. You will have to weigh how much $$ you need, but I was nowhere near 9 or 10 cpl with over 10 yrs experience.
I got caught in a new job awhile back
that went dry for months and it really hurt me financially. Loved the job, loved the people but was on the brink of bankruptcy. My advice would be to keep the sure thing in these economic times. Good luck to you whatever you do.
I did, but it has been awhile. The quality of the work was

horrendous and it would have been easier to retype reports than to correct them.  The MTs kept making the same mistakes over and over again.  They also had some accounts that ESL didn't come close to describing them.  I am very good with ESL and routinely transcribe 85-90% ESLs, but these were some of the worst I've every come across, plus the sound quality was pitiful.

If you open your original post and towards the bottom click on related posts you'll find lots of info about SS as a company, that would be enough to help you decide if you want to work there at all.

Haha Hey, I know! ....
I'm not the pro-Spheris or pro-MQ cheerleader everyone thinks I am.

There are some items that could definitely use some tweaking or revamping!

Oh ok...haha....sm

I was about to say Hey, where is my downtime pay?  But that sounds like you have a great set-up with your job....at least you know you will get some sort of pay.  Too bad everyone doesn't get that!

HaHa

Haha!!

haha
Sorry, but I thought I was the only one living in BFE...LOL.
Haha
Medquist is now owned by Indians. I think people just left before they were let go down the road.
haha
...
Could you share your line rate? And keep you old job for awhile.
Sounds like you had better keep your old job until you see how much work you will get on DQS and how much you can make. It probably will be slow at first.
I worked there for awhile, couldn't make any sm
decent money. They changed their QA and guidelines and I made even less due to extra proofing, looking up in their Style book and the BOS which oftentimes conflicted. Their spellchecker was full of misspelled words.  Drugs were way outdated. Couldn't use my own word expander. Took about three weeks to get feedback sheets and sample reports. Wasn't worth it. I figured if I had to produce a superbly quality document, I would go elsewhere for more money.
I worked there part-time for awhile. sm
IC status, pay definitely on the low side, but I did clinic work and it was fairly easy with easy dictators.  They pay weekly and always on time.  Great people to work with.
I know they have been hiring on that account awhile so there is probably work. But,
I did refer a friend and they put her on that program to which she did not stay long and was very unhappy with her line count. She said it was a third of what she normally made so she quit. Honestly, I have never worked on that platform so I am not sure if she had a valid complaint or not or what else she was comparing it to. I say if the work is there, which I would think if they are offering a bonus, I would try it out and see if it works for you. It sounds like with your experience you would know the difference in line counts.
I have watched your posts for awhile and have debated about saying anything. sm

It is just my perception, of course, but your posts almost always seem rude and condescending, and I certainly hope that people do not think all of us who have been doing this for awhile think the way that you think.

Even those of us with wonderful jobs all have days where we want to scream and throw something and maybe need to vent a little with others who will understand.   I know my non-MT friends really do not have a clue when I want to blast off about some motor mouth or poor sound quality or whatever the gripe of the day might be.

And what is wrong with a sense of entitlement?  We are all entitled to the best that we can find for ourselves, at least that is how I was raised to think.  I realize that part of the job is doing the cruddy dictators and all of that, but do not think for one minute that I wouldn't take a dream job that paid well and had wonderful dictators and YES, think I was entitled to it for all of the hard work I have put in over the years.

Maybe this other person's boss IS a mental case -- who knows?  I know some days I feel that I am one too.  Maybe you should cut people some slack and try answering with compassion instead of rudeness and condemnation.   Everyone has a bad day.

However, for me, this is a beautiful day and I am going to get off of here and enjoy some time away from the keyboard.  Good luck to everyone in finding the perfect fit jobwise :-)

Sure, come here and keep it quiet. haha sm

haha, I think she just did, on this board!

haha - if it says "USA", then it's probably

LOL HAHA LMAO, etc.
Funny how all the people who claim to think VR is the greatest, simplest thing since the microwave also come back later to state that they have alternate sources of income. Based on their postings, I suspect some of their other income comes from writing fiction.
HaHa...you are contradicting yourself
You just said that you were supposed to start working around noon the other day. Why would you have to send an email saying that you would be starting late if you don't have a schedule? You are contradicting yourself.

I am done with the back and forth with you. If you like working for them, good for you. ICs are not supposed to be locked into a schedule like an employee. If you were truly an IC, there would be no need to email anyone to tell them that you were going to be starting 'late'.

The only reason an IC should have to email them is if they were not able to work at all on a particular day.

They are breaking the law and they will be dealt with. Me and one other person in this thread have worked there and been treated like an employee when we were ICs. I am sure there are others.
HAHA DUH...Guess what?
Those MTSO recruiters take valuable time to sift through hundreds of applications to try to pick out the most qualified, best 'fit' for an account. At what point do you feel that perhaps someone of perhaps a little less experience but a lot more flexibility didn't have her application tossed off the pile to make room for YOUR just-for-curiosity application?

You waste people's time, resources and money when you apply willy-nilly just to see 'what's out there' when the job market is so desperate right now.

So, I'm afraid that VERY mature DUH, HAHAHAHA is back on YOU, my fellow MT.

I'm not the one wasting everyone's time applying for jobs I really don't want when I'm happy where I'm at.

Haha! I can too! ANY defense at all of such
And might I just add, what slimy little WORMS all suits really are! They sell their integrity and their souls for their do-nothing jobs in an already top-heavy industry. Considering the mood of their workforce these days, I'd actually be SCARED to be one of them right now.
I did mostly car accidents and it really made me paranoid about driving for awhile, but I sure sm
knew if there was a solid yellow line, if my lights were on, if I had my seatbelt on, etc. lol
Maybe on your accts, especially if you've been there awhile. I think the newest hires are getting
s
I have been there awhile. The good posts are because over the past few years sm
they have really worked hard to improve employee relationships and it has worked. There are no problems there anymore. They used to say they were growing pains and we all wondered how long they could say that. Now I am glad I stuck it out because all the old problems (and I mean old being over 2 years or more) are gone. Great company to work for.
I worked for them PT awhile back -- 20 hours a week min., I think. nm

Awhile back, someone posted about a company that considered sm

30 hours a week to be FT with benefits.  Does anyone remember the name of that company?

Thanks so much.

Work both jobs for awhile, part time for the new one. Most
of the MTSO will understand your reluctance to quit your old job until you are sure the new one will work. I have worked for two companies in the past year and told both that I would have to work part time until I was comfortable quitting my old job. I ended up keeping my old job because the new ones didn't work out. Also, 1 cpl decrease in pay isn't that much to make up if the work is good. Hopefully, you won't have to sit around waiting for work, and you can follow the BOS which will be easier for you and probably help you transcribe fater.
Yes, MQ has known all these years. My typo!! Haha
...
20% increase in production - haha!
haven't they been repeating over and over to you that you WILL see a 20% increase in production RIGHT AWAY!! after you conquer DQS then they're going to throw ASR at you and swear up and down that you'll have a 25% in production and they're going to cut your baseline rate by 20% to become a Medical Editor -- doesn't that sound just peachy!! i recalculated my last check with my MT work and my ME work and it came out to be $50 less because of the 20% decrease on my baseline rate for the honor of doing ME work (i have until 10/1/05 before the cut takes place). Oh, but you have your choice of doing 100% MT work and keeping your baseline rate, but guess what you'll be getting the docs that the voice recognition system can't do, therefore, you will probably see a 25% decrease in production. Heck, now as it is, the VR program can't pick up the little words like an, and, in, etc right and it's even leaving out very, very clear words that a very, very clear dictator is saying, so you figure how you're going to have a 25% increase on production when you're pecking nonstop on the keyboard like when you first started typing on a manual typewriter?? Tell me again, how grateful we're supposed to be for working at MQ? And, yes, I know I can go to MTJobs.com and find another job, but you know what, there's principles and if we just walk away from how we're being treated we're just going to be treated like that at another MQ-like company. Something needs to be done so they know that we don't appreciate being treated like someone with a 5th grade education.
haha - actually I kinda' like it better as a DO-DO list! nm
.
Thanks so much for you message...haha...just curious
since they expect perfection do they pay okay?  THANKS!!
no idiot, been there and they suck haha
Let me know when you wanna play with the big people. On one job, I make $23/h plus incentive. Full benes. 20 weeks PTO/yr. Second job REAL IC pays 11 cpl including headers/spaces. Now, who is jealous? Not that you would admit it. LOL. Now, go make your hard earned sucky money LOL
Haha! LMAO! Right! What is PHASING?????nm
