I've been at Amphion for a little over a month now
and LOVE it!
What the heck? I've never heard that in the 8 yrs I've worked here. sm
Go back to your STM or over his or her head.
Me, too. I've made so little money this month that I can't even
make my house payment.  This is getting beyond ridiculous.  If it's not one thing, it's another.  I suppose I could go pawn my computer since I'm not getting any work.
I do. I worked for them for about a month
and had very, very little work. The owner was a little strange. QA had some unusual opinions about how things should be, too. Strange company. Not really bad, but not good either.
I've been there for just over a month now and am very pleased. Excellent support.nm
nm
I only worked for them a month and had not enough work.....sm
I sat around more waiting for something (work was pooled) than actually transcribing...Look elsewhere! There are way better companies out there.
When I worked there, it was a month. They withheld one
entire pay period before you got your check and that is a fact. It was not six weeks but it was a month, which is still too long plus it was not in the bank on time when it was supposed to be.
worked there for a month--hated it. nm
x
Been here about a month, but worked for them 3 years ago and never should have left.
I left the first time cuz DH (now my EX-DH) was less then cooperative to say the least.

I LOVE it here.
Every company I have worked for (5 total) has paid twice a month. sm
Every two weeks would be too hard to manage. I get paid on the 10th and 25th, so I pay all my bills on the 12th and 27th, which works out perfectly for me.
I've worked for both.
I prefer MDI-FL of the two. It also depends on what you're looking for out of a company. MDI-FL was far more flexible with regard to account assignment, work schedule, and line commitment. You've read the archives. There are pros and cons to each employer. My personal opinion is that MDI-FL is the better of the two. I'd go back there if I hadn't found my current position. Medware, never.
I've never actually worked for her, but she's
a very nice person.
I've worked for them before....
Usually that happens when they are waiting for the account to actually start up.  Just send her an email asking her about the status of the account/your start date.
I've never worked anywhere but MQ

until recently, but if you like the DocQScribe platform, you might want to look into DSG.  I tested and interviewed with them and was offered a decent pay of 9 cpl.  I originally accepted a position with them but ended up turning them down b/c they wanted more of a schedule commitment from me than I wanted to give.  For the short while that I was on their communication roster, they seemed to have a lot of work available in DSG-II and they offered bonuses almost every weekend to work extra that were paid back to the first line that you typed for the day it was offered.

The people I spoke with there seemed pretty nice.  Like I said, I never actually worked for them, but had I not wanted the true IC status, I would have.  I really liked the idea of working on DQS, especially since I'm not familiar with any of the other platforms out there (until now).

Good luck in whatever you decide.  There are a lot of archives on here for Keystrokes if you check.  Don't really know anything about Transcend other than the constant jobs they post.  That would kind of make me wonder, but maybe they've hit a growth spurt.  If you do end up at DSG, please email me and let me know what they're like.  If things don't work out with my new job, I may try them again.  The recruiter was open to that idea.

I've never worked for them, but -
I'd call (or at least email the recruiter) and find out if there's a problem, or if they've simply forgotten. As I indicated, I've never worked for them, but if I were waiting to start a job, I'd be shaking somebody's tree to find out the reason for hold up.

Good luck :-)
I've worked there....sm
and would have to say ditto on the other posters comments. Very nice people, pay up front, good communication, and I had pretty productive accounts with them. The pay is indeed low, but if the productivity is good and you like the company, that may all even out for you.
I've never worked for them

but if I had not decided to stay retired that is where I would have gone because I know someone who works for them (I trained her myself).  She's been there a number of years and all-in-all says she is quite happy.  Her pay is way above average although I didn't ask her if she knew what the starting rate is now.  One thing I did ask her is whether they ran out of work and she said almost never.  AND she doesn't do VR.  I didn't ask whether they have VR or not.

As I said a few days ago, this is second hand information and I have no first hand knowledge.  Probably not much help but I would suggest at least talking with them.  You never know until you try it for yourself.

Good luck!

I've worked 4 jobs before. I know what its like..
when money was tight, I got another job. (I had full-time MT job, waitressed at restaurant, bartended at a lounge, and cleaned and oversaw my apartment building) Did all that to move out of my parent's basement. That's how I am. Money's not so tight anymore because of BF, so now I have TIME to spend with my kids and I CAN appreciate that TIME because when I worked in-house, I didn't HAVE it. K. Enuf said.
I've worked for MDI over a year now
x
I've heard of them but have never worked for them.
Originally, it was a mother/daughter team in Montana.  Evidently now, the daughter's in Wisconsin but they still have an office in Montana.  Nice enough people.  I worked with the son-in-law for a while at another job.  The workload is easy, but I don't know how steady it is.  I applied with them when I was a newbie but found a job elsewhere for more pay.
Yes, they were the rudest QA I've ever worked with. nm
x
I've not worked for them directly, but have been...
in contact with the upper management off an on for other matters. Very personable, level-headed, and presumably much SANER than some other company higher-ups that we've all discussed here!
I've worked for MDI-MD for several years and no,
my liason either.  But that's okay.
This is wacky to me, too. I've worked there for 4 sm
years and paycheck has always been DD on time.  In fact, this time since Monday is a holiday it is in my checking account today.
Best company I've worked for. sm
The pay is a little low but it's worth it for good accounts and great management, not to mention the good benefits.
I've worked for both cos, and TT wins
hands down for me.

They are great to work with. The platform is great. You will not believe how wonderful and helpful QA people are compared to what some at the Q are getting now. The only time I've run out of work has been the occasional Monday for an hour or so, and some holidays were light on dictation. You'll have to work out your schedule with the recruiter, but they are very reasonable as long as they get the weekend coverage they need. I'm sure they will set you up as a split shift if you want. Not so sure about four 10-hour days, but you can always ask. They won't ever be ugly to you.
I'm with you - best place I've ever worked. sm
I can't believe anyone is running out of work within the company (except for this week of lower account volumes). Goes to show that there are at least two sides to every story!
Last 2 places I've worked I was off QA
after one day.
I've not worked on those accounts
x
I've worked for them not too long but so far
I think their work ethics and how they treat their employees far surpasses (in my eyes) my temporary lack of work. I've worked for too many nationals that treat me like pond scum, so I really like these people.
I've worked for several companies
and I would hate to be on a list like that - eeek!
I've worked for Archivus . . .
I started last year and it took them a long time to get back to me as well. I know they are hiring a new supervisor and this always seems to slow them down.

Pay depends on experience but I started at 8 cpl, including spaces. I did not have to type demographics as they came into the software automatically. I know they are currently switching to a new transcription platform, but I'm not sure what they are switching to. The old platform is Vianetta and it was very cumbersome.

The staff was very helpful and I love my supervisor. The account is about half ESL but only a couple are difficult. Pay is always as promised, on time, and direct deposited. I work as an IC.
I've worked there for over a year
yes we have Indian counterparts who handle our IT department, but our MTs are in the US. At least I'm pretty sure Georgia is in the US last time I checked....

I like the work, everyone I work with is pleasant, a few hiccups along the way but nothing crazy.

But hey, to each his own. Last time I checked just about every other US company had their IT based out of India, the Philippines, etc., but I don't see anyone going after them!

I've worked for them since November
I like them.  Pay is always on time.  People are great.  They leave you alone to do your work.
I've never worked for such a good company
I was contacted immediately after I tested. I wanted part-time work at night to try them out, so I worked 20 hours a week for them. After a month, I quit my other full-time job and went with them full-time. I've never seen such a fast platform. The benefits are incredible compared to other companies and the work is excellent. Good communication and accessability with co-workers and supervisors. Extra bonuses for what we had to do normally at other jobs. Direct deposit. company contributions to 401K. Earn vacation money from your first day on the job, and you don't lose it when/if you leave. I'm extremely happy with them.
Then why leave? I've worked for Spheris
I would let them keep their $500!
Either would be a good choice. I've worked for both.
In the archives, both companies have good and bad comments.  You have to weigh one against the other and whether you think someone is just disgruntled or not.  Both are better than MQ or Sph.
Yes, and it's the absolute worst. I've worked on a

nm

I've worked for them since July of last year...

and I started out with Express Scribe software and no foot pedal.  They never told me that I had to buy anything and they did provide the AAMT BOS, and medical spellchecker, and drug dictionary amongst other stuff that I am too tired to think about at this point.  Just an FYI.

Wow - tough question. I've only worked for 1 of those.
I just researched by what was most important to me.

Good luck in making your decision.

I've worked on the DOS system for 4 years
and have never had a problem with it; however, I've never worked for anyone else as an MT and consequently never worked on any other system than DOS. I'm making good money in my opinion and support myself and my daughter just fine on my income.
I've worked for MDI-MD very part time for many yrs
No, I've never gotten a Christmas bonus.  But they still are hands down the best company I have ever worked for and their gift to me is being a company that pays well every day.  I'd rather have that than a company that pays me 8 cpl and sends me a $50 Christmas gift.  The only reason I work for them very part time is that I have my own accounts in addition to working for MDI.  Someday when I'm older and more tired, I will give up my own accounts and work for MDI alone.
I've worked both per line and hourly..sm
so I wholeheartedly agree with you that, as an hourly MD, there's no justification for subquality work or passing the buck along to QA when not absolutely necessary.  Maybe that particular MT wanted to show how much work she could produce in so much time.  Neither is it justified by a production-paid MT.  It would be inexcusable in a regular state of affairs where, at one time, an MT was able to make a fair living, whereas most find it difficult if not impossible to scratch out minimum wage and having to do 8 hour's work of work in 12 or more hours.  But, as you did agree in your post, it is certainly understandable in the latter case.  MTs are fed up, burnt out, etc, and realize they're for the most part getting a rotten deal, especially as paid-per-line, home-based ones, and the bottom line, whereas it used to be quality work and being able to take pride in it being replaced by rushing to get enough work out to keep the lights on and kids fed.
I've made $35,000 for the years I worked there. SM

I would have to kill myself for $50,000 and I don't choose to do that.  I give you credit if you were able to achieve it.

The pay rate has been lowered there now, due to SR.   The rate of pay at MQ has always been higher, but this field is dying out where ever one goes.

I think I've always worked Christmas, and every other holiday, due to
Even when I worked in-house for a few hospitals, my schedule always seemed to fall where Christmas, New Year's, usually even Easter, fell on one of my regularly-scheduled work days.

When my daughter was younger, I was fortunate enough to work 6 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., so I was home early enough where we could still have pretty much a full day in front of us.

Now that she's older, I honestly don't mind working the holidays...There's a lot to be said for holiday pay when one works in-house. Since I'm now an IC from home, I can hop on and off throughout the day as I desire to get my lines and not feel as if I'm missing out on anything.

Nah, I don't mind working holidays.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Of those, I've only worked for MDI-MD, and they're GREAT...
Good luck on your decision. Sounds like you have some great opportunities from which to choose. Go with your instincts and I'm sure you'll do fine.
I love Transcend. I've worked for MANY
x
The staff are some of the nicest ppl I've ever worked with! sm
I worked for them a little over year ago. I'm pretty sure they paid for spaces. The only problem I had was trying to get a decent line count on the particular platform they had me on. As I mentioned above, the entire staff are super friendly, helpful, and made my experience there very positive. Good luck!
Every acct I've worked on at WMX is overflow sm
and you say something to the STMs about it, they insist it's not so.  I don't even think they know what an overflow account is.
I've worked for many nationals i.e. Webmedx, MDI-FL, Transcend, etc. and
I like Medquist the best.
I worked for TransTech briefly and it's not them. But I've never read that about
