I am a recruiter and sick and tired of the stipulations put on us by applicants. sm

You want the job, why should we bend over backwards, arrange our schedules, etc. What happened to actually working to get a job. Instead, it seems like everyone wants it handed to them on a silver platter.

I work Monday through Friday, 9a.m. to 5p.m. If that does not work for someone, they need to make arrangements to make it work. If you were in another industry and were interviewing, they would not stay late, work weekends, etc to accommodate you. Grow up and treat this as a career - you may be pleasantly surprised!

sick person going through applicants.
I haven't heard back yet either. I hope that because the person has been sick that it doesn't mean she will be rushed and use arbitrary criteria to reject people without reviewing all the tests. This happens a lot, I did that job off and on for many years and when busy, they tell you to thin the herd quickly meaning the tests/transcriptions are not thoroughly reviewed.
Sick and tired
Vent away! At least those of us on this board understand.
Anyone else sick and tired of the Emails

to work?  Geez people - if the MT isn't working the right hours - then FIRE THEM and stop sending me Emails when I've already put in my 8+ hours!  GET OVER IT!

Sick and tired of poor audio quality (sm)

that seems to get worse and worse as the days go by?  Remember when we were told that switching from tapes to digital would make all the difference in the world with regard to clarity and our production?   Remember when we were paid more and had plenty of work?  Remember when there was no working on Sundays or holidays?

Why is EVERYTHING MT going to the dumpster?

Why do these MTSOs accept reports dictated on cell phones?  Can't they write in their contracts that cell phone dictation is not clear and it can also be intercepted by others and therefore unacceptable?  Why don't the QA personnel who read our flagged comments about awful audio pass this information on to the client so that it can be fixed?  It's getting worse and worse.

Back in the days when I had my own accounts, one of my dictators asked me to please tell him as soon as his equipment malfunctioned (in those days, it was batteries running low or a tape that needed to be tossed and replaced).  He said there was no need for the MT to suffer with poor audio reports when there is a simple fix.  So, what's the difference here when the idiots dictate on cell phones?  Or there is a hospital phone with a short in it?  Why can't these things be fixed?

My plea:  If you are a QA person or MTSO getting repeated complaints about specific dictators' dictations being garbled or unclear, won't you please notify, and keep notifying the client until they are brought up to par.  How about sticking up for the MTs for a change rather than protecting the client all the time!?  In the end you are protecting everyone, including the poor patients whose reports are being dictated and transcribed.

I'm tired of MTs taking all the blame for this industry's downfall.  If MTSOs and clients demand 2-hour turn-around time, how about improving the technology to make your unending demands more attainable?  It's 2006.  There is no excuse for the garbage I have to listen to day after day.  No excuse at all.

Nope. We just get sick and tired of our company getting bashed
at every turn. We love this place and have run out of patience with posters like this who clearly have no idea what they are talking about.

Have you never lost your patience?
I am SOOO sick and tired of BEGGING for work!
Anyone know of a company that is hiring ICs, flexible scheduling, multispecialty clinic, at least 8 cents a line (shows my desperation...!), steady, dependable work flow for the most part, a company where you can stay and work for at least a few years straight. Any out there? Do not want MDI-MD. Do not want to be an employee - want to be an IC. Do not want any complicated platforms. Any smaller companies out there? I can't find jack lately, even with over 10 years experience. I need consistent work!
tired, tired, tired of all the tech
problems with these platforms.  I just want to work on an old fashioned program, like WP5.1 or Medrite, maybe with voice wave.  Too many problems.  Does anybody know any companies that use something like these.  Just call me a dinosaur lover.
100 applicants
Curious...Do you know if those positions have been filled? I tested too.
100 applicants
Curious...Do you know if those positions have been filled? I tested too.

I'm one of those applicants!
I'm one of the acute care applicants, we just got a mass email listing the days and times they want us to work (but they are flexible if something happens) and that they filled their radiology but will probably hire again in summer.

I'm glad to see this post...I know there are different opinions about companies so it is good to see some real opinions based on fact. I think if someone was bashing my company and possibly stating false accusations I'd threaten lawyers too!

Anyway, If anyone has tips for the testing and such let me know! :)
Unfortunately, they will get applicants,
There are 2 companies that I know of that pay less than this. They pay their ICs 4 cpl and 1.25-2 cpl for editing, yet they get tons of applicants from new grads hoping to get experience. I see new MTs on the Career Step forum all the time excited that they got their first job with these companies. To them, 5 cpl is a raise! It really is said how fast the rates are dropping. When I graduated, the norm was 7-8 cpl and my lowest offer was 6.5 cpl for employee status. That was only 3 years ago!
Yes and no. It depends on how well the other applicants did.
I've left blanks and been hired, but I've also left blanks and never heard from the company again. It doesn't necessarily exclude you unless someone aced the transcription test, which I've done that before, too.
Well, maybe they don't want US applicants to send pic?
Thanks for clarifying. I looked and to be honest, thought you had put the synthescribeofamerica.com link. i'm just crazy, lol.

Thanks again.
Any applicants who interviewed..
for DeVenture's radiology account starting next month heard anything back yet?  I had my interview almost 2 weeks ago and I can't wait no longer.
Iridium job applicants
Has anyone who applied for the oncology job at Iridium heard back from them?  I applied but haven't heard back and was wondering if anyone else has...maybe they're inundated with applicants.
Maybe potential applicants
will respond to the ad by pointing out the apparent history of nonpayment. We can deal with difficult aspects our jobs; we CANNOT tolerate working without timely pay.

I agree with the other poster- if there is even ONE legitimate IC/employee posting about nonpayment, an MTSO shouldn't be allowed to post job openings (until issue resolved).

Are all the bad applicants necessarily newbies?????

x

You should be grateful for, and consider, any applicants you get, cutesy or not. Do you really sm
think you are going to get professional experience MTs applying in this day and age?  LOL.  I think not.  But still, you need to publish the name of the company and provide a website, if you expect any qualified applicants.
TransTech has been flooded with applicants
They are so personable and devote as much time as necessary to each person and talk to you like you are an important person with a real life. I have never been happier in my life at a job whether sitting in an office somewhere or working remotely from home. My last job consisted of the holier-than-thou attitudes and treating me like I was about 2 years old, constantly being admonished for stupid crap. Debbie Hood and everyone else at TranTech are great. :)
Betcha most do (or at least get permission to), and applicants don't
nm
LOL, it DID look kinda like something Focus would do to get applicants....
We all need an occasional giggle...Thinking Focus posted that to attract applicants was pretty entertaining :-)
Can you imagine the 100s of applicants
I could not even imagine working in HR for TT right now! I would not apply there now, it would be impossible to try to stand out among all the applicants. Its crazy!!!!!
I have very few applicants who can even do easy clinic notes,
Hiring is can be a total nightmare.
Most applicants GROSSLY overestimate their abilities -
The worst was a former nurse of 20 or so years. She could not do the easiest clinic notes with no ESL doctors. Some days I would swear she was writing a fiction book because her transcription was THAT far off from what was dictated. She had very poor English skills and, if you can believe this one, seemingly little actual understanding of medicine or disease processes. She also claimed to have graduated from one of the top 3 schools, which we did verify. She was astounded when we let her go. I bet she found her way to some other service and is drifting around! Acute care? I would not have let her feed my fish, let alone be responsible for what can be the complex care of an acute patient!
No but it is my job to weed out applicants based on their resumes. sm
I cannot speak for Keystrokes, but I doubt any company would hire you with typos. This is in any industry, but especially in transcription. This is one of the first things you are told when you are looking for a job. I learned that back in college, and I was an engineering major, not anything to do with transcription.

I work for a company that is much larger than Keystrokes, and if they get half the garbage we get in resumes, they are definitely frustrated. I know I am!
I am grateful - for professional, mature, experienced applicants.
I'm not responsible for the voice recognition craze. Go blow somewhere else about that!

Doesn't matter whether you like it or not, the MT has to get past ME in order to get the job!

If you were one of the recent applicants for Advanced Transcription in Oregon ...SM
Are any of you still hearing back or is the hiring over, I wonder? I sent my application in but pretty late by the time I saw the message.

If any of you have started already, how do you like it? Are they really that flexible that you just log on and work when you want as long as you meet a minimum number of lines a week? How does the QA work...what if you have blanks?

I guess any info would be appreciated, even though I'm probably not going to get in on it this time around, it seems.

Thanks.
The recruiters (pleural) test and fill applicants based on (sm)
what accounts have needs and whether your skills and shifts requested fit those account needs.

Also, perhaps another recruiter filled the position they originally thought was open.

I do know there are some new accounts coming on soon and I hope many of the more qualified applicants are tested and ready to jump on board with us when they do.

It is a good place to work and worth waiting for an appropriate opening.

Also, call the recruiter and ask more questions if you want. They certainly won't bite.
SICK!
What the ____? He sent you a picture - what a psycho!

Tell me more!
LOL, sick!
x
sick
They said they have sick time. What's up with that?
GET SIck, WHY DON'T YA?!

I think MT work is seasonal anyway....people will always get sick, but the time of year can affect how often and how quick people decide to go to the doctor.  Plus, if it's surgery or other procedures, if people can plan when to do them, they probably haven't picked June or July - when many people are on vacation, or grandkids are coming to visit....

What is sick is that there may be SM

about 15 total people in the QA world doing this, but they hold a minimum of 30 jobs and it could be up to 50 jobs between those 15 people and that is just working for nationals!

For all of you QA people out there wondering where the jobs are, that's your answer.  I wish these companies could cross-check with their competitors to match names, they'd be really surprised at what is going on out there.

so sick of seeing these ads....
It makes me wanna vomit after a good laugh. All these IC positions, stating you MUST work this. You MUST do that. I'm so glad I have 2 jobs that are true IC positions. Of course I need to work to live, and I'm not lazy, but other than that, I do what I want, when I want, and how long I want. I am asked to help if can-NOT told. I do not get threats of being let go. These companies make me so sick.
And I'm getting really sick of
some of the people on this board (some, not all) jerking my emotions around. I have a conference call looming on my schedule for less than 4 hours from now, and I haven't got a clue what it will be about. And after reading this board this morning I am all but sick to my stomach with worry that it might mean I have to start job-hunting all over again.
Me too, sick of getting ripped off by SS
on a daily basis.  My lines at Softscript for the last 3 weeks since the server issue have dropped drastically.  I guess they think we cannot do math and only type.
feeling sick too!
I just wonder how many people here are just here to stir the pot and make everyone feel sick and scared and paranoid about their jobs?
feeling sick too!
Actually, I don't work for OSi, but work for another National that is always bashed on here. Things are changing here too and not very positive things are being said about changes and I was just making a general statement about people who like to make others feel paranoid about situations. But, I'm trying to look at it this way, there are thousands of MTs employed by my company and there are only a few here who are doing the bashing, so I'm trying to stay positive, but still a little afraid!!
Universal sick day
Been reading the posts about having an MT strike.  I agree with the comments about companies getting worse instead of better as far as paying IC and other transcriptionists.  We should just have a universal sick day (just one day) and see what chaos this causes.  May be it does not even have to be the whole day, just a couple of hours.
Anyone sick of Amphion??
I am sick of no work...I am sick of having to flex my time...I am sick of being accused of not making my line counts when they don't have work...I am sick of being a transcriptionist!
Sick of transcription
I, too, am SICK to almost being dead from being a transcriptionist, but being the only income for 4 people, stuck in the game.
SICK of this stuff
About TransTech!  They are the finest people in the business.  They would never do anything in a suspicious or ill mannered method involving line counting or anything else!  One might suggest if you work more and post less you would see a better line count.  It takes time to build up to a good line count, i.e. becoming familiar with the facility, with the authors, with the work types, building your word expander, and working diligently towards obtaining your goals, doing what it takes to achieve the line count goals you set for yourself, turning every stone in effort to achieve those goals before suggesting the line counts are not correct.  If the ESL are difficult, look at samples, invest in becoming more familiar with their way of speaking English. As far as EXTText for Word Client/Transnet/Dictaphone, I love the software.  Again from time to time, there may be issues, but for the most part, the software if very geared to good production for the MT.  I hope that all who read the posts about Transtech will be mature enough to make your decision by your own experience and not the experience of others.  I have been with TransTech for 4 years, and I am not saying everything is wonderful, we have our ups and downs which are almost always me and not them........but in all honesty they are the finest company with the best group of people I have ever worked with and for!  Thank you for reading my 2 cents on the line count saga!
I'm sick of set shifts as an IC.
THEN getting constant IMs to work when I'm supposed to be 'off'.  If you want me at your beck and call you better be giving me benefits!
So sick of oversears.
Thanks for the feedback :-)
This makes me sick
I gues they are no different than anyone else
you about making me sick....
You better be careful not to offend anyone who does clinic notes (and this is coming from someone who does acute care and clinic notes). People apply for positionS where they feel they will be quality productive. After all, it is quality these companies want from US MTs is it not? If you feel those who do clinic notes do not value their skill, you are very IGNORANT/ARROGANT!!!! Please explain who you are that you can judge an MT's smarts/skills by the specialty they do. How idiotic are you?? YOU MAKE ME SICK AND I REALLY HATE GLORIFIED MTs!!! UGH UGH!!
YOU KNOW WHAT? I am sick to death of your s/m
comments after every little post or question that anyone DARES to put on this board!

Yes, please go ahead and repsond in the most childish way possible (and I know you will, as that is all you know how to do, apparently). Obviously, after your continuous verbal abuse to almost every poster on here who dared to disagree with you (yesterday), you get your jollies off of belittling anyone you can get a hold of.

Now, if anyone else on here who is over the age of 12 would like to respond to this post in a helpful manner, please feel free. If you don't know the answer to my question, then just don't reply. Not that difficult, is it?

You, SIR, are immature and should move on from this board because you have nothing constructive to say whatsoever.

In all honesty, I feel sad for anyone (like you) who lives their life as you do on a daily basis. You must feel good about yourself each night when you lay your head on your pillow, after a day of insulting and berating. What an accomplishment. Get a life.

If you choose to respond in your usual scathing manner, please do. It will only solidify the opinion that many of us here likely hold about you. Here's your chance to really show all of us worthless and incapable human beings how tough you really are. The stage is yours.

For the record, I currently earn over 10 cents per line as an employee. Not a wimp, not weak, not ignorant. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Sick of nationals
Do not rule out larger private practices. I worked acute care for 13 years and then was outsourced. Then I spent 1 1/2 years messing around with Nationals and then found a position with a large orthopedic practice, 50+ docs. Very good benefits and I do work from home, though working from home was not an issue for me. With experience, these jobs are out there but you have to be willing to jump on them when they come up. Good luck.
PTO/sick time..sm

I know this is a dumb question, but I am considering testing for them.  So, when you are sick or want to take off, you schedule it with your supervisor right?  Then, it goes unpaid right?  Are they pretty flexible regarding time off?

I guess if I need a vacation, I would need to save up money for it.  How does it work for you?

Please excuse any typos.

I'm sick of psych
I'll email you my company info when I find another job...
sick and inundated
The person who does that has been sick and she is inundated with applicants. She is working through them. Please be patient.
