I don't believe docs can legally refuse to dictate, no matter what the motivation/justification. Physicians can be and, in fact, are suspended for delinquent dictation, so I might be wrong, but I don't believe they can refuse to dictate.

If docs DID refuse to dictate, it would cause me serious concern, because what kind of statement would that make about patient care, i.e., refusing to dictate unless the reports were transcribed by the MTs of their choice? No matter how disgruntled we may be, patient care has to be the #1 priority of every single person working in the health care industry.

Just don't see this happening but good luck with your quest...just don't get your hopes up too high.
