because you were posting this morning when I visited.  Am I to assume you've already secured employment somewhere or did you just decide to spend today and probably the rest of the weekend doing nothing about a job?

Same here, another day spent jumping from one..sm
account to another trying to get my lines.  My primary does not have enough crumbs to keep a mouse alive!  I keep on keeping on but am actively looking for another job now. 
Time spent in demographics
Are there any company platforms out there where the demographics are already in place?  I could just scream sometimes trying to be a detective to get all the demographics in place only to have a one-liner follow.  Sigh... is it just me or are there others with the same frustration.  It's difficult to make rate when demographics have to be researched and the patient name sounds like Blavopvoskitapove.  Thanks for any clues on this. 
you didn't factor in what you would have spent

working in an office - clothes, shoes, gas, vehicle wear-and-tear, driving in bad weather, lunches, travel time (what's your time worth to you), make-up (I only wear make-up when I'm going out), laundry (I wear my sweats twice before washing), office donations/kids selling stuff, manicures/pedicures, pantyhose (I count that separate from clothes cuz it's a PITA to wear).


Then there's all the stuff you miss out on cuz you're working - kids' school programs, ball games, dance recitals, on and on. 


I'd love to make more than 9 cpl, but the truth is a lot of us don't even make that.  You have to weigh the good with the bad.  I'd rather make a little less than have all the stuff above to deal with.  I never got in this biz to become a millionaire.  I got it in to be home and I wouldn't give that up for a few extra bucks!!!!

I agree that the QA person there was very rude in the short time I stayed (believe me it wasn't long).
I just spent a lot of time checking the web and the
personally attempt it. Maybe you will get some good feedback from people who actually work there, but there was enough information here for me to realize it may not be the place for me personally... I will see if you get any responses, because I am wondering if there are good things there too... Good luck to you!

Soulmates....I think if people spent more energy
on positive things, they'd have quite a lot more to offer this new company.  If we all sit around feeling sorry for oh my where has this profession gone or we're doomed, then that is what the outcome will be.  Show the new owner that you care and just do a good job.  People do lose their jobs in this profession.  It is NOT ALWAYS to another country.  There are U.S. MTs that will underbid you in a heartbeat and get the job done just as well.  Everyone wants to blame offshoring, but I do not believe that to be the case in every instance that someone loses an account.  You'll read posts, I lost my account, but never the details of well I was two months behind and really didn't care about when and how I got the work done.  Doesn't everyone look for someone to blame?  I call these kinds of people blamers.  JMO.

I spent years in the hospital setting
had no clue about working from home, did not know there were companies even doing transcription from home. What also gets me is the fact that people will state they do not have work, sitting by waiting for it to come in, working all kind of weird hours to make a line count. It is no wonder and the MTers are to blame if the companies take advantage of them because they let them. How one can wait on work day after day is a mystery to me.

was so good. Which is more important to you? Sounds to me like you'd rather take the one with the type of work you enjoy more. It didn't hurt me to do that work all that time. The money was so good, it made it seem more enjoyable. Isn't it so nice though that you have a choice!

I left them not long ago. Way too much time spent talking to
tech support because of technical problems or glitches with their system. I probably averaged 90 minutes a day down-time trying to get everything in order. Their transcription platform is not the best in the world from what I saw.

That is why I left. I spent days sitting in front of the computer, checking for
work every 5 minutes (or less) for 8+ hours trying to get work. On my days off I used to work 12+ hour days to make up lines, but then they hired people for Friday-Monday work and then there wasn't extra work to make up lines. I would get up at 3 or 4 a.m. and try to get work. I gave it a good try, frequently asked STM for more work, went over her head. They didn't seem to care, meanwhile I'm taking $300 to $400/month out of savings to cover my bills.
TransTech and low/no work for months and months _ don't think there are continous holidays LOL

This HORRIBLE low/no work situation has been going on at TT for almost a year now.  You can't convince me it is due to Memorial Day.  Are holidays now assigned in this world to being daily. 


That is an excuse these companies use in these no work situations, but it is due to their OVERHIRING.  Holidays just come on a daily basis, but LOW WORK/NO WORK is happening and has happened going on a year now at TransTech.  Always asking to flex into the middle of the night, EVERY weekend, etc. 


The TT mgmt checks are NEVER affected, tho, so they can continue to HIRE EVERY MT who gives them a call, and create a NO WORK situation for all of us.  The newbie MT's are cheering at first, but then realize that it hit them in the paycheck, too, and very soon it did!!!!!!!

There is no roster to pull patient names from, so you have to type what the docs say, and those ER docs speak at lightening speed.  I spent more time trying to get the patient name right than I did typing the report.  I really, really hated that.

As far as your reasons for job hopping, it makes me no nevermind, I was simply pointing out the fact that you've had four jobs in 15 years.  In my opinion, that is a lot of jobs to have in that span of time.  I had the same employer for 15+ years and have serviced the same accounts for 10+.  Longevity equals production in this business. 


I think that many promises are made to these MTs by these MTSOs, and then the promises are broken.  I think that causes a sour taste.  Let's face it.  Business is business.

on the board. I must have struck a nerve with you for you to be so insulted. What's with "get over yourself" - just because I'm happy with my company and you probably aren't - means what? That I think I'm better than everyone? Don't think so. You should try being more positive, you might be more pleasant.

Stating the name of a job position
I had though that all job ads posted had to state the name of the company; however, there is one posted by an MTRecruiter who seems to be looking for different companies.  Shouldn't that person name the companies who he/she is recruiting for?  Thanks.

Op notes are all I do for MQ and my other job.  They just didn't want to pay me 9 cpl and they dropped me to 7 cpl on er reports.  It is an awful company to work for.  I would not go there in any way, shape or form.

If the companies don't want to set up auto e-mail they don't want to. you aren't going to change them. Grow up. Not being nasty just to the point.
This might be stating the obvious but...
Make sure you make the corrections and save the revised document!

I updated my resume and saved it, but when I went to send it out realized I had not updated my email address. I updated it on the resume I was sending out at that particular moment, but forgot to change it and save it in Word. After I had to correct it 3-4 times as I went to send it, I FINALLY remembered to go into the actual document, make the change and save it.

Sometimes I really wonder how I function in day to day life, I'm such a scatterbrain, lol!!!

I'm not being rude. The OP is stating she is lacking
work, and you give her a lecture related to your problems. Again, apples and oranges. That means opposite! So you slacked off and caused the company problems, etc. Unless you know the OP personally and are accusing her of same, your post is irrelevant. Are you helping her get work? Are you answering her question why there is no work for her? No, you turned her post into your own post! Help the lady out and answer her questions - she didn't ask for your work history, etc. Nothing said negative about the company, so you're rather protective. Unless, as often happens here, a whole thread was deleted by now and I missed it! Peace to you! Just trying to point out that your post is not helpful or on topic of the original questions!

Wow! What remarkable perceptive powers you must possess to be able to glean personal information from a 2-line post! If you ever get tired of QA, do consider the Psychic Friends' Network. Seriously though, what you refer to as ''answers'' and ''corrections'' are more often personal preferences (varying from QA to QA) and petty nit-picking about poorly communicated, ever-changing rules. You might want to examine, though, why you are emotional and upset enough to post rambling diatribes over MTs comparing their work experiences and pet peeves on an MT forum. Thanks for the heartfelt holiday wishes though (so good to know that you love me!) and for your approval to ''say what you have to if you must''. LOL!

But Amphion has just informed me that they are letting me go because I am not making their line count and its the end of probation.  I don't know if it is all the extra stuff I had to do in the document information screen before being able to type or I'm just stupid, but I have always made like counts before and have never ever been let go from an MT job before or any job for that matter.  I am not going to badmouth them but it is a very bad feeling when I know I did my best.  I'm not a newbie either, I have 9 years under my belt.

Don't feel bad, I just started there and I know I am not going to be able to meet their line counts with all the looking up things and a different doctor every report. I also have never had trouble meeting line counts before, but this is a joke. Just move on and chalk it up to experience.

and had 100% quality. No one is going to just take your word for it with a comment like that. I am not even in QA and thought the exact same thing when I read the post - I could not help but notice the errors.

I am the person you are talking about. I am not QAd once a year. Where you got that from, dreaming I guess. We are checked every 3 months with pulled reports. In between those 3 months we also are checked and hear back from QA and also if the hospital I do work for has any issues, also hear from them. My QA has never been 97 and last time was a 99%. I am glad my initials are on the report because I stand behind all work that I do. Oh, I might be fast but was told by the higher ups at my company we have even faster. Sorry you cannot make it on VR, quit hating.

They pay their MTs the equivalent of about $135/month US, which for the year is more than 3 times their national average of about $500/year US.  My electric bill is over $135/month.

My company has been low on work for months and months..sm
Tired of getting the same ol' message that things will pick up.  I remember the days of bonuses, making money and being able to pay my bills!  I am also wondering what is going with these companies not having work.  Is everybody sending work overseas?
I received an email from JG stating spaces would
be paid now too. Got it at 9:19 a.m. with a follow up email 4 minutes later stating for clarification, this is permanent.
That post was not a whine. It was just stating facts. sm
I love my job. I love the challenge and the sense of accomplishment. I feel proud of what Keystrokes has become because I have contributed to this success and growth.

Not all of our MTs are problematic, but life sometimes gets in the way of working, and as a KS manager, I help out where I can. This is my job, and I love it, but I realize that it is not for everyone. I am blessed to do something I love for a company I love to work for.

Lots of posts in archives stating that it is
a Indian run company.  Supposedly they have a U.S. storefront office in MA.  Turnover is very high, which is why they constantly have ads running.  The only good thing I've ever heard about them is they will hire newbies.  They pretty much have to because an experienced MT would not want to work for them unless they couldn't find a job elsewhere.
