I hate it and I am making about $200 bucks less a month. sm

I miss doing straight transcription, but I can't find any companies with steady work doing straight transcription.  I am forced to do VR now and am making about 200 bucks less a month on eScription platform.

GREAT - so as long as the next cut is under 32% we will still be making big bucks, right? nm
.
Unlimited long distance for 50 bucks a month.nm
nm
Hunred bucks says it's TT - exactly why I left after a month. Happy now.

Is anyone making around 4K a month and if so where?
nm
If most are only making that much per month
they definitely should find another line of work. Why stay and be irritated beyond belief to make chump change? I would definitely go to Walmart or 7-11 if I did not make more than that and I only work part-time.
I have never heard of an MT making 1K per month
I make MUCH more than that....more like 1K per week and if it was per month of course I would find a new profession!
How much per month are you making, - equipment fees?
x
We are hiring for 4 right now but there are 20 in the next month to two months starting. No making

IS THIS WHY THEY PAY US THE BIG BUCKS..SM
like, who among us can even afford $2,500 yearly for something so ludicrous?
called big bucks usually do not....sm
SIT on forum boards 24/7/365...........*lolol*
Your the QA person getting the bucks- you can
--------MHS
64 bucks a DAY? Not very cheap! Especially
*
Bingo. You won 100 bucks.
nm
Well even at 14-15 bucks an hour sm
as an employee with benefits, it is still pretty good given todays employment climate. Im like some of the other posters here, still have to pay bills and sitting around waiting for the big bucks is not paying the bills. 14-15 bucks an hour works for me until if and when something better comes along.

I just don't get this whole mindset of because someone is not getting the pay they want, they won't work at all and then complain about having no money and not being able to pay bills.

I am 54 years old, been in this business almost 32 years. Call me old fashioned or stupid, but it makes no sense to me if the jobs are not there, why one would not take the jobs that are there until something better comes along........if it ever does.
At least 40 bucks an hour is what we are worth - nm
nm
Didn't your outside job with the big bucks work out? We were hoping for ya..nm
a
there is NO WAY I would work for 9 bucks an hour!!! What is the email
address??? I would LOVE to email them and tell them how crazy they are!!!
1200 lines at 3 cpl equals 36 bucks
You can work at 7-11 for that kind of money.
You won't make big bucks like that unless you own your own service or have only private clients.
s
I was told several new accts are coming on this month and also next month, so
I'm not worrying.
Pay period goes from 1st of the month to the 15th, then 16th to the end of the month. sm

So, I guess you could maybe get by with less than 1000 a day, although the incentive tier would make it worth your while to do a bit more.  I am using ExText, and yes, I find it easy to use, but then I used it for a year with another company.  I think their other platform is Mongoose, and I know nothing about that, so really cannot say.

Yes, they are hiring now.  In fact, there is a $500 sign-on bonus.  I think it is all just acute care.  I'm sure they would love to have someone with your experience.  Rhonda Durham is the recruiter.  I am sure she could answer any of your questions.  I am happy to help too, if I can, but I am relatively new.  The account I am working on is mostly psych, it seems, and I am loving it.

Another nice thing, their benefits start after 60 days, not 90 like most.

Good luck to you.

Wait a minute now..before you sink a bunch of bucks in books..sm
I've been at this for many years and I have about 18 books that I've acquired over the years. Since I started working using internet-based platforms, I rarely have to open those books..just Google gets it most of the time even quicker. Oh, yeah and the 150 bucks I sunk into SmartType..well, it's been sitting on the shelf for 6 years now. The internet-based platforms and most others have their own expanders. A good basic word book from Stedmans or Sloans should be adequate for a newcomer; but some companies provide these as well or offer a discount. So, bascially, between Google and company-provided Expanders and equipment along with reimbursements for phone line/web access, start-up cost should be quite minimal now.
Go to your State Labor Board & for a few bucks, file a complaint.
X
is the deductible for insurance still 2500 bucks w/ no copay for doc visit?
That is the sole reason I quit. That and the fact they switched me from account to account as soon as I started making a decent line rate with one.

They also have the ability to slow down how fast you can download files. They slipped and told me that it was to help control traffic on the server.
Ok - here ya go. I went from making $1800 per pay period to making just under $900.
Is that significant enough for you? Believe us, we are not just being negative with a grudge or anything like that. This is real! A month later, I was gone from there fast!
My job is working out splendidly, I wouldn't say big bucks, but good pay and nice people. sm
I am just looking for something to do in the evening and weekends.  I am going to the job during the week daytime hours.  I miss transcribing as it is not transcribing.  Thanks for your concern.  But, yes this job I am working at during the day is a breath of fresh air compared to trying to sort through transcription companies, trying to figure out how they pay, by the character, by the 65 character count line or gross lines.  I really am enjoying the people the place too.  I would recommend trying an out of the house job for everyone on this board that can!
If you can transcribe 175 lph, that is 14 bucks an hour. I wouldn't call that chump change. sm
Working for minimum, or barely above minimum flipping burgers or cashiering at WalMart is chump change in my opinion.
TransHealth starts 1st day of month after month SM
you start, BC/BS, good rate on single, don't know about family premium.
Last month was slow on my account..but this month (sm)
we've been swamped...
The new insurance is very reasonable. I pay $200/month and they pay $200/month. sm
Unfortunately, I have had to use it a lot since it changed and I am very happy. They have covered everything.

The insurance is actually $80 cheaper per month than I paid at the local hospital, which is a large employer.

I hate to say it, but MQ does. nm

come on now, don't hate
/
I hate to tell you this, but (sm)

I have over 35 years experience as an MT, and I have never done a resume in my life.  I'm afraid if I had to do one, it might not meet your rigid standards of professionalism.  I am an excellent MT, and you would be the one losing out.  BTW, this is absolutely true.  I have never needed a resume.  I have only had about 5 jobs in my entire career as an MT, and I know so many people in this profession that one has never been needed - so Heaven forbid, I would ever want to go to work for your company - and you would be the loser.

Well, there's nothing I hate more... sm
...than being at the bottom of someone's DO-DO list.

Thanks for the laugh in an otherwise testy thread, even if it was just a typo! ;-)
I hate to even ask but...
what exactly does it mean to be incorporated? I feel silly not knowing, but I'll never know if I don't ask, right?
Oh I hate that!
I used work for a company who made all of their MTs have Yahoo messenger open practically 24/7. If they didn't see you online, they would call you to find out why!!! They would constantly message me on my days off, or even when I set to appear offline! I would wake up in the morning and go to my computer to find tons of instant messages from like 4 in the morning! I am SO glad that the company I am with now doesn't do that! To me, if a company tells me that I have to give them my IM address, it would be a huge turnoff. It's kind of like a leash.
hate my job
I hate the last part-time job I took learning ESLs and working 1 to 8 p.m., but I must admit I have had work this summer when there were other people even with this company who didn't.  Just depends on what your pocketbook can weather.
Ugh, I hate it but I do what I have too...sm
I work EVERY Friday night and Saturday night. I absolutely HATE my schedule but my kids have to eat, right? Plus I worry sometimes that all they will remember of their childhood is me working at night, missing out on things and then napping or sleeping the rest of the time. The economy around here is AWFUL. I have been looking/interviewing for a job outside the home since two years ago. NOTHING.
I hate
That is, unfortunately, about the rate for VR. I worked at Lartech for about a year and it was 3 cpl. I started out doing VR and when I switched companies I started doing straight transcription. I went from struggling with VR editing to what would have equaled 700 transcribed lines per day (editing of 1400 basically) up to 1500+ lines a day not even working as much as I had at Lartech. VR totally brings your time down and they dont pay squat! I read somewhere that the companies got paid the SAME amount from the hospitals whether or not it was VR or straight transcription. I have a feeling companies are lining their pockets left and right because of VR.
I hate to say it, but this is well said.
nm
I really hate to say this, but

go to MedQuist.  You have to be able to pass the test but at least there you can gain experience fast.  Also, after there for a year, you can leave.

I hate working there but anyone can do a year of it.

I don't know if they let you use books for the test or if it is timed or not.  Maybe someone else knows, but a lot of the bigger places let you use books.  Look up everything.

What I really hate to see is
people who do not want to work on VR for whatever reason come here and throw out, for example, less experienced, slower, etc. and that is what happens. If you don’t like, fine, work until your job switches you over and then find another job and then, well you can finish this thought out. To assume, like is about 98% of the time done with VR, is just wrong and that is what I am talking about. The first person said they had experience of 30 years and then went on to say less experienced, well she has less experience than I do and so?
Do I hate it?

Well, HATE is a strong word.  I probably don't hate it as much as I hate war, murder, oppression and hominy, but I pretty much dislike it the way it is now.  The thing is, I have hung on, keeping hope that it would get better, that I would find the perfect niche for me in this industry, and it just isn't happening.

It does to me too but I hate to think
That it's a company I contract with :-(
I'd hate to think that! NM
NM
Hate this
I hate this, too. I had planned to spend the rest of my career here and made many sacrifices (working extra, working when my family wanted to be with them, etc. etc., so much so that it caused difficulties in my family because I was ALWAYS TYPING) and I am sure you all did, too. The MDI we thought we knew is dead. As to how anyone could do such a 180, if I had to guess, I would say it has to do with cold, hard cash. When I was a little kid, my father used to say EVERYONE HAS HIS PRICE. I always thought that was a cynical point of view but now I have to ask, is that true? Again, I have said before, she had an absolute right to do whatever she wants to with HER company but I also think there is a moral and ethical duty to take care of the workers who have made you such a success. It is kind of like we are the MT world equivalent of a one-night stand. Wham, bam, thankya maam. This business of sitting in front of my computer with no work for three months and no explanations and no answers will haunt me forever. It will be a long time before I trust too many people again......How sad. How very, very sad.
Don't you just hate that? sm
I haven't applied with them, so not much help there. But, I've been filling out apps, testing, sending resumes all day. This is SO stressful. You just don't even know what sort of company they are, will you get the schedule you need, will the dictators be decent, is their sound quality decent. Soooooo stressful. Sorry I rambled and wasn't much help for you. Hang in there! :)
I hate being left out...sm
another post mentions Douglasville. Georgia, perhaps, cause that's where I'm at...please tell me, I wanna know...I hate being left out...
hate MEDSCRIBE

aNYONE else here despise Medscribe and their corny contests and their rude way of putting their MTs down verbally in emails and on the phone.  It's like an old fashioned factory.  UGH.  Let me outta here.

They are biatches.

I hate Spheris too
Indian givers. That's a nice way of putting it. They are liars, cheaters and users. I need to start looking. I should have started looking years ago. What took me so long to see through them?
Thank you! I hate to see people get taken
like this with the liability issue. It is a nonissue with us.
