I worked with them for 3 months last year and out of the 3 months that I worked there, my pay was weeks late 4 times in a row!  At Christmas time to beat it all.  And they gave us no warning although they apologized for it and paid our overdraft fees.  The supervisors are trouble makers and they BUG you CONTINOUSLY with IM.  They had a great account and lost it due to unprofessionalism.  I have MANY years experience and was only paid 8-1/2 cents acute care.  I know what you mean about not wanting to make your situation worse.  Trust me - stay away from them or you will be VERY SORRY...a lot of headache and disappointment.

Their platform is not very user friendly.  They do pay on time though and their line rate was pretty fair.  They switched the original agreed upon schedule on me since there was no work on one particular day that I was scheduled, but if you are flexible, that might not bother you.  Good luck.

and what this and other MTSOs are not realizing is that much if not all critism here is not meant as an UNfair attack. It's a vent board for one thing. :)

What galls me are the MTSOs who won't discuss the problems *before* you quit, much less take responsibility for true problems, but then want to protest when they see negatives posted...

No company is perfect. Been at Transcend since August, and they have been fair to me and I do have plenty of work and I do work on a cardiology account exclusively.

micromanage bit and flexing time. Sometimes have to check your computer for 24 hours straight to find enough work.

It is great to work at home and take care of you kids....I do. But that is NOT why I got into MT. That is a problem nowadays...people only get into MT to work at home and/or take care of their kids. Not everyone is cut out for MT and it is showing with this type of mentality and the quality that comes along :(

Since we are not employees but are independently contracted. Technically I would think that makes a huge difference. I'm sure the referred to lists are management, technical support, things like that. I would assume as ICs we fall into a separate category.

I'm sure there's another list with the names of the MTs dealt with in another section of this deal, that our contracts are in effect until January 2010 and then it's up to Transcend to keep us or can us at their discretion.
I agree, I think we all tend to be brainwashed
into thinking we are worth nothing and the Nationals CEOs, etc., deserve vacation homes, limosines, high priced cars, etc, and we deserve no raises, decreased rates as soon as they put their minds on how to do it. I have had personally a decrease every year, but my rent goes up, utilities, groceries. Even a good platform doesn't matter if the managers cream the good dictation for their quotas and leave junk for the rest of us. You can't tell me every hospital in America is 90% ESL, and bad ones at that, yet that is what they tell us. They do it because they can!

Maybe we should start a new, underground-ish, no-holds barred MT site where a person can speak their mind without fear of erasure!

Not to sound paranoid, but I tend to agree.
They control the work pools and can make your day as easy or as hard as they like. Before I asked why I was being switched around all the time, the line count was at least achievable. Afterwards, perhaps as my punishment, it became even worse. All different account specifics, all parts of the country, thousands of different doctors. Finally gave up. I took my 6 years of acute care and went somewhere else.

Another reason to be happy I'm working at home -- no explosions from bosses OR co-workers to endure. 
Only time I tend to run out is last weekend of payperiod when OT has been (sm)
authorized starting on Friday. Not too worried, looks like they are hiring more. Makes me think they are anticipating a new account and want to get people on and trained and ready.

This company is too good for me to give up on.

When the account i was given had shortage of work, i asked for and received another account. I almost never have a shortage of work now.

If I ever get a life, I might give it a try.  Somehow a picture of an old woman hunched over her keyboard, listing hobbies as eat, sleep,and work, probably is not newsworthy  .. LOL. 
I can do that as I expect a lot of places are holding off hiring now because work does tend to get a
little slow at this time of the year.  I can manage with what I have until January. 
I can't afford to stay with VR. If they paid more, I'd stay.
The situation sucks. I really liked this company when I started there. I know they read these forums, and they are aware that we are unhappy over VR line rates. They stroke us with cute emails and say we're the best, but I can't feed my family on praise. They're turning into another MedQuist, and so I'll be leaving.
Stay low and stay very, very quiet. Do not
ask questions, do not talk to the supervisors unless forced to. The answer will always be the same, that you are the only one who has an issue, everything else is perfect. Never mention anyone's name. This place has the mentality of the Borg, everyone has been assimilated, which means if your supervisor does not like you, or does not like your friend, you have no chance. You associate with so and so, so you are exactly like them. That quickly goes through the Borg network and every team lead, ROM, and person in management, including HR, is aware of it. You'll be labeled a trouble maker and your life will not be worth living. Any trial to clear your name will be done in the fashion of the trial of witches. You are in a dunking chair - if you drown you are innocent but it is too late by then.

Remember, a ROM never makes a mistake and never tells something that isn't true. They are perfect (and nastier than a pack of hiennas.)

If you run out of work, it is your fault. You are just lazy. Can't make enough to take care of your family? Too bad, you need to work harder.

And forget getting an answer from management. It doesn't
happen. So, as before, stay low and very quiet.

And do a good job? You can be assured that if you do a good job, do what you are supposed to do, and stay quiet, no one will even recognize your name. They have no idea where you work, what your schedule is, or that you even belong to Transcend.

I worked for them for a little while several years back. They might have disorganization issues, but they are a local Texas company and to my knowledge do not outsource. The people who own it are super nice, honest people.

This is not the Global that you are talking about - this is a very small company in my area. They hire locally. I appreciated getting the experience, I dislike this man coming to me when he needs help on an in-house position, when he has work that could be done at home.

Global InfoSystems or the other Global?  If it is Global InfoSystems, they hardly have work, they are liars, and they will lie in your face every chance they get.  So you may want to consider that if that is the one you are referring to.

You know - I left there 2 weeks ago.  I know from a past experience - this company holds checks.  You are one of the lucky ones who if you get your check on-time if they do not bounce.  Does anyone know if contractors have any rights?  Are they allowed to hold money even if the equipment has been returned?

This company is a waste.  First of all - they bounce checks to most of their employees.  They say they do not outsource - but they do.  The owners run and hide at payroll time -- constantly have their phones shut off, and the insurance is constantly canceled as they do not pay the premiums.  Not to mention, they still owe the overseas group greater than 20,000.

I just heard the same story today. They don't pay!

I have never been in a situation where I broke my back typing for 15 days and had to beg for my money. I couldn't think of anything worse, except of course illness.

I know that the small company that I was previously employed with lost all of their HCA accounts to Superior Global and most everyone that had worked with me went to work for them. I chose not to, as I was tired of radiology work. From what I hear, these people are happy. They are working on accounts that they have worked on in the past and have plenty of work. I don't know for a fact that they outsource, I just know that my friends are not hurting for work and like the change to Superior from the company we had worked for previously. They also had no compete contracts, but have not been legally pursued by the other company - probably because they lost all their accounts and can't afford to sue anyone now.

I received an email from this company in response to an email that I'd sent a long time ago. I did some research on a few different sites and found lots of negatives in regards to pay.

I emailed them back and stated that I was not seeking a position. I later thought about it and decided that I wanted to get the info directly from the source. I emailed the individual and stated that I had read that there were problems with MTs being paid in a timely matter and asked if this was true. I never received a response.

I don't want to work for any company who cannot pay me on time.

There is nothing AAMT can do - we are in a global
economy, and the cents per line margin is just so tiny - it really always has been. I remember in the - old days - max anyone was making realistically was 14 to 15 cpl. Its not like it used to be 50 cents a line even. There just is no margin for all this bartering. The entrepreneurs and MTSOs dreamed up the offshoring, and that was that! There is just no sense blaming AAMT - its so much bigger than AAMT. I know how you feel - wasted about the last 5 years being bitter about it. Again, don't join AAMT or whatever their name is, but many of us want to be members. I want to be at the top of my game in this career so that I will not be offshored. There will always be room for the top brains in this industry - whether American, or Indian, or Irish. I have seen offshored transcription, and it is not the joke that most of you would like to think. That's what actually changed my opinion of  -- the foreigners -- most of their work is absolutely meticulous and beautiful. I swear, being in QA I can actually get vibes from a report regarding the attitude of the MT. You can just see whether they are top-notch and professional, or sloppy and bitter. There IS a shortage of new talent in my company from the USA - its shocking! I give the offshorers whose work I QA kudos. And believe me, there was no one as angry and disgusted about it than I was. But I tried to be global minded, and it has paid off for me regarding my attitude and my sanity. Its NOT going to go away, and yes, I do embrace it. At this point, I don't care what ethnicity transcribes it, as long as its good quality. And, to date, I have had lots of Indian work in particular pass thru my hands, and I have not experienced the horror that others claim to see. Rather, the horror stuff is churned out by the US MTs, in my particular situation.

Pay is low and sometimes late. Not very well organized and many accounts are on Meditech that doesn't allow you to work in Word, then cut and paste into Meditech.

I don't think I'm going to go with this company.  I found out they don't have direct deposit.   I don't like late paychecks and I don't like my check mailed to me.  About 10 years ago, I worked as an IC and had my check mailed to me.  One time it was mailed to another company instead of to me.  It was cashed.  Luckily, the company returned the money to me.  I don't think I want to do that again.

The VPN there is very slow. You cannot make any money. You have to jump through a ton of different windows before you even begin to type. I did work for them one day and quit -- they never paid me for what I did either.

Low, low pay. Combination of VR and traditional transcription. I work there but am getting out. They pay at the poverty level. An insult to an experienced transcriptionist. I have no idea about Alltype.
