Very easy to install, I had typed on EXText at a previous service so I was familiar with the platform, but it is quite easy to use.

EXText with Medware
The company I worked for lost a big account and said nothing to any of us.  I applied at Medware as they use Dictaphone EXText as well.  After speaking with the recruiter and testing, I was offered a position and they set me up in less than 1 day, keeping my ESP word Expander list.  I missed one day's work, but my new account has plenty of work and I was very impressed with everyone that I spoke with at Medware, I would recommend you give them a look.
Medware uses EXText
They have both acute care and clinic teams that use EXText.  You are right, it is a great system.
I use EXText with Medware

I also like using EXText, good software.  Like Medware so far as well.

It is an awesome platform, very productive.
I use EXText with Medware
You are right, it is a great platform.  Very easy to learn, before I started at Medware I used a DVI system, EXText is much easier and more productive.

Medware has 2 platforms, Merit and EXText
They use 2 platforms, their own called Merit and Dictaphone's EXText.  Depends on what work type and account you ask for, different teams for each one.  Hope that helps, I have been with Medware about 6 months and use EXText, it's awesome.  I am on a clinic account.
I use ExText and love it
I use it with OSi. I also use Shorthand, and it works just fine.

I really like the searching capabilities... You can search by worktype, doctor, patient, and by MT (so you can pull up your own old reports). The search features are the best thing in my opinion. They've saved me a lot of blanks.

ExText and I love it

I love ExText
I have never worked in Chartscript before, so I can't say anything about it, but I do work in ExText and LOVE it. It is so very easy to use and very easy to make a great line count in. I do all ER reports and discharge summaries, and it is great.
I'm on an ExText acct with MW. Love it! nm

I work in ExText and love it
My main account is mostly templates, and it is an extremely easy ER account with about 8 doctors. I easily do between 400-500 lines per hour on that account. My secondary account is on Chartscript, and I do about 300-350 lines per hour on that account. I love them both.
I would love to know too, I love EXText
nm
I love ExText...calm down..it'll be okay
ExText is extremely easy. You've got your demographics screen...easy...and then you're in your document.  You know what's great about ExText? It's so easy to search for past reports by provider, by patient, by MT.  It's very straight forward and a very easy system to learn in my opinion.  You get past the demo screen, finish the document, ctrl-N, it spellchecks, you're done. Voila!
I loved Bayscribe ... also love ExText ... sm

really haven't found any platform I truly hate.  Nowadays, you just have to be adaptable.  I used Wordperfect (DOS) back when it was 3-something, and I knew it like the back of my hand.  But everything changes ... so now I know Word and various derivations ... Iscriptor, Extext, Webnedx's platform (a bit cumbersome but still doable), the old YOG Cottage program ... you name it.   I no longer work there (I wanted to be an employee and have benefits and such), but I think anyone who walks away from MDI-MD because they hear negative things about Bayscribe is doing themselves a huge disservice.  I made 11 cpl when I left, had decent accounts, and great liaisons.  To stick your heels in the sand and say Bayscribe stinks just seems foolish to me ... but that's just my opinion.  Opinions ... and ... uh .. other things .. we all have them (smile).

Of course, I also have to admit, still going back to my WP51/PRD days ..... I LOVED PRD, and have adapted to similar Expanders such as ShortHand and autocorrect in Word and such ...... but I watch people on this board exclaim about how wonderful Instant Text is, and I want to puke (ha).   I worked for Healthscribe for about a month (it's not even here anymore, and they were the kingpin of offshoring, I later discovered) ..... I hated that stupid popup box and such with IT.  I want to just use my own little abbreviations I can memorize and hit the space bar.  But that's just me.  And if I found a great company who insisted I use IT .... I'd learn to like it, or at least tolerate it.

Uhoh ... this started out as just a defense of Bayscribe (honestly, the line counts on it are great ... I did a minimum of 300 lph, and if I really focused and had some good dictators, it could be more like 350, and I only have about 1000 abbreviations) ... and somehow I got sidetracked.  Sorry ..... sign of an old lady up too late at night with no brain left (ha).

Bottom line ...... I have been an MT for a long time.  If I can ever help anyone with anything, I'd be happy to try.  Feel free to email me anytime.

Love ExText platform but not sure about companies as I'm an IC. nm

Totally agree,I love ExText
I have been working in ExText for months and love it. All of my lines are very accurate and I make an awesome line count every day working in it. I wouldn't want to work on any other platform!
I love ExText. Why do you say run? It is fast, easy to use sm
and my line counts are right on the money (verified often).

General statements can be misleading. Just because YOU had a bad experience, why tell people to run from a platform that is used by literally thousands and hospitals????
I love ExText, others don't. It'll eat a report once in a while, but otherwise it's easy to
s
Also love ExText even though the line counts can be low. Easy to use! nm

I LOVE it at Medware!!!! sm
What they pay, platform: Merit AND Dictaphone.

Training: You get paid for training, but I am not sure how many days, weeks, etc. You would have to ask the recruiter for specifics.

Do you pay deposit for computer?: You supply your own computer. They do supply some software and a foot pedal.

What they are like to work for: I absolutely love it there. I have worked for them for almost a year and a half and love it. There is PLENTY of work. I have an AWESOME Team Leader, AWESOME coworkers, and I love that they hire from within.

They do offshore some work, but what company doesn't. Look at Walmart, IBM, etc. just to name a few.

They also do have good benefits...401k after 1 year, 10 days paid vacation after 1 year, sick leave, medical, dental, vision, life insurance....HTH!
Sounds like you are talking about ExText - I love it. I use my shorthand AND the built-in ESP.
nm
2 years at Medware - love it

I too work for Medware and LOVE it...
They were a very good change for me also. The benefits are good. My team leaders are GREAT. I could NOT have picked a better place to work. They DEFINITELY are a GREAT company to work for, and I too have been VERY happy there!
I work for Medware...I love it!

9cpl and 11 cpl for weekends. Use ExText. My ExText version wasn't compatible with theirs

Does anyone think 41 is too old to go to nursing school. I love MT but I just would love to be a
nurse.  I have such a interist in helping others and the medical world.
Love, love, love DeVenture
Super nice, flexible and just all around nice to work for.
Love, love, love Axolotl
I totally love Axolotl.  Just as A-team said, fantastic benefits.  Yes, strict schedule, but never ever had a problem getting off when I needed to.  I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.
She's giving work TO Medware, or is Medware giving work to her company? Medware has no work. nm

Love Bayscribe and love the pay
At 11 cpl I love working for MDI Maryland. Bayscribe is a breeze. The lines build up so quickly. Everything is right there on the page. Sometimes, you have to fill in patient data, but who cares.... you do get paid for it. No holiday or vacation pay as it is an IC position. It beats 8 and 9 cpl any day. IMO
Love, love Archivus
Mind my asking what your line rate is? Do you have to work a schedule? Is their platform good? Anything else?
love/hate MT, mostly love it :)
i've long been dismayed with the direction in which this profession has gone, and i agree with the person who posted that women have accepted substandard wages and/or unfair IC or employment situations. It's very sad to see how, when outsourcing became the norm, women did not adequately negotiate to, you know, pay their bills!!! It seems this has resulted in lots of undercutting and lower line rates for everyone. I see some companies slowly improving and not requiring crazy line counts and hours in exchange for paying into health insurance. i entered this profession as a single female. i married an engineer and was living mighty comfy and cushy and happily doing 4 hours at 11 cpl in the late 90s. didn't have to worry about not having bennies at all. now as a single mom with a young child, i truly struggle. but i do love my work and hold out for my specialty to keep the line count up. still, i see the glaring problems and it's just a shame. if there were an MT union, i'd join in a heartbeat. no time/energy to start one and be some kind of norma rae, though!

Ah, yes, a love/hate thing indeed!

Best to all of you wonderful mts, male and female :)
EXText
I just wonder what companies use EXText as a transcription platform?  If you've worked on it, did you like it?  Is it  MT friendly?
EXText
If you are referring to Dictaphone EXTtext, it is basically transcribing in Word only it has it's own Expander (you cannot use SmartType and other Expanders with it.) It is user friendly and works quickly.

I used IT with EXText, too.

OSi uses EXText...nm
oo
extext
Could you tell me about the EXtext? I have a chance to switch from Merit to that, what do you think about it? I really like Merit so I don't know what to do.
EXText
I have never used Merit, but I have heard from my team leader that the MTs who use it like it.  I was using EXText for the past 2 years and like it fine, very happy that Medware could get me started in 1 day and save all of my Expander file.
EXText
OSi uses it.
EXText
I have worked on Dictaphone's EXText platform for 5 years, for 2 different companies, and I love it.

What is the name of the company and do you still work for them? I am about ready to accept a job, but it seems like I do remember her saying something about ExText. If everything you are saying is true, I don't know if I should go to work for them. Now I'M IN A PANIC!! Plus, everything else about the job sounded too good to be true. So maybe that's because they use ExText? PLEASE REPLY as I need to get back to them soon.
ExText
I personally really like working with ExText.  No problems in about 2-1/2 years.  I don't know what your question, do they really take 30%, means but assuming you mean the ExText program, then my production is just as good with it as it has been with any other program.  Believe me I would notice if my production went south;  that happened with XX Company on DQS.  Very occasionally it seems to be a little slow loading jobs but the only time I ever have to really wait on it is if I have a couple of really short reports in a row, otherwise 2 jobs stay in my que all the time.  Good luck which ever way you decide to go.
ExText
I'm not the poster you were responding to, but IMHO ExText is not really better or worse than most other platforms I've worked on and that's been a bunch.  The exception it DQS.  At the time I worked on it DQS totally sucked but then I know there are people who say they love it.  I'm not exactly a computer whiz so I suppose different companies using ExText could probably make it function different ways.  My experience with ExText is the demos pop right in and you go directly from there to the typing screen, Ctr end ends the job and brings up the next demo screen and so on.  Couldn't be much more simple.
ExText

I really like ExText.  It is very user-friendly.  My line counts with TT are consistent with those from other companies I have worked for in the past that used a different platform.  I would suggest you contact the person that hired you regarding your concerns about ExText and let them explain the way it works, i.e., what you are paid for and what you are not paid for, and any other questions you may have.

ExText rip off
I work in extext with breitner's and we dont get paid for headers/footers either.....  we look up referrals, etc. After I type a document, I click on tools, and chose word count and I keep track of my counts myself.  I get paid for the full body of the reports, but no heads/foots......  to me, 30% is BS.  How long have you worked with this company???
