It seems to me like they are looking to cut costs and transcription is one of them. I doubt highly that most at home MTs have to provide a photo of their workspace and have a door per HIPAA regulations. It doesn't make any sense to me. I know it is scarey doing something different. I was scared too when I first started. My husband left me for another woman six months after we moved to a different state, away from my friends and family, and anything that was comfortable for me. I was also unemployed at that time and in the middle of my MT training. It was tough, but I survived and I am now back in my own state, working at home as an MT and making twice the amount he used to bring home in a month! Keep your job, but look elsewhere in the meantime. It is not hard working at home and once it happens, you will love it. Just find something else. They are trying to look out for themselves...you need to look out for yourself too. Good Luck to you!! We on this site, do care.
