Is there a list of companies that DON'T OFFSHORE?

If not, can we list them here?  I'm tired of getting laid off or not having enough work from companies who're sending work to India.

If you know of a company that doesn't offshore, it would also be nice if you could say whether or not they require VR.

Thanks in advance to anyone who participates -- we're all in this together!

Here is a list of companies that offshore ... FYI

See study overview table from 2008 MTSO study:

OP asked for a list of companies that DO offshore (sm)
Inside the post she asked to start a second list of companies who keep work here in the USA.  I understood the post, and was merely listing Keystrokes as someone who does NOT offshore to go on the second list of companies that keeps work here.  KS does NOT offshore and they never will.
TTD, Inc DOES offshore. They should not be on this list. nm
.
The majority of them offshore. The list will be
much shorter if you ask what companies don't offshore.
Take Precyse Solutions in GA off the list because they most definitely do offshore....
They do hire American MTs though, along with all of their MTs in India
Can someone list all the MT companies that exist?
I've tried to find a complete listing of every MT company that exists, but no luck. Can anyone here provide me with that or at least tell me where to get it? Thanks
Can you help with a list of companies that do pay downtime?

I have 2 companies on my list to apply to if
MQ sinks and Medware is one of them! Thanks for the info!
List of companies using ExText? sm
Can anyone give me a list of companies that use ExText? Looking for part-time position and IC or employee; specialize in OPs, 10+ yrs experience.  Thanks in advance!
Go to this link for list of companies

where you will find 2 more links regarding companies that hire new grads.
Maybe list the bad companies instead of the good
I don't really blame the person that has the great job for not wanting to post it on the board. I had a great job at one time and they lost their big accounts and I lost the job. Now I got a good job, but the pay isn't much unfortunately, but the work is good and steady.

Maybe people rather wouldn't mind listing the names of companies they worked for and got burned or hated the job for whatever reasons.

If there are any good companies they are few and far between unfortunately. I was making more per line 10 to 20 years ago than now. Our rates have not increased. The only difference is we are on computers now instead of typewriters. I don't think any of these companies care about us as people. We are just money makers for them. That's their bottom line. I'd love to know how much they are getting per line from the hospitals. Probably 16 cents a line and we are getting 8. It really stinks. The only way to make more is to work more and more. And then when you work like 8 hours overtime and see your check it really is disgusting how little it added up to. At least in the days where we were employees at hospitals our overtime pay would be so great that it made it worth it.
Would like to know list of companies that use Webtop please?
Anyone know of companies that use the program, Webtop?  Thanks!
What is sad is that you'll get a longer list of companies
People with skill and experience are too costly to most large MTSOs.  Quantity is more important than quality because, after all, it's cheaper to hire a couple skilled professionals to clean up the mess of the larger group of unexperienced/unskilled MTs that they can hire for a lot less.
List of companies that use Dictaphone platform??
I like working on the Dictaphone platform and would like to find a company that uses this platform.. preferably with low ESL.  Tried a company that had Dictaphone but the ESL was so bad I could not get a good line count.
And a lot of the lists are made up of companies that pay to be on the list. sm
I think your best bet is to either go with someone who is well known or go with a small company if you know someone who works there.
Can anyone share a compiled list of companies

And a second list of companies USA only? This would be a great reference tool for those of us who have made a personal choice to only work for USA firms.  I thought about compiling a list, but am afraid it would not be all-inclusive, and I know that some of you out there are very knowledgeable and have done much research.

Also on the American ones, perhaps if you know they cheat on line counts, pay, give the run around, that would help too.  I could probably help with that but again it would not be all inclusive.

Maybe we can get a few posts together and share notes.  I think that this kind of list of all of our experiences (collectively would be a great reference tool), and perhaps it could be saved here somewhere, maybe earmarked for future reference so people would not have to constantly search through archives.  Why reinvent the wheel over and over again if we could have all this info in 1 place.

I think that if we work all collectively, we can improve our working conditions, because MTSOs on that list will be held accountable at least by the amount of people who read this board and support the ideas which seem to come up often here, namely, keep it in the USA, keep wages fair, treat the remote MT/QA professionally, etc.

When gas prices went through the roof the American public cut back and you see now, gas prices are going down. This should be an example to us that if we all work together throughout the country, changes must be made by those who are cheating the MT.  By us having this information, and keeping it here, then people can have a great list to keep in their back pocket, and finally companies will be held accountable.

I will be willing to put some into the list, but I don't know it all so I need help.  Will wait for feedback first. Thanks in advance for listening to my idea.

Here is a compiled list of Indian MT companies
http://mtherald.com/medical-transcription-companies-in-india-a-detailed-list/

Checkout this list. You've two more such lists on that blog, totaling three.

One thing you need to know with the Indian companies is that the rates are low and you cannot earn as much as you can in the US.
Please form a list of nonVR companies

It would be great to have all in 1 place companies which do not have VR (and they usually are all USA too).  I can only come up with 2 to start, but please add to the list.  This would certainly help out those who do not wish to take the leap at this time into that kind of technology.  Thanks for adding to the list.

1.  Keystrokes.  Very little VR, lots of straight typing.  No overseas.

2.  SoftScript.  I think all straight typing.  I do believe no overseas.

Please add to the list. It would be a helpful tool for many of us. Sorry I can't think of more, but then again, that is why I am creating this post. Thanks again.

Correction to list below of Companies that do not off shore
Optiscript in State College,Pa DOES off shore. I was offered a job with them until I heard from a very reliable source that they even have offices out of the country. Stay away!
Still good companies in my opinion...was not on the list. Check them out for yourself OP

Partial list of companies providing a computer...sm

Diskriter, Precyse, Opti-Script (Penn.), CIT (Charts in Time), WebMedX, Spheris, and Amphion.  Transcend used to. Maybe someone can say whether Transtech or MQ still do. I do not know if you have to be FT in order to get computer provided with any of these companies. Opti-Script in Penn. WILL provide one for part-timers. Good luck!

I just emailed Mr. Dobbs with a partial list of MT companies
that outsource that weren't on his list.  Thanks for the link!
good list of companies for straight typers
1. Keystrokes
2. SoftScript
3. Digital Transcription Systems, Inc. (DTS--Oklahoma)
4. TRS, LLC (N.Carolina)

Companies that offshore
I am about to make a move as far as employment goes. I'm an editor. I am not interested in editing  for a company that offshores. I'd like to know who they are. If you are aware of any, please list them.  Thanks.
Companies that offshore can now

from main board:

MTStars has been staunchly against the offshoring of American Private Health Information, but realizes that MTStars must evolve with the ever changing views of conducting business in the global economy. The hands of time cannot be turned back on the widespread transfer of information globally and as of January 1, 2006, MTStars opened itself up to include the global environment.

I try not to keep companies going that offshore.

Need to know which companies offshore
Need to start looking and need to know which companies to avoid...please share the names of companies who offshore.

TIA
not 100% sure but I do know that both companies offshore. sm
why would a client pay for US people to do the work when India can do it for much less?
Two companies that do NOT offshore
are MDI-MD and Landmark. Let's support American jobs for American workers.
Two companies that do not offshore
are MDI-MD and Landmark. Both are good companies with decent, honest people who will treat you fairly. As to offshoring, I might mention that a friend of mine was laid off this week (along with 250 other people) from Wal-Mart because they are now going to send the work to Mexico. Although I am poor, I will NEVER again give my business in Wal-Mart. There is a great DVD called THE HIGH COST OF LOW PRICES. I realize that we are not Wal-Mart workers, but the same principle applies. AMERICAN JOBS FOR AMERICAN WORKERS! Do not patronize companies that offshore. They are giving America away. (If you don't believe it, look at the mess we currently have in California--the state is going to go bankrupt.)

Companies that do not offshore work

Are there any companies that pay a good line rate and are good to there MTs that do not offshore there work?  I am trying to help a friend looking for part time work, but she is staying clear of those that offshore..

Any help would be appreciated.

If companies offshore they are not allowed to
post ads on MTStars.  TM is not one of those companies.  They are not an MT company, more like an employment agency.  If a company pays to advertise on MTStars any post that doesn't glorify them is removed and evidently that is what happened.
offshore - most companies send
only what their current staff cannot get done or if the hospital specifically demands it - how does this take away from the MT or is it the fault of the MTSO?? I think everyone is angry at the wrong party - - everyone (companies and MTs) do what the hospitals are demanding
I think they are trying to be competative with the offshore companies for one,
but I think some are just greedy and they want you to think that they must lower their rates to keep an account and that trickles down.
There are companies that take a stand against offshore and mean it. sm
I would look for those. I know for sure that Execuscribe, JLG, Keystrokes and MDI-MD do not send work out of the USA. I am sure that there are others.

I forwarded the entire thread about an hour ago to my Lead Transcriptionist, HR and to the owner of the company I work for so that they are aware of Heartland doing this. The owner has already answered me and said that they will watch out for displaced Heartland MTs and give them special attention. She agrees that no one deserves this treatment. I am proud to be an MT, but discouraged and worried that things like this happening will chase away my fellow professionals. I hate to say it, but we really do need more structure if we are going to make a difference.
She tries to hook you up with companies that offshore. NO thanks.
/
More and more companies offshore. Lots of them
say they don't, but they do.  It is getting harder and harder to find a company that doesn't offshore, whether it be to India, the Phillipines, or Trinidad.   If you have children to feed and a mortgage to pay you HAVE to work.   Unless you've figured out a way to get the bills paid and not work you do what you have to do.
Yes. I will not work for companies which offshore.
If we all did that, the companies would have no choice but to come back and give us our jobs back.
Nearly all the offshore companies have front offices in the U.S. sm
Sometimes their actually hotel rooms.  They use international phone numbers and purchase a phone # in the U.S.  In point of fact, clients many times don't even know they are dealing with an offshore company.  The owner of this website has done extensive reseach and knows who offshores and who doesn't.  It isn't that hard to figure out when you start connecting the dots, i.e., visit the website and there is no place for MTs to apply. Almost all U.S. based companies have a place to apply.  Notice that all the offices, including those in other states, all have the same address and phone number.  And notice if you call that 24/7 phone number you always get a voice mail.  There are lots of ways to tell.   The offshoring companies are getting more sophisticated about how they work things.  And some hospitals are getting more persistent about not contracting with services who are offshore.  It's a shill game. Dishonest and deceitful.
Is there an easier way to find out if companies offshore?
I have worked for 3 companies that all offshored and were absolutely not forthcoming about it upfront. I never want to work for one again. Is there a list somewhere or am I banging my head on the wall. Again.
How about this? In a nutshell, which companies DO NOT outsource OFFshore?

I though offshore companies could not advertise on this site?
Guess I am wrong about that.
WHOOPS, referring to companies who do not offshore.
x
Unrealistic view that a lot of MTs do not understand. The offshore companies sm
have very deep pockets and make it attractive for companies here to use them. Even if every smaller MTSO refused to do it, do you think we would be able to compete with Spheris and C-Bay just to name two of the bigger companies that use the offshore transcriptionists?

Hospitals, unfortuneately, often care more about the bottom line than the perfection we expect from ourselves. Many doctors do not read the reports (most from what I understand) and just care that they have satisfied JACHO requirements by having a record in the charts.

Offshore transcription is not going anywhere. Sad but true. I do not support it but I am a small tree in a very, very, very big forest.
Are there any companies left who don't send work offshore?
?
I think the 2 largest companies that do not offshore are Webmedx and Keystrokes. sm
Webmedx is in the $25m range with 750 employees and Keystrokes in the $20m range with 600 employees.

I am not sure about SoftScript or Transtech but I do not think they are bigger than those two.

I know that both have goals to be in the same size range as Spheris. I worked for Spheris in management for a while before coming to my senses and both companies were discussed frequently.

I just hope that MQ or Accusis does not buy either of them. The rumor is that neither will even think of selling but $$$ talks and MQ still seems to have plenty even after losing the lawsuits AND after having a negative income for several years. Not sure how or why, but their pockets are deep, as are those at Accusis.

Thoughts?
Actually, companies get BIG tax breaks if they do offshore thanks to Prez Bush; who we all know supp
x
Everyone is always wondering what companies offshore and i found a link to a bunch

Notice AlphaBest is on there and she SWEARS she does not  send work to India.  I worked there and i knew she did but she refused to admit it even though it is in writin now.

Wrong. Companies chose to or not to offshore work, nobody makes them. sm
My company does not offshore work, absolutely will not. We've actually gained/kept accounts assuring clients that we do not. We have many clients, cutting edge technology for both customer and employee, a healthy growth rate and a high MT retention rate. It's not impossible to have a successful USA-only based company. Sadly that may not be the norm anymore, but it's a choice MTSO/CEOs (whatever they may be) make and in my opinion maybe cutting some of the bottom line and offshoring is being done in place of producing a high quality of work that keeps a customer happy and not looking around for other service options. Subsequently I think these companies then suffer inferior work further because they are paying less and/or maybe have contractural obligations. Personally I'd like to think they'd still prefer high quality to low prices and inferior product. I have to wonder if these offshore companies are losing just as many accounts because of their product. I just know I am glad I work for a company who doesn't outsource, doesn't plan to, and has every intention to remain successful because quality does count.
