It is very sad you are so accepting of offshoring and AAMT turning a blind eye to the American MTs.

In Reply to: Why not look at it that they have embraced the fact - Positive!

The offshoring would not be a problem if there was not such a huge difference in cost. We are on the losing end and taking pay cuts because of offshoring. Also, I know many who have lost their jobs to cheap labor overseas. AAMT is encouring this. That is wrong. America is slowly become a third world country in itself. If we don't stop it now, there will be no jobs left for Americans. I don't care where you are from or what kind of job you have, the pay should be equal for all so the competition is fair. You will find after some time with AAMT, you will be ignored and will receive nothing but redundant information from AAMT office and local chapters. Anything they offer can be gained via the internet now.

I think the tide is turning and AAMT will be American again soon. nm

The tide is turning with AAMT
NOT! They have never cared about MTs, only about our money. They will, as they say in the movies, Follow the Money, right to India. They have no shame.
AAMT--where's the American in it?

This is in reference to their teaching in the Phillipines.

I myself do NOT feel comfortable having my information sent overseas, including my name, DOB, and often SSN listed in the demographics screen of each note. I have heard stories of prosecution (or lack there of) by identity theft from people in other countries. Maybe Americans should start boycotting or protesting the healthcare industries that outsource overseas!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAMT and offshoring
You all can blame AAMT as much as Heartland for the demise of your jobs. This anti-American worker organization has actively supported and contributed to the demise of your jobs. Put the blame where it lies, including with AAMT. ESPECIALLY WITH AAMT.
RE: AAMT and offshoring
Wrong, Wrong, Wrong!!!!!
AAMT has been blaming the American MT, sm
for absolutely everything and their failures for years. They're too arrogant to possibly think that maybe it's THEM and they should take the blame for the demise of the profession. Of course, they want us to volunteer what little time we have left after typing nonstop ESLs for 7 cpl. I'm only in this for the paycheck anymore and for myself honestly. My days of trying to better this profession are over. You get tired of having your hands slapped by those bozos. I volunteered, it wasn't what they wanted, I wasn't a maven, and now they're looking for new blood.
AAMT has NEVER been good for American MT's. (nm)
.
Umm, AAMT started years ago for AMERICAN MTs. You

seem to be implying that since AAMT happens to be located in the US then that is why the association is named the way it is.  You are incorrect in your implication and it is not right to post it in that manner on a public forum where new visitors get the wrong idea.

AAmT - All American medical Transcription

Hello Wonderful MTs and Editors.    I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and are planning a very big Christmas.     (I hope it snows in Nashville!)

It appears that there has been some recent confusion on the mtstars site.   My apologies to all.    We are a new company and have been relying on a recruiting agency to assist us with hiring MTs.

We will no longer be using that company.    They were using the address MTRecruiter@aol.com.     AAmT's formal and approved listings will ALWAYS clearly show an address @allusmts.com.

AAmT will be hiring US MTs and editors to support clinics, radiology departments, and medical record departments located in the southeastern US.   We welcome all qualified MTs to apply with our company.   We will treat you well.   You will have plenty of work.   You will have auto deposit of your pay and it will always be on time.   When you come to work for AAmT, I am always available.  If for any reason my staff does not treat you well, does not provide you with the tools you need, or just simply does not communicate with you in a manner you feel is right....then I welcome you to communicate directly with me.   It is my goal to provide excellent job opportunities for my fellow MTs and editors.   I want to build the BEST TEAM of MTs and editors and for AAmT to be recognized for the quality we produce.

We are currently in the transition phase of taking on business from another company.   Therefore, please do not be confused if you call the office number and hear Synthescribe.   Synthescribe is a corporation in Nashville who provides offshore labor solutions to health care providers in conjunction with onshore.   AAmT is acquiring service contracts of Synthescribe's and will be providing 100% US labor solutions to these clients.   I personally look forward to building a team of qualified US MTs and editors to support these health care facilities.   They are thrilled about the fact we will be providing onshore services under AAmT's leadership.

I hope this helps clear up some of the confusion that has occurred on here.   I have now hired our own HR Director.   You may be hearing from her.  Her name is Amy.   She is a great lady and I am sure those of you who are fortunate enough to speak with her will really enjoy working with her.    (Amy starts with us next Monday, so you may not hear from her right away).   My niece, Tonya, will also be working with Amy.   You guys be nice to her now, she's only 21, but she means well and does a lot around the office to help everybody.   I just love her to death and I know you will too.   She sometimes has a sick sense of humor, but she grows on you.

Any time you want to contact us, please do.   You can contact a member of our management team at the following email addresses:

tammy@allusmts.com

justin@allusmts.com

amy@allusmts.com

ozz@allusmts.com

info@allusmts.com

sales@allusmts.com

tonya@allusmts.com

Our website is www.allusmts.com.   We will be updating our phone numbers and contact information within the next 7-10 days.

Don't wait though...you guys go ahead and contact us as we have so many jobs already available.   We need your help.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.   I really am very passionate about this industry and the jobs that we all do.     Take Care.   -- Tammy, COO

It was AAmT .. All American Medical Transcription.
NM
AAMT whatever it is now called DOES NOT represent American MTs sm

and has not in a very long time.  They promote either actively or passively, sending our jobs offshore.  It is high time they changed their name from AMERICAN Association of Medical Transcriptionists because let me tell you, they do not, in any way, shape or form, represent MY interests in this industry.

Whatever they call themselves now, it doesn't matter...I consider the whole organization a sick joke.

American companies offshoring
The purpose is to hit the companies who are taking jobs from the US and employing overseas workers (killing our economy), not paying taxes on their profits like they should.

The administration wants to offer rewards/incentives for companies to hire US based workers by making them pay more taxes for sending work overseas, thus cutting short their windfall profits.

In other words, if you plan to continue to send US jobs overseas, you are going to pay for it big time. NO MORE MR. NICE GUY.

About time.
The *American* AAMT now giving memberships/CMTs to foreign MTs....
Shouldn't they at least change the name to UN-AMT or something like that! lol
AAmT (All American Medical Transcription) Okay. the ad is back with a different person. Is this one
Hopefully, they have fired the bad example of a recruiter that was on here and this one is legit. Please advise.
Offshoring of American medical records is flat out wrong and...
a security risk in some cases...
Blind leading the blind, but here goes...
At the very top, where it says, file, then edit, there will be view. Click on view. Click on toolbar. Play around with adding and deleting toolbars until you get the one(s) you want.

Good luck!
this may be the blind leading the blind, but...
I think it is control F3, then I think what you want is under local configuration. How quickly we forget this stuff, geez!!
I believe AAMT guidelines is 65 chars. with spaces. Maybe go to aamt.org and see if you can
s
Oh no, I'm thinking about accepting a job with them.
nm
Considering accepting an offer to do
Would love to hear from current QA folks at Sten-Tel. I am concerned because it is an IC position...is there a steady workload? I can't afford not to get 40 hours per week.
The ones accepting these positions must be SM
newbies, cause I can't believe an MT with much experience would put up with it.
Are they accepting resumes? sm

I used to work for them about 2 years ago on acute care and had to quit because everything they had required high speed internet and I only had dialup at the time.  I now have high speed and would be interested in working on one of their radiology accounts.  What are the line requirements for radiology?  Where would I apply?  There is no place on their website to apply.  Thanks.

ALL TYPE - OFFERED JOB - I'M ACCEPTING

Thank you all for your input, it is appreciated.

I'm going to accept .  It is wonderful because I will be doing what I love most...training  and QA (don't scream now...I'm old it will hurt my ears!).  I owned my own business years ago, and have always been a working MT.  I have worked as an MT and trainer for over 32 years; last was for another larger national as a trainer and when I left (the grass is not always greener on the other side, especially going to work for the wicked witch -- made a HUGE Mistake!) shortly thereafter (about 1-1/2 weeks, honestly!!)  I realized I wasn't as happy as I was training.  To make a long story short (as my oldest and dearest friend told me  ) Your setback was a setup for a comeback!

Thank you again

I'm in the process of accepting a position with them. SM
They didn't say anything about a turn-around time, thought, so maybe this varies by account.  I liked the sound of the account I'm going to be doing and so I'm going for it.  I wish the pay was a little higher, but I always wish that!  I actually didn't ask about raises - didn't think about it.  I'm not really much help, am I? lol
Costs associated with accepting a position do not sm
include purchasing MS Word or medical spellchecker. Keystrokes provides the platfom for the account you are on and if you do not have Shorthand, they will provide it for you.

Some accounts do require unlimited long distance, but I have it anyway as I have 2 college students out of state and a teenager. I went with my local cable company and can call anywhere any time. It is less than my regular phone was.

I'm glad you are happy with your decision, but if you look in the future for another job, don't count KS out as they will work to help you get what you need and the account that best suits you.
TT web site not accepting resumes?
Hey y'all, just tried to send TT my resume by using their website resume sender lol I tried sending it on IE (gave me a 404 error) and on Netscape (it just sat there). Anybody have an email address I can send it to? Thanks! JC
companies accepting satellite connection
Cannot get DSL/cable (no way). Need suggestions on companies hiring with satellite connection. Thank you.
Why does progress mean accepting a lower wage?
I want to point out the contrast between the OP and this response.

The OP says MDI moving to VR is to cut costs. Had to Respond says it is keeping up with the times and says nothing about reducing costs. Is moving to VR keeping up with (sic) technological times or is it being used to reduce costs?

I believe it is the latter, not the former. And if that is the case, Had to respond has no straws to grasp to justify the transition. It is NOT about moving with technology and everything to do with paying less to the ICs.

I am so not impressed with Had to Respond and her big girl panties to accept less money.
My creditors are just not accepting nice for $$$$ to pay my bills
We continue to get these emails from mgmt about big things in store . . . but we cannot tell you about it now.   This has been going on for a number of months now.  Who is going to benefit from those big things.  We MT's are LOSING money each and every day, but you keep getting the same size paychecks because you are either salaried or hourly employees.
Sounds like OSi is turning into
visa versa. I have worked for both and they both STINK!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY, (RUN FOREST RUN) LOL.
Perhaps a new page is turning here
I believe that with new life being breathed into TTS daily that some of the past problems have been eliminated and that they are working on the others. It is easy to believe negative posts and none of us want to get into a bad situation, but I trust the person I spoke to about TTS and I have learned in the past few months up close and personally that everyone needs to be responsible for making their own decisions about employment. If you have a good work ethic you might find a pleasant surprise now at this company. Work is plentiful and it is good work. Rates paid are based on your individual negotiations and not perhaps what you think based on what is posted here. Professionals can always find work. I put my line in the sand and I ended up in a good place. You can do the same.
Who is to say that the MTs turning out these reports...
know the difference. There are some of us older MTs who were fortunate to have some kind of hands on training and actual mentoring, but how often does that happen anymore?

The assumption is that these MTs are purposely rushing through reports and leaving glaring errors to pad their paycheck. All I am saying is companies hire new MTs for a lot less than their veteran MTs and then turn them loose with little or no help.

I was always told from my supervisor that no news was good news, and I think that is pretty much how they all are. So, these people probably bounce along thinking everything is great because nobody is pointing out errors to them. They still have a job, so they must be doing it right...right?

Again, I say the industry is creating this standard and the hospitals are accepting it. That does not make me unhappy with my job, and I don't sit around wondering how much my boss makes. I just take exception to laying the blame for poor quality reports squarely on an MT.
What sad is they're almost turning on each other..
Snide implications about whether some really quit and other nasty little asides. Kinda confirms the lack of a sisterhood, huh?
Am I getting blind???

Wow, Cardioscribes closed their position already?  What happened to their last post?

How blind are you...
I received a call from HR and he SPECIFICALLY told me that my job was being cut for the work to be sent offshore. How can you defend this - it is blatant.
I must be blind as a bat - I don't even see their AD
Maybe I'm just looking so hard for it that I'm overlooking it?
I'm turning 60 next week. My speed is as sm
fast as it was 20 years ago when I get dictators who can speak English well enough to be understood. It's the verbal stumblebums who slow me down when I first have to TRANSLATE and then transcribe. Age, for me, has nothing to do with speed. If anything, it has made me faster.
hourly turning out to be not so great.
hourly pay during VR is turning out to be a huge drop in pay as I am only paid hour while actually typing in a report. regular transcription and VR are intermingled all throughout the day as to manipulate my livelihood such that I am making about 200 dollars less per payperiod, that is almost 400 dollars a month.
Missy....are you blind?
You can't see the forest for the trees. Keep plugging away and you will find out just how much you are not appreciated and I hope it is not too late. You probably need compassion but you will find that it will not come from OSI. They have snakes in their heads and deep down don't care, they are just using you to better themselves.
If I were blind, I'd still recognize it as

I don't think they're blind to it
It wouldn't surprise me to find out they cultivate it. They allow a couple of MTs to become golden. Their supervisors spoon feed them the best of the work during their preferred shift and ensure that they have as much as they want. So what if the other 876 employees are dying out there.

Voila! You've got a couple of people who will come on boards like this one and sing exhaultations your company to the end...vowing that the naysayers are just disgruntled former employees or, even more likely, just lazy complainers.

Management isn't blind, but they're hoping the MTs remain so.
Is there really a shortage of US MTs or am I blind and deaf?? sm

I was talking to a prospective employer today.  First off, it is a start-up company in US.  They already have a base in the Philippines. Well, that turned right off; however, we continued the conversation.  My question to this person was this.....so, if you were to get contracts for MT here in the US, are you willing to just hire US MTs?  Answer...Well there is such a shortage of good quality MTs here in the US and we would like to have the work done in the Philippines.  My next question, and if the contract specifically states all work is to stay in the USA, what then?  Well, then we would hire only US based MTs.

Finally, I had to stop him in his tracks....I told him I emphatically disagree.  There is not a shortage of US MTs.  The problem is that you or any other Internationally based company is not willing to pay the US MTs what they are worth.  You want cheap labor, and you won't get that in the US.  Our MTs here in the USA produce such a high quality patient record and you have to be willing to compensate for that.  If you are interested in USA contracts but want to use cheap labor with no concern for quality, than I am not the person for this position.

I am so furious right now as I mull over the conversation......am I just blind or is there really a shortage here in the US of quality-driven MTs.

I am an MT myself as well as QA Specialist and I just do not agree with this mentality.  I think they use this excuse to justify their wanting to offshore.  I see through the smoke screen; however, I guess I just need to hear it from my fellow MTs.

What are your thoughts on this issue of not enough trained and experienced MTs here in the USA?

That is what these companies who are robbing us blind think you will do!
NM
Not in direct response to turning down any of these companies but regarding speech rec sm
So far Webmedx has only rolled out ASR (assisted speech rec) on one account; every one of the MTs on that pilot project liked ASR and chose to remain with it. We've been told that each MT will be able to choose whether or not to use ASR when the time comes - you can either try it or type it as you did before.

As for work assignments, personally I've not seen any difference in what accounts I work on - if you aren't trained on an acct, you don't get that work. It's not like everyone was thrown into one giant pool.

I know this doesn't answer your specific question, but thought it might enlighten about the changes at Webmedx.
Okay, this is turning ugly. These kind of comments are unprofessional
If you here work for the company you could be earning money by taking TT up on the big BONUSES this weekend that nobody has mentioned while griping about the headers, etc. um er, how about telling the world that lines and a half are being offered and an extra 50 to 100 in addition. So, why not just put your ugly comments away and get to work!
i must be blind. the mq link was there yesterday, but i do not see it today

can someone direct me to the MQ link please.

My former employer swore it did. Now, I'm half blind. :(
v
Never mind- I'm blind, didn't see the post below.
.
How is turning you down for a position rude? Are they, or any other company, obligated to give you
No. As a recruiter, I am seeing this more and more. Maybe the hours you were available did not match what they needed. Maybe your equipment or speciality or background did not match. How is it rude not to hire someone? There would be no need for interviews if everyone was just hired because they applied. I did not understand most of this until I started recruiting. The company I work for is spoken well of on this board and then bashed at other times. I see a lot of people that think they are entitled to a position or a shift or a certain account. It is difficult to be on this side.
With the alleged shortage of decent MTs, which you managers are quickly turning into VR editors sm
You should not be complaining about graphics or colors on resumes.  You should, frankly, be grateful for any applications you get.  The way MTs are being turned into editors for you voice recognition crap is horrible, and you should be apologizing for it.
Seems like the same docs on my accounts, but sound quality is turning into an issue. Hang in there!
