I would love to find another organization dedicated

to the American MT. I dropped AAMT really quick when I found what they were doing. In one of their news releases they more or less blamed American MTs for the need to go overseas to find members. They were begging for more members because of the loss of money to the organization.

I too love path & can't find it at home & would love to cross-train into rad in the meantime I do

I'd love to find something like that too, but
The only jobs I've ever found like thisare in the general and legal transcription field. I work for one of each on a p.r.n. basis. When they get the work they send an email out and see if you are available to take the file, and if you are fine, it not you can decline it.
How would you know? I would love to find out sm
what the owners of the company I work for have. They make it sound like they are struggling, but I find that hard to believe. Is there a place to look it up? Just being curious and a bit nosy!
That's strange because I had a dedicated account
or acute care.  I was doing clinic VR/some transcription.  Very strange that the work ran out.  There was no rule like that when I worked there, and it has been within the past six months.  Things must have changed.
Dedicated MTs is what is required in this business.
I have watched over the last 20 or so years women devote 12 to 15 hours a day, 7 days a week to their MTSO. We all have. Not having that devotion can break a business in this field because of TAT.

I did not know Carol but I was there when she left her group of MTs to Medquist. It would not have been so devastating had she not built the company on their backs, had she said good-bye to them with a wonderful gesture of kindness, yes MONEY - because that is what you do when you have become successful enough to sell your business for millions of dollars after starting out at the ground floor - you remember the people who were with you on the ground floor and stayed through the good and bad.

Rather, she took the money and ran off without a word - and that in itself says she knew that she not only sold the company behind their backs but also that she owed the success of her company to a few very specific and important people.

I found the morale at an all time low - and personally, I thought I saw some broken hearts because those ladies absolutely loved their jobs.

She sold it to the Squid and that was the final insult - absolutely reprehensible.

What is the saying? Watch who you step on as you work your way up the ladder because you will be meeting them on your way back down.

That's what I'm thinking. The ad is intriguing but so vague. Would love to know if anyone find
xx
Dedicated accts, few ESL, leave you alone to work.

Bad organization how? nm

I love working on Meditech. I find it faster than other programs. It really does sm
depend on the account, the version, your connection, etc. There is not a lot of donated time in my opinion. I type upwards of 3000 lines per day (65 character count, not gross) and only work 8 hours. The spellcheck is medical on the account I am on. I use my Expanders for everything. Most of us on the account I am on do over 1500 lines a day, so maybe different accounts are set up different at the actual hospital. I have never lost a report in the middle, although I read that a lot here. I have been working on it for over 3 years.
the MTSO I have been dedicated to for several years has just announced NO CHOICE on VR

So regretful that we have just been informed me of management's announcement yesterday that my accounts were going escription and absolutely no voice about cutting line rate in half . . . there is no way that an MT can edit for half the pay -- especially those of us MT's who have highly depended on their abbrevations/shortcuts/expanders.  They are not allowed in VR, nor is retyping the report !

Oh, boy . . . please let me know when you find a company who hires MT's without doing VR nor jobs going overseas.  I will be begging for a hire date with that company !

owner, not organization.

Well there is completeness and organization
and then there is padding. Tabbing would get you the kind of attention you are not looking for because that's not standard. Don't use unnecessary abbreviations, but don't be spelling out COPD every time, either. It's just too common and understood. But there are many abbreviations that doctors may say that they don't necessarily mean you don't spell out. I hear bili I type bili, but it changes to bilirubin. Same with lymphs, eos, etc. Find out the proper names of hospitals. They say RCH, you have your shortcut to put the real name in. Have shorcuts for bacterial names. I type ecoli and I get E. coli. But if I type ecolij, I get the whole thing. You'd want the whole thing at least once in the report - usually the first time and/or in the diagnosis. Things like that are legitimate. Even eratic dictators often follow the same physical exam, so at least have normals for those. Often the ROS also. And you could add the usual subheadings there even when not dictated without getting in trouble. There is no telling how your counter has been configured as far as how things are counted, but some day somebody might take a fine-tooth comb to your work, so I don't suggest you start spelling out three-digit numbers or anything else you can't justify. Other MTs see stuff like that and they will scream - padding. And if you get in bad habits it will be harder to change in the future. In other words, be honest but thorough.
They are supposedly a Christian organization

agree, IMEs are great $$, easy reports, miss them, would love to find them

What would American MTs want or expect from new MT organization or union? What kind of benefits

would you all want?  What kind of resources or services would you expect?  How about certification exams - necessary or not?  What about MT education, industry standards, etc?  Would you change some of the BOS rules?

I'm curious.  A fellow MT and I used to say the AAMT was lacking and recently with all the outsourcing and MTs losing jobs and the AAMT turning a blind eye, I've been thinking again that we need a organization that better defends and represents the American MT.

I feel like Norma Rae!

Yep, it's for selling some kind of health supplements from home, like an Amway organization. nm

I love doing pathology, but it is hard to find a position for working at home. Gross pathology is
easy, descriptive typing.  Microscopic is a little more difficult, but once you get the terminology down, it goes really quickly.  I also found it easy to get lines in with pathology.  If you've done acute care, you should not have a problem with the transition, IMHO.
Love, love, love TransTech! Not overhiring, just growing like crazy!

Did find a Wright Watson Sten-Tel in Austin if their site isn't old. Find 'em with Google. nm

Does anyone think 41 is too old to go to nursing school. I love MT but I just would love to be a
nurse.  I have such a interist in helping others and the medical world.
Love, love, love DeVenture
Super nice, flexible and just all around nice to work for.
Love, love, love Axolotl
I totally love Axolotl.  Just as A-team said, fantastic benefits.  Yes, strict schedule, but never ever had a problem getting off when I needed to.  I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.
I would love to know too, I love EXText

Love Bayscribe and love the pay
At 11 cpl I love working for MDI Maryland. Bayscribe is a breeze. The lines build up so quickly. Everything is right there on the page. Sometimes, you have to fill in patient data, but who cares.... you do get paid for it. No holiday or vacation pay as it is an IC position. It beats 8 and 9 cpl any day. IMO
Love, love Archivus
Mind my asking what your line rate is? Do you have to work a schedule? Is their platform good? Anything else?
love/hate MT, mostly love it :)
i've long been dismayed with the direction in which this profession has gone, and i agree with the person who posted that women have accepted substandard wages and/or unfair IC or employment situations. It's very sad to see how, when outsourcing became the norm, women did not adequately negotiate to, you know, pay their bills!!! It seems this has resulted in lots of undercutting and lower line rates for everyone. I see some companies slowly improving and not requiring crazy line counts and hours in exchange for paying into health insurance. i entered this profession as a single female. i married an engineer and was living mighty comfy and cushy and happily doing 4 hours at 11 cpl in the late 90s. didn't have to worry about not having bennies at all. now as a single mom with a young child, i truly struggle. but i do love my work and hold out for my specialty to keep the line count up. still, i see the glaring problems and it's just a shame. if there were an MT union, i'd join in a heartbeat. no time/energy to start one and be some kind of norma rae, though!

Ah, yes, a love/hate thing indeed!

Best to all of you wonderful mts, male and female :)
If you find
someone who is hiring for psychiatry and/or psychology, please come back to this message and email me.  I have made this post a couple of times before and have not gotten a response.
How to find JUST Ops, not H&P, DS, etc?
Any ideas?
you will probably have to find sm
a company in your country.  The companies I know of don't hire MTs out of the country.  I don't want to be rude, but just for some information, I wouldn't describe what I wanted as wanting to do reports in my spare time.  Very unprofessional.
How do I find it
How do I find it?

I would like to know too, but I am not holding my breath either.
I cant find anything on them. nm

find a new MT job or get a second job
I definitely know where you are coming from!
If you find out, let ME know - sm
Tried to find this out myself a while back and got no good answer. Seems like no one wanted to speak up. I was scared off because not one person could say one way or the other.
It COULD get better, if we could find a way to get -nm

How could we find out? nm

Cant find it either...nm

If you find out anything please let me know also...
as I was hired by them
Please find somewhere else
Please, they will not tell you anything, ever. Management changes on a daily basis, the MTs are told nothing. They will ship the work off one day, take it back, then ship it off again at their discretion. There are many GOOD companies out there, don't waste your time and talent on this place. It is apparent that their goal is to replace all American MT's with offshore, it is just a matter of time. They will treat you miserably if you decide to go there.
Where is their ad - I can't find it? nm

How to find?
I have called both the tax and the labor departments in my state and they know of no such regulations.
The way to find out might be to - sm
either have some investigative type get a job at that company's management level.

Sometimes even some hospital medical records management folks actually know where their records are REALLY being typed.

Where I used to work inhouse, that institution has a strict 'No offshoring' policy. They contract only with MTSOs who supposedly do not offshore. Yet some of it IS going offshore, and that hospital MR manager knows it, but the rest of the hospital doesn't. She & the MTSO have some sort of a sweetheart deal going, and she thinks she'll never be found out. Attempts to 'out' her secret by MTs have failed because (1) MTs are never taken seriously there, (2) she's such an adept liar that she always twists things around to come out in her favor, and (c) most of the whistle-blowers in the MT department there have either been fired or driven out.

There's such a wall between MTs & management that it's hard for the truth to be known. I think that's another reason why unionization could help us, because they've got the wherewithall to investigate issues such as cheating MTs on line counts, sending work offshore through the 'back door', etc.

If ever MTs needed someone to unite them and stand up for their cause, it's now.
So how do we find it if you do?
nm
Did you REALLY think you could find a job sm
in this field and NOT do any ESLs? Who are you joking? No such thing these days. Learn to do them all.
Can't find them
in the Yellow Pages and tried to Google that name but nothing comes up for them. I sent them a resume last night. I will let you know if anything happens. Why is it that answers to peoples' questions about companies are not showing up??? Are they being removed? I thought this board was to help people find the company that is right for them. I am not getting any replies to questions I have posed. What are they hiding? Makes me feel like this has become a shady business to be in after 20 years.
For sure. Anyway, I bet they will find something else.
nm
Another way is let them find you. sm

Post your resume on this site, they'll contact you if they're interested.  I got quite a few replies but nobody wants dialup.

IMO...you won't find one with the best of everything.
Choose what's important and then look for ones that'll be a good fit. There is no specific answer. There aren't even a specific number of answers. Different for everyone.
