I would like, with great respect, to differ with you on this. The fact that say it's a mute point illustrates the fallacy of the belief that language does not matter. I think you meant to say moot point, rather than mute point. Mute means silent; moot means it doesn't matter. Language (and I have taught three of them) does matter. It is important that we use words correctly because, as any linguistics prof will tell you, words are things. (And besides, if we are indeed language specialists, we need to know the difference between transcribers and transcriptionists, mute and moot, etc.) Where I do agree with you is when you say that we are just the most demanding and expensive resources for a company. In my opinion (and it is just that, my opinion, you are certainly free to differ) it is so important on so many levels that we do not become machines but retain our humanity. Have a great day!
