TT is a great place to work for. It is not that hard to
reach and maintain a decent line count. Incentives are fair and not to hard to reach. ExText is the best platform, at least in my 18 year experience. Great people, tons of work and the ESL percentage is about 20-25%.
Hard to get work, but feedback really great.
Wish there was so much work I could be off DQA in time, and pay the bills, it would be so wonderful! How are you doing.. Hope you are hanging in! :)
Low to no MT work is all over.... Here is my solution!
I have been working as an employee with a company and for the past 4 months the work has been low, with the last 1-2 months ridiculously low to no work at all.  There is a 1000 line requirement for benefits.... and I need benefits.  I work a part-time IC position, and guess what, it's low to virtually nothing also.  So this week, I took on a 3rd IC job, so where I normally would transcribe 1600 lines with the employee position, I only give them 1000 lines, just to keep the bennies. I will do 1000 with the third IC position, and continue to do the 600 lines with the 2nd IC position.  Thank goodness, there is no hourly requirement with any of these positions.  It takes me 3-1/2 to 4 to get 1000 lines on employee position, 2 hours to get 600 lines on 2nd IC position, and about 4 hours to get 1000 lines on 3rd IC position.   I have purposed this year to not work over 10 hours in a given day, give or take an hour or two.   So far, the past 2 days it has worked.
My solution to low work
I (thankfully) left MQ and found I had low work at the company I picked, which I liked otherwise. So I took on a second job. When there is no work at company one I just switch to company two and back and forth and I am never out of work. In talking to several of my long-time MQ friends, they ALL do this. Sure, it's sad to have to do it (and it ticks me off royally) but I have a family to feed and this is how I am doing it.
YOG before MQ -- lots of work and good income back then. nm

No solution is Precyse Solution
So sorry about what you had to go through. I truly feel for you. As good as we are, no one should stand for their crap. I certainly didn't. I could not get rid of their equipment fast enough. The day I quit is the day I boxed up their computer, called Fed-Ex and had it sent back, and then I got a new job the next day!
Marry smart! nm

Marry for money
I always made my own way.  I'm one of those dumb, independent women who does not need a man to support me.  Good thing too, since the 1st one died unexpectedly at a young age.   I wouldn't recommend marrying for money as a good solution.  What if you get old and he runs off with a younger chick?  Nope...I'd rather work in a house of ill repute before I'd marry a man I didn't love.   Well.........maybe I should say past tense.  I don't believe I could get hired in one of those places now. LOL
I gotta get out more often, marry some money. NM

Great pay rate on a 55 ccl, great lady to work for and work is not tough. sm

It is all IC work, although you still are expected to give a schedule if you are doing stat coverage.  Only major drawback is the big wait for your first check -- almost a month from the time of your first invoice.

Good luck!

I agree with one thing you say. With almost any company right now, unless you marry the job and
work 24/7 and jump through hoops, dont expect to get the best or be treated the best.  They are always looking for the new to use and abuse and thus the circle keeps going.  We all burn out being used and abused and they know that so they keep adding new MTs to use and abuse.  That is a fact in MT today.  I dont specifically know anything about these 2 companies but it is the same at the 2 places I currently work PT.  Exact same situation.  I have stopped jumping and I dont plan to do that anymore because in many cases, you still go down with the ship when they get an urge to overhire in these larger companies.  They dont sit there and pick and choose.  You just go down with the rest.  Small companies may fiddle more with that but not the larger ones.
You are pathetic! I have a great life, loving family, work for a great company.
You might want to fix that.

You really don't have to shout (angry person), but yes you are wrong!!

That is my last word to you!

I will add that getting a great pay check every other Friday from Medware really puts a huge smile on my face.
YOG - Lots of work, great office staff, great money. NM

It's a great company -- lots of work and great pay. sm
Web site is www.mditrans.net.  If you need anymore info, feel free to ask.
I am sure they work extremely hard, lol.
They are used to that from setting up their dirt houses and what not. They are used to working hard trying to fight for food scraps.
Employees that work hard
I am sure that this may be the case in some instances, but to lump sum all MTs/editors/employees is not fair and accurate.  I am a very hard working employee.  I work 7 days/nights/weekends every week.  I work and volunteer for ALL holidays even when not scheduled and I worked WHENEVER I was asked to work extra to cover for vacations or sickness.  I have not complained, I have always been SO thankful to have my job.  What did that result in?  Well, let me tell you.  I am now one of the Heartland Information Services laid off employees!!!!  It did not matter in the end how many hours/days/nights/weekends/holidays that I worked, I am no longer employed by the company I had planned to retire from!!  My loyality was betrayed and I am just supposed to keep going on and being loyal again?  Think about that one!  Respect and loyalty is a two way street.  Treat the employees how they want to be treated and you will be treated with respect and loyalty as well.  It cannot be low pay, minimal benefits and lay offs at a drop of a hat and in return expect absolute loyalty from employees.  We have to work together in the end.
Is it hard to get lines at Precyse? Does work run
nm
I work very hard, usually 7 days a week.
I work any hours needed. What is my reward? I get stuck on the garbage accounts, the ones who bellyache get the easy accounts and get put on steady accounts. I think I have learned 8 new accounts in the last 2 months, and none of them were decent accounts. My line count is good, but would be wonderful if I ever had an account I could get used to. These companies beat you up and then throw you to the dogs.

The scum that plays kiss-$$$ get paid more, take off when they want, and get choice of days off, holidays, so they can be with their ill-behaved brats whenever they want to be.

Don't tell me about ethics, tell the MTSOs they need to improve their ethics and then then they could have decent employees.
I make that much $ too but i work very hard. Its possible, not easy.

Because you keep thinking things will get better with hard work, not always.

You'll work twice as hard to get half as much, it seems

when you say "for those that work hard," what precisely do you mean? sm
Please elaborate. I'm assuming at the very least, 8 hrs/d, or more like 10 hr/d? 12 days? ??!! Ridiculous.
Or perhaps, 72 hrs/pp?
NO~thing has changed since this past

Why is it hard to produce quality work?
You are either good at your job or not. If not, then find another line of work. If you don't think you are paid enough to take the time to produce quality work, then find another company to work for.
I find it very hard to believe that all work types are on a 1-hour TAT(sm)
Are you talking about stats or everything?  Do you have this 1-hour TAT in writing?  I've never even heard of hospitals being on that tight a TAT.
Life is about choices. Nobody forces her to work so hard and
put in so many hours that she's hiring people and ignoring them.  I don't agree with that, no matter what the excuse is.  We're all busy people.  We all have lives.  That doesn't mean you have the right to mess with people's income and careers.  Employees or ICs aren't just disposable commodities that you toss aside on a whim.  It's called RESPECT for your fellow humans.
When there is a lot of work, do you find it hard to make 1100?
cause I sure do.
lol You'll be hard pressed to find work with

But a 'Thanks for Your Hard Work' email wouldn't cost them a penny :-(
It's not even about a gift, really. It's just more about the lack of acknowledgement in general.

I'm sure a lot of MTs, not just MDI people, are feeling a bit disillusioned and unappreciated this week.

I am wondering if employees with Futurenet have a hard time having adequate work flow..sm
Just started there not too long ago, but now finding out I am running out of work frequently.  I have several accounts that I can work on, but all are empty most of the time.  Have they overhired or is this the normal?
Great people to work for, but I had to leave due to lack of work. Hopefully that has changed. SM
Most of us who do not live in California had to go IC. When I was there, they did not have statutory status, although they told me they did when they hired me. Their pay for VR is VERY low, not a living wage. Many of the folks in the office are ex-YOG and great to work for/with. Good luck.
1200 lines daily is great if you have the work, personally, I never had enough work so
I left and have NEVER been sorry!
Webmedx fits that bill, great company, great benefits, great pay and always on time. NM

No outside income
I do support myself and my child on my MT pay only. I work for a wonderful company, which I will not name because a lot of people on here always have bad comments to make about them, paid by the gross line and can do about 2600 lines in 6 hours. It is just a matter of finding the right company and, for me, having the right attitude. I know comments are going to be made that no one can produce that many lines in 6 hours but remember, they are gross so you have to take away 25-30% of the total line for cpl.
income
I have not made that little of money since the first year I got started doing MT. You consider that good money??? If I made anything close to under $30 an hour I would consider it a very bad production day... I am not trying to brag either. I am just amazed that in this day and age and for what we have to deal with day in and day out, that $24 is good money.
My income is way, way down
due to lack of work, and I see so many people in management resigning and I am worried.
MT IS THE ONLY JOB WHERE INCOME...SM
decreases on a yearly basis, as opposed to other industries where your salary is supposed to increase with each year of experience.
There is a solution to the what you think is

It is very simple.  DON'T READ THE POST if it will upset you that much.  If you already knew it would happen, don't pour oil on fire by telling people not to talk about it. This isn't the Transcend forum where people aren't allowed to talk about what bothers them. If you feel uncomfortable with the posts here, stick with the company forum and maybe you won't be in so much pain.

I think that was the solution they came up
with for keeping up with TAT. For years, I never had any problems - then new management steps in with new ideas such as overstaff every account so they not only keep all accounts current, they also don't have to pay bonuses or overtime.

MQ MANAGEMENT HOW LONG DO YOU THINK THIS JOYRIDE WILL LAST FOR YOU?

SIGNED,

FRUSTRATED CHICAGO FULL-TIME MT

P.S. COMPLAINING ONLY GETS YOU MORE BACK-UP ACCOUNTS. I MADE MY LINE COUNT WITH NO PROBLEMS WITH ONE ACCOUNT FOR A LONG TIME AND NOW I HAVE 3 ACCTS ON 3 DIFFERENT PLATFORMS!! AND HAVE TO WORK 12 HOURS TO GET IN 8 HOURS OF WORK. I ACTUALLY HAVE 5 ACCTS BUT I REFUSE TO WORK ON MORE THAN 3. IT'S NOT WORTH IT...

WHAT'S A GAL GOT TO DO TO GET A STABLE ACCOUNT AGAIN?

THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT NOW OFF TO SCROUNGE AROUND FOR MORE LINES.
My solution........sm
I had almost 100 dictators who used normals. As you know, it could drive you crazy not to mention put you in the poor house. I finally decided to make separate folders for each doc and used MS Word to make a separate document for every normal exam. It took me over a week of my own time, but well worth it in the long run.
And here's another solution
I work for a hospital who pays up to double the lines for the difficult docs. People seem to like to get those docs (I sure do), especially when they've invested the time to get good at doing them.

If you never learn them, and never get proficient enough to do them independently, you don't get the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

It's a win-win situation, I think.
no - and the solution to this

is in the voting booth not the company board.

SOLUTION
Keep the computer and/or other equipment until they call you for it. Then, explain kindly how you kept it back because you heard that there was a problem with the company reimbursement and wanted to avoid that problem for yourself. Then let them know that you will return it in PERSON if at all possible and expect a check that same day. You could write any trip expenses off on your taxes and be sure you are reimbursed at the same time. Once I did this a few years ago for the same reasons, different company. I did receive my equipment deposit back on the spot.
I may have a solution for you ...
Please EM me.
So, the solution is... SM
Just don't answer our phones???

First I was paranoid about getting a pay cut. Now I'm paranoid about NOT receiving a phone call from The Power that Be. Maybe some of us fell through a crack... or maybe the fierce anti-Acusis posting of the last couple of days changed someone's mind about delivering bad news to all MTs at the same time. After all, if we all quit at the same time, who'll be around to learn the CDFIZ or whatever the heck the new program is.

so your solution would be?
If you're an IC *YOU* should be calling the shots, not someone you work for.

Everybody here has options.

The MT can acquiesce and work the hours her EMPLOYER is requiring her to.

The EMPLOYER could be human and work with the MT or NOT.

The MT COULD take action against the EMPLOYER for a) offering medical advice, b) treating an employer situation as a contractor situation and not paying taxes.

So it's not a matter of being in this MT's shoes. It's a matter of being a savvy MT and knowing how to run your CONTRACTING BUSINESS or sucking up being paid like an IC and treated like an employee.

income the first year
So true. I have been saying that for the last two years!  All we heard about in class is how much money we could make and how many jobs there were. They forgot to mention that those figures pertained to experienced transcriptionists.  I just completed my first year working for a local practice and will probably make about $10,000 after countless hours in front of the computer.  The truth is you go to school for a year or two, and when you get out, you will continue to be schooling for quite some time.  It's several years of investment to actually start earning a real income. I am just ready now to feel confident about taking on additional work, and my goal is to double what I did this year by this time next year. More would be great, BUT I have learned to be realistic.  I wish the schools would be honest about the investment involved.  I like what I am doing, and I feel like I am at a crossroads where I am choosing to continue to go forward, but it's been hard to hang on financially to get to this point. I have other work that I do that I actually thought I would have been in a position to give up quickly after school. Students should be given a realistic picture of the time and investment involved, so they can make an educated decision about going forward with the course.  But, I doubt that will happen.  I think enrollment would drop substantially.
