I think it is the Senior Recruiter.....
who placed the ad.  Maybe the headline was a mistake or possibly to get attention.  Either way, I do not think they are hiring for a Senior Recruiter to transcribe.
senior citizens still working
I am 62 years old, but work as an IC for two private accounts. I know what you mean by the pain and yes, it does take me longer, not because of pain, but tiredness. As long as God gives me the strength and mentality, I will continue.
Any companies hire Senior Citizens

Just wondering how many MTs are out there who are past 60 years of age and still working full-time and transcribing more than minimum weekly lines.   I am hitting 60 soon and am noticeably starting to slow down.   Used to be able to meet minimum lines in an 8 hour day, now it is taking almost 9 hours.  Need to work full-time for the insurance, so part-time is not an option.  Don't want to go to editing or voice recognition because the problem isn't so much the typing as it is the sitting.  Tried lots of different chairs and back supports, but still get back, neck, and shoulder pain by the end of the day, which causes me to lose concentration and hence takes me longer to transcribe reports.  Getting up to move around just makes the day longer and when there is not much work, I can only work a straight 8 hours (no 12 hour window) with my current company.   I don't think I am in jeopardy of losing my job because of not meeting minimum in the near future, but wonder if it is even worth it to continue to try, or is it time to get out of medical transcription entirely and go work at WalMart.

So, any MTs in their golden years been hired lately and with what company?  Any MTs still working at 65 years of age?   Thanks.

I forgot Senior Transcriptionist Botware!

TransTech provides absolutely benefits for their senior MT's, but your protected ! ! !

Strange you didn't know you were pregnant; hate people who use the system for having fun and getting pregnated.  Just what this world needs is more kids!!!!

Lots of benefits for the pregnant, as the mgmt-type people at TT want those types of benefits for themselves !   They choose benefits desired by themselves, such as the hybrid vehicle -- who cares about???

IMHO you should lose your job, just as we mature MT's would lose our job at TT if we were to miss months of work !!!!!

Are you a senior/mature MT? I think they are putting health insurance costs into hiring process

These companies can get CHEAP labor because some girls have small children and husbands and will sell themselves short when it comes to $$$$$.   With the offshoring and some U.S. MT's working for less than, that has destroyed any hope of a good wage or especially a raise.

Then retire.

They need to have Deb retire completely
and have no contact with anyone they put in her place. She hates the world and passes her personal dislikes and vendettas down to everyone else. She has no management skills, no people skills, and operates like she has a mixmaster in her hands at all times.
Well I'm not worried. I'm going to retire at 50
so only have 5 more years to go.  I can't see VR being a threat, at least not on my account.  I do all Ops, mostly ESL mumblers.  My hospitals are so particular about every little thing that they'd never accept the work that VR turns out.  IF It should go to VR in the next 5 years, someone still needs to proof it and by then my wrists will surely need a rest and I could do twice the lines a day that I could typing.
Lucky you! Wish I could retire!

You know, it occurred for me to retire to one
of these off-shore places. Keep my dual citizenship. Live large on a tropical island, continue doing transcription and get the good work. Seriously. I'd make so much more over there for the cost of living and then, I could finally make ends meet...
What do you say, a bunch of us can infiltrate these places in the offices on the other islands, and then we'd have USA Transcriptionist as the offshore labor? No? Hmmm. Just a thought. LOL.
I am going to retire in four years
and go around the world. I have always wanted to take six months and go to every country I have wanted to see and so I will.
I'd go there, sue their dingies and retire.. NM

Because I retire in 7 months - WHOPPEEE!
And, really, spewing venom everywhere?

To quote JPJ - I have not yet begun to spew.

Yoo hoo! Black Swan! I'm 60 yrs old. I just want to retire.
xx
Oh, horse poop, anyone can retire
I can retire, no big deal about that. Stated the facts, she is retired and she has come here to gab. I don't think she is particularly lucky. I am the age of retirement but choose to work because I want to make double the money. Don'cha think that is smart? I also don't have to worry about working, just do because I want to.
Sigh. I had not planned to retire for
probably another 10-15 years, if my wrists hold out that long, and had fully intended/hoped to have MDI be my last MTSO.  I have waded through a lot of frogs before finding my proverbial prince in the MT world and had hoped to finish out my career here.  Now I'm just utterly disheartened by this recent turn of events.  I'm looking into finishing my degree (wanted to do that anyway) and seeing what my options are after that, may have to get out of the profession altogether.  It's depressing, as it's a job I love that keeps me challenged on a daily basis.  I just have no desire to start anew with another company.
Soooo nice. This is the place I will retire from. nm

Very true, really long weekends at times, but no real vacation in 7 years.I'll travel when retire

Love this company - want to retire with this company...sm
Been with them for nearly 2 years now and absolutely love them. I make my living with them - I don't do this for fun money. I think the dictators are pretty decent - you will always have your good and bad ones. You just have to get used to them. I love the account I am on - been with the same one since I started. They are a VERY fair company to work for.
