My pont - availability

The touted reason for EMR is availability. The records supposedly are available on the computer in the patient's room. But turns out it's no different than old paper records if they can't/don't access them. They wasted a serious amount of the staff time and caused patient distress. In my specific instance, we sure couldn't see any improvement. When the medical staff used to take histories and later dictate it to the MT Dept, they at least looked at the patient at the same time.

work availability
I work second shift and always have plenty of work. Have you thought about asking for a backup account? That may solve the problem. As with any company, there are feasts and famines, unfortunately just part of the business. Things will probably pick up soon.
availability depends on what state
I live in Idaho and here it is Blue Cross or nothing, so I don't have any choice if I need to purchase insurance on my own (which I do), but it just depends on your state.  States with large populations seem to have a lot more choices.  Try googling Texas health insurance (or whatever state you are in) to find out what is available to you.
Any info on DSG where I have applied as far as availability of work, etc. nm
