Most of these folks haven't got a clue as to the seriousness of what they are going. God help anybody who stored my medical record on their private computer. I would sue them from here to eternity. This is one of the problems with people working at home. I myself have legal insurance covering me and have a very clear understanding of HIPAA. I have a feeling that many docs just hire the cheapest and do not realize that they are endangering their patents' privacy and their own incomes. If the privacy of any of these medical records is breached, the lawyers will come after the docs (who have the deepest pockets) but the MT will certainly be right on the firing line as well as he or she should be.

Yes, they do have that option but they like my services very much, wanted to keep me, and backed right off with their requests for specific hours.

Bravo for your post! I absolutely agree with you. That person wanted to only know--and give--the minimum. Just like there are stars who are at the top of the class (or the workplace), so are there slackers who only want to get the minimum. These are the same people who give our profession a bad name because they not regard it as a profession, only a supposedly (ha) way to stay home and make easy money. The world will always live down to these people's expectations because they give so very little and have so little pride in themselves and absolutely no incentive to learn. I think that over the next five years or so we will see a winnowing out of the profession due to the current economic climate and those who don't think they have to know the difference between generic and brand, who don't want to learn and grow, will be left behind. And I will not shed a tear for them.

I agree with you completely. Too bad the OP did not make herself clear on that at the beginning, n'est-ce pas?
