They will push you as far as you let them.  No way!  I would get this clear up front IN WRITING, whether IC or employee -- you INSTALL ONLY SOFTWARE NECESSARY TO DO THE JOB YOU ARE HIRING ME FOR.  No spyware, no snooping, no changing anything on my computer without my express knowledge or permission.  If they insist on installing the software themselves, be there and observe exactly what they are doing.  And don't EVER allow them to change anything in your registry.  I've had tech people installing their software ruin a perfectly good laptop by doing this and will also void a lot of warranties.  Remember, THIS IS YOUR OWN PROPERTY -DON'T BE BULLIED!!


If they're so worried about confidentiality issues so as not to allow you to install another company's software on your computer (which I don't think is their issue at all, secondly, have no right to forbid you to do that.) let them provide you with a computer and they can do what they want.
