There are some things that are rewarding (sm)
For instance, I like knowing that I'm helping make sure the patients have accurate information in their medical records because I really care about what I'm doing.

The part that isn't rewarding is having to continually be reminded that some people are just in this for the money and couldn't care less about whether or not what they type is correct, just as long as they type something. I know everybody makes mistakes, but when the same mistakes are made over and over again, then you reach a point when you realize the feedback you've done on your own time, with no compensation whatsoever, is going totally ignored. The bulk of my editing is for things done offshore and it's shocking to see how much those MTs don't care!

Editing is fine if you want to personally feel like you're doing something important but it can be very stressful too because while MTs are allowed to make a lot of mistakes and no one says a word, if you as the Editor miss even one of their mistakes and fail to correct it, then the whole thing ends up being your fault.

Maybe if the compensation was more in line with the responsibility it wouldn't be so bad, but unfortunately, that's not the case. Editors traditionally get the smallest piece of the pie with the biggest pieces going to the MTSOs and the MTs.
Welcome! Hope you find it rewarding! nm

I understand; if she ever finds out who you are, believe me
you will be punished in one way or another. They are very much like that. She, especially. Once I had a problem and asked to speak with her in confidence if she would keep it between us and she said no she could not keep it in confidence. Stupid me for confiding the problem anyway. They cover for each other (the liaisons) and lie to Dorothy so don't expect her help. They definitely do pat themselves on the back and do nothing to assist the MTs. Let's see...once I was let go because I was in the hospital but then when I came back the refused to let me work my specialty. One time I asked for an account, they said no....3 years later in response to a different issue on a different account they offered me the account I had asked for 3 years prior. That was their way. If you complained, you got something worse and worse and worse and worse...plain and simple punishment for evne dare asking a question! Inuendo, etc...what a crock! I'll take my day in court because it is only libel and slander if it is not true and what I speak is the truth. My liaison lied about me multiple times saying I didn't keep my commitment and work such and such a day when I did and if anybody bothered to look in the system they would have seen that I did but since she wrote it in an e-mail and copied it to Dorothy, it was taken as the gospel. (After all, she was Dorothy's personal friend brought in to be a liaison so she could do no wrong - never managed a thing just picked out the good reports out from underneath the MTs and never answered e-mails) When there was no work I experienced the same thing (i.e. why didn't you go over to such and such account, there was plenty there...when just before I had been told not to go there, etc.) They don't know what they're doing, don't care, and no good deed goes unpunished. I feel for you; whatever you do though do not confide in her who you are unless you are ready to leave.
If the hospital finds out will they pull the account? nm

This is a person who finds it SO easy to judge
and assume, and preach - that because HER life works, everyone else's should as well. Got a news bulletin for the OP - there is NOTHING mature about posting a one size fits all philosophy with a 'holier than thou' tone to boot.

Perhaps the OP doesn't realize this about people who fall from financial security so that a new pay schedule can be devastating: There but for the grace of God go you.'
