Nothing hard, just ask to spell, talk in general, nothing major, about 45 mins. sm

I have 25 years experience and they offered me 8 cpl for a ESL account, which I chose not to take.  Good luck to you.

I think they will hire PT if it is a hard to fill time slot. I would talk
to them and see. They go both by hours worked and lines transcribed since you are employee status. The insurance is First Health and the coverage is great. We had Aetna prior to this and First Health offers better coverage for less money. Vacation accrues immediately but you cant' take it for the first 90 days. I think you get 11 days the first year and it increases every year after that. I think the max is either 21 or 26 days per year.

Hope that helps.
Horrible spell check, had to C&P onto word doc. to use spell checker. Slow, used ADT which did not

Wait, 500 mins. in 4-6 hours??? Was that a typo?
I don't see how that would be possible to accomplish even if you're lightning fast.
They use ExText, min. of 500 lpd, you get assigned mins. of dictation, make your own

I know how to spell, but you dont have to know how to spell so much
as how to look things up.

Why are you cutting on me? I know how to spell. I won my school spelling bee and went to state.

The poster above me was putting people down that cant spell.

You can work at McDonald's but I am doing fine with what I am doing.

Thanks anyway for your wonderful advice but i dont need it
Men, in general, do that a lot....not just....NM

In General

I for one, also feel that there has been enough said about a certain companies on this board  -- I work for a small service (probably less than 100 employees) and am treated fairly  -- my second paycheck was late, but only due to a goof at the end of the major hospital and the invoice  -- I was with a company where I was paid every two weeks like clockwork, but occasional gitches happen  -- and you have to plan for those things.  The subject though with this one company has become way too rendundant and I for one feel it's time to move onward and upward.

It is general transcription
Very hard work transcribing a bunch of people talking at once.
As a general rule....

75% is a pretty heavy figure on terms of ESL.  That sounds like an account no one else wants to do.

What general area
The 3 big ones in my area have most of their MTs at home with full benefits and incentive plans. Most of their systems require high speed and some have a mileage limit for repairs, etc. Start calling all the local hospitals within 100 mile radius of you and see if they have MTs working from home. Most require a short period of in-house training but if you're experienced they usually send you home in a week.

just using general examples here...
not really talking specifics. and if you are making 10 cpl, you'd better rejoice and count your lucky stars. I was making that 5 years ago before I went with a big MTSO for health insurance, when they dropped us back to where I was making less than minimum wage, I quit. I'm now making 8 cpl...and I have 16 years of exp! I'm just saying, a rate of 6 cpl is a JOKE...you set your own standards, but we have to JUST SAY NO to the low wages they try to offer us now.
Well the questions are also so general

I think if people thought before they posted for example which platform, flexibility, etc.

As soon as someone puts that they had a bad experience, they are told that's not true, etc. etc.  It's a neverending thing on this company board.

If someone says they have had a good experience, then everyone starts applying and the company overhires and then everyone is mad about that.

It makes no sense to me.

Letting someone know they are able to search the archives is not rude at all.  It's a matter of using the correct string of characters and spending the time to do it though.

offshoring in general
I also think a lot of the services have sold their clients a bill of goods, convincing them that Turn Around Time is the big issue. This way they can justify sending the work out of the country to be done overnight, thus a bigger profit for them, and at the same time the clients buy into it because there is not enough quality control on their end to actually check what is coming back. I have seen a trend though in my area to bring back more in-house staff because of quality issues with outsourcing.
As a general idea,
people usually say you need about 2 cpl more to make up for paying your own SS, the employer not paying half of your health insurance, no sick days, no vacation days, no holidays, no short or long term disability, no unemployment, no dental, paying an accountant to help with your taxes, etc.... In my opinion, that stuff is actually worth more than 2 cpl, but that at least gives you an idea of what to aim for.
I have to believe there are some major problems
Some key players resigning and all the messing with wages. Makes you wonder. I have quit so I don't have to worry about it.
Wow, that's a major change.
They used to pay $10.00 per hour for the first 90 days and then put you on production. Yikes.
holidays--major ones. sm

Doesn't matter to me--with all the overtime available at Amphion, it's pretty easy to whittle down using PTO to a couple of hours instead of 7 or 8.  But more importantly to me is that as long as I don't have to work the major holidays that are most important to my family--Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's--I'm a very happy camper.  I was an IC for a long time before Amphion and was able to take my very first vacation in 5 years last year.

It just depends on what is most important to each individual.

They are not a major company, to say the least. sm
For a small company like that, that is probably a good starting rate.  Where did you graduate from?  Webmedx takes new graduates for more than that.
I think there is a major flaw
in your thinking when you say something like DRC would allow themselves to be smooth talked by a company. I just think that is a very odd thing to say. On the other hand, go on your merry way - it might mean more work for me! And if speaking intelligently and rationally or seeing a bigger picture makes me sound like management then I guess it's better than sounding like someone who has given up on their job before they even know the reality of what is to come or someone making blanket statements and judgments that do little except invite more of the same. I don't know the future. Acusis may well be the new Evil Empire, but until that is revealed to me personally I opt not to assume it to be the case. I guess optimism is a luxury I have; to each his own. I have no fear of finding work elsewhere with my numbers, I just don't see the need to quit before anything has started.
Sorry - its just that I have a major problem with -
.
12,000 lines? OMG - what a major RIP-OFF!
Most other companies have a minimum of 5500-6000 lines. How dumb does that company think MTs are? Whatta buncha c__p.
Yep, just one more of the lies. Major
account was VERY unhappy when they found out work was going to India, which is one of the main reason they lost it.  See what it cost them in the end though.
Yes, the 6 major holidays, but...sm

...usually there is no work at all.  I was told that this depends on the account though.  And your rate is x1-1/2 is paid for work done on the 6 major holidays.

major transition
I just stopped working for them a couple of months ago and there is a lot going on.  It is true that a lot of American QAs lost their jobs, but now the Indian team leads are losing their jobs and they are bringing in all American tead leads and management.  I do not believe they are headed for bankruptcy, but just going through a major transition.
Major Vent - fed up
I have been doing this for 12+ years, and I have decided this is a stupid and impossible profession. An MT should not have to go over and over voice files to hear and understand what at doctor says 3, 4, 5 and 6 times to understand what he is saying. If you do, that means he is not interested in making sure you know and understand.  This really hit me today.  IF a person were talking to you, would you have to ask him to repeat himself over and over again if he really wanted to talk to you?  More so for patient care.  If a doctor actually cared about making sure that the patient's information was accurate, would he take such risks that the person on the other end would not understand what he was saying?
major vent

I especially like the PAs who mumble and don't even know how to pronounce the medications and believe they are actually MDs

major vent
What's really fun is when they spell the really obvious words and then slur the important ones! Gotta love the docs!
Major pay-cut was one of the "shenanigans".

My comment is about posters in general.
I've never worked for KS and know nothing about them.

Nothing on this board tells me anything about them either. That is my point.

What is on this board is completely anonymous and we have no way to know who is actually posting and if there is any truth to it.

TransHealth - General question please
Can you tell me how work is picked up?  Do you load a certain amount at once, or is it a pickup one job at a time situation?  Also, how is the platform to use?  Do you have to work weekends, or is that optional?  Thinking of applying there.  TIA.
In general, has VR been successful for most companies? Thanks. nm

Try the Attorney General's Office...
for your State. Worked for me and I was an IC. Got my last check. Good luck.
I did not mean that is what they are doing. I was just making a comment in general. sm
I used to waitress, and you did not get the best stations or the best shifts until you moved up. My brother is an ER doctor. He was on midnights for years until there was an opening on days. His wife is a new nurse and always has to work every holiday and off-shift that there is as she has no seniority. My DH is a machinist. Whenever he switched jobs in the past, he was put on 3rd shift until someone left or was fired on 2nd and then 1st shift.

I just figured that MT would be the same. When I started at the hospital I am at, I got stuck with every weekend and holiday and evening for the first year. I just accepted it as the way things should be done. Why would services be any different? You should make someone new feel welcome, but the long-standing employees would resent it if newly hired employees get the best accounts and the best doctors. Kind of like paying your dues and proving that you are a good employee before they put you in the best positions.
In general, small companies
I just left one of the big companies because I won't do ASR because of the decreased pay. Smaller companies are usually straight transcription only, and I am now with one of those. There are quite a few out there.
escription is a general issue
If you look on the website for escription you will see a style guide that has a lot of nit picky format rules. It requires a lot of remembering little format things that we wouldn't normally do. They really should have someone to edit and someone else to make the format changes. it really is cumbersome and you can't make any money.
Transcription companies in general
AMEN SISTER!  couldn't have said it better
I agee, but the new accounts are major
They certainly don't want the new MTs they hired to change their mind, so a mighty nice incentive to stick around. I agree compensation should be offered, but at least we will have more work than we know what to do with once the new hospitals get their technical problems fixed.
like I said below major abuse of power
only 2 account coordinators worth their salt, if they cake walked into their position they are on a power trip and don't know what in beans they are doing, QA is just a mess that is pathetic esp. the upper crust there.
They lost some major accounts, one to
voice recognition and the other was overflow work but still it's gone. THey are hoping site 120 and the clinics that go with it do not work out with voice recognition since a lot of the docs were hard.
After 18+ years I'm suffering MAJOR

burnout and my production has suffered, but I still am able to support myself and my family (My DH works so I don't have to, though I have been sole support in the past).  I am not a job hopper.  I was with one company 13 years and only left because they lost the account I worked on and I didn't want to do clinic work.  I've been with my current company almost 7 years, so things were different then.  I do make more than most MTs, though I haven't had a raise in 5 years and a few benefits have been taken away.    This past Sunday Parade magazine did a series on what people make and I make almost twice what a medical secretary was making (and I don't work 24/7 either).

I won't say my company's name because they aren't hiring and haven't hired in about 2 years, simply because there isn't any turnover.

after each major upheaval through the last few years...
their numbers of MT have dwindled.  For people just starting out its probably okay because you do not have anything else to compare it to. Like what used to be there is no longer. You can't judge until you walked in someone else's shoes.
Major turnover with new pay scale...
hmm...I wonder why!
I work for them - no major complaints
Take the negatives with a grain of salt... they have been very fair with me and *never* miss a payperiod.

it is major medical coverage at best
affordable maybe
I'm not management - major staffing changes and

growth just in the last week alone - all for the better.  Just be patient and it'll be worth your while.   You won't be disappointed.     I'd give it another day or two and call them just to follow up.

Keystrokes is the best so far in my long and varied career!

All the major ones do. Go to Job Seeker's board,
they tell you their benefits.
Yes there is a major backlog on that account
nm
I understand some of their major accounts are going to VR.. sm
so you may want to reconsider applying.
