I think they will hire PT if it is a hard to fill time slot. I would talk

to them and see. They go both by hours worked and lines transcribed since you are employee status. The insurance is First Health and the coverage is great. We had Aetna prior to this and First Health offers better coverage for less money. Vacation accrues immediately but you cant' take it for the first 90 days. I think you get 11 days the first year and it increases every year after that. I think the max is either 21 or 26 days per year.

Hope that helps.

Time slot

I worked for HealthScribe and left shortly before the Spheris take over; but when I was training at HealthScribe they had us pick 3 different time slots as well. I did get my first choice (as I think most, if not everyone, did).

I was wondering how Spheris is compared to HealthScribe and if the take over actually made things better. I really did not enjoy my time at HealthScribe but I'm sure it was due to my teamleader and my accounts. I had asked several times to be taken off my primary account (it was a high volume ESL account) but to no avail. I hope things are better now.

Best of luck to you.

Here is the reason that rad job is hard to fill...
Pay is by the report. As I am training, the woman training me states that I will be doing a lot of diagnostic studies, that the reason is they are dictated during those hours. So, I just imagined myself typing huge reports for a buck and a quarter with no benefits and figured she was warning me before I got in too deep. If that is the account which is in the Houston area.

Now, I guess I am glad it happened since the word lay offs sends us all into a state of panic and anxiety equivalent to fight or flight and is an exhausting state especially while trying to produce perfect work.
Yes they hire from outside and need to fill
QA doesn't always pay the bills.
yeah, seems it is hard to fill 2nd shift. nm
.
Try TransTech. I know that they are really flexible for hard to fill slots.

Any companies out there where you do not have to fill in a time sheet or on a time clock?
I would like to do my lines and be done, and still get my benefits.  Any companies out there that go by line production rather than hours to qualify for bennies?
No, not a time clock. You just fill out a time sheet sm
with your days and times and lines and email it every 2 weeks.

It really seems to be a great place to work so far -- the people are great and the work has not run out.  I have been paid more, but then again, I am an employee and have benefits and do not have to mess with that tax hassle anymore, so I'm happy.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Nothing hard, just ask to spell, talk in general, nothing major, about 45 mins. sm
I have 25 years experience and they offered me 8 cpl for a ESL account, which I chose not to take.  Good luck to you.
You fill in a time sheet
but why dread it? attitude is 60% of the challenge (or more). You might just like it better, i do.
I don't think any of them do, but some of them require VERY little time to fill in.
.
You fill out a schedule a month at a time..sm
and you can change it at anytime.  You are not required to work weekends.  The work is pooled, they use ExText.  They are wonderful!
You fill out a time sheet. If you need to make a change sm
to your schedule, you just email them.  They seem pretty flexible about everything.

Hope this helps.

How many companies do not require you to fill out a time clock? NM
Thanks.
Does DQS track your time for payroll, or do we fill in our own timesheet on-line? nm
nm
They are advertising for full time HIM now, do they still hire part time? nm

part-time IC is 5000/pay period and full time IC is 10,000 per pay period. Need to talk with
recruiter about cpl, I'm sure it varies with experience.
I hear people talk union all the time, but no one ever

does anything about it.  Personally I would never join one anyway so I don't care.  I am not a single mom, but for one year my DH took off work to go to school and I was the sole support of our family.  I paid all the bills, including insurance, though mine was not $700/mo.  We didn't have $$ for lots of extras, but all of our normal bills were paid and our house payment was $895/mo.

I only worked about 6 hours/day at that time, though sometimes worked less and sometimes more.

Just because one person can't do 2500 lines/day or be self-supporting, doesn't mean that some of us can't.   I make good money and could make more if I wanted to work more, but I don't.

No one is forcing you to be an MT.  If you are unhappy with the pay, etc. find something else.   Companies, MT or not, have to look out for their bottom line.   MT companies are now in competition with Indian companies, or US fronts for Indian companies, who will undercut any line rate to the customer, so in order for MT companies to keep accounts they have to maintain rates.   I know of one local company who went out of business because while he had not raised his rates in about 8 years, he just could not compete with other offshore companies.

It would have been put in a slot machine otherwise.

Your OT goes into slot machines, that's why.

It's a hard time for all of us
I know every one of us involved is very torn, stressed out and I think we should cut one another some slack.

A big huge to all my fellow DRCer's. RIP, DRC.
I had a hard time following the OP

I wondered if maybe the OP was just too upset to be posting - or did I have a brain fart - to be able to post cohesively, but it seems someone else was able to follow the logics of it through.  I can't be mad at anyone for _jipping_ me out of lines if I am responsible for sending in the invoice.  As someone else said, it was a lesson learned.  3000 lines at say, 8 cpl, would just about have paid for a reputable line counting program, especially if you add in losing 3-some hours of valuable time from reinstalling programs that went haywire after downloading freebies which seemed to have caused more problems than they solved.  Some people learn more easily than others.  kaysarasara (not defending the misspelling at this time of night)

They no longer hire part-time and may be eliminating part-time employees within the next 6 months.
They are going to have those that are PT go FT if possible. Some accounts require 1 weekend day, but not all. Most transcriptionists have 1 account with 1 back-up account. I know that they are hiring for hospital accounts in medical records and radiology right now.
Thanks for your replies. I'm having a really hard time (SM)
making the decision of whether to stay put or take a leap of faith and go with TransTech.
I am sorry you had a hard time but that is not my experience.
I don't spend any more time on Amphion's demog screen than I did on MQ's.
I have a very hard time believing that.
I've turned up the sound so fast the voice was nearly Mickey Mouse, with almost perfect VR and was unable to get more than 500 lines in that hour. It was an amazing hour, so much so that I haven't forgotten, a couple of corrections only the entire hour with very large reports, and you're saying you got 800 lines in an hour and 15?

Something's off.

We are having a hard enough time helping ourselves
What makes you so special?
I'm having a hard time believing YOU SAW A CONTRACT - unless you are someone that
works on the inside of Diskriter. None of the transcriptionists know how much Diskriter is charging each client. So go ahead, oh wise one, enlighten us please.
phanthom = ghost with a hard time

I had a hard time as a statutory employee, but
now that I am a regular employee and have to have a set schedule I am WAYYYYY more disciplined. I guess I actually needed that boss hanging over me (not literally, LOL) to make sure I work and make $$$$$. Best of luck to you.
If your on Escription you may have a hard time with the adapter.
I tried to have my 9-pin foot pedal that I had to use with Escription be converted to USB with an adapter from Radio Shack and it would not work. Pretty much what I have found is that if you are on the ES platform you just need to get a 9-pin. Do they not provide you with that?
In this day and time it is really hard to find a job that pays
anything decent and not work weekends. Maybe a smaller company, but the larger ones are almost all on Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs.
I think it's a lot slower. I'm having a hard time getting lines, but I'm
nm
I did, but I have a real hard time believing
that anyone pays editing at transcription rates. I am wondering if it will be the transcription rate where they try to pay you 5-6 cpl..but who knows. I applied a while back, even four years of experience on that particular platform and I have not heard a word.
Axolotl - anyone ever had a very hard time making ..... SM

the required line count per day?  I have been plenty long enough to be making the line count all the time, but for some reason, I have never quite gotten there - at least consistently.  Now, I am not the fastest MT anymore, but I have always been able to do more than a minimum such as 1200 lpd.  I like the company (not the accounts so much, though), but this has made me seriously doubt my ability to produce.  Just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and then left and did better line-wise,,,,if so, where?  TIA.

The reason PT people have a hard time/
is because the majority of PTers are very cavalier about schedules.  They log on or log off at will, despite the fact they agreed to work specific days and hours.  I'm sure you are very reliable, but even the company I work for will not hire PT anymore because they are either undependable or they work a month or two and quit.  That's a lot of energy the company has to put in for no payoff.
Getting hard for full time employees

I'm having a hard time believing the MDI-FL transition

was all that smooth.  From the looks of it, there were lots of problems and people from MDI-FL felt the same way the current MDIers do.

Anyone use TimeTrax as a time clock? Easy, hard,
s
That is ridiculous! Always, always on time. Besides, the don't even hire ICs.
x
I believe they do hire part time
I found pay to be above what most companies are offering these days, great benefits, and good positive people to work for.
Do they hire part-time?? n/m

I believe they only hire full-time.
NM
Yes, they do hire part-time - sm
I don't think they are hiring at this time but it is worth putting your name in. They have a website. If you are good, I don't see why you would fail the test.
She says since then only hire IC so I thought time

Does MDI Hire Part Time IC's.....
I just looked on their web site and did not see any available jobs, so they might not be hiring at all. Any advice helpful. Thanks.
spheris has a hard time paying their referral bonuses as well.
Spheris has a hard time paying for referrals too...just put you in a drawing for some prize. if you win, great if not, then who cares.

I had a hard time making money. Nice people though! nm

I am having a hard time understanding why companies consistently overhire when they run an ad.
They have to know that people that need a certain amount of income are either going to quit or cut back and get a second job.  What does it gain them.  I would think this constant hiring and hiring and training would get very old and certainly has to impact quality.
Does Keystrokes hire part-time? nm
