You almost made it through the post..
Okay, you almost made it through the post and you were being positive and encouraging until you got to the part about there are a lot of people who think they can transcribe and cannot...

Just because someone had a bad experience with your company does not mean they are a substandard transcriptionist. Their pay is low for the industry and the incentive plan makes no sense. I left because I don't believe in what is happening in Trinidad. I was always able to transcribe enough lines and always had a 99%+ QA score.
Your post just made my day! n/msg
    ;D
Above post was made by me, not QTme, sorry.

I think this is the 3rd post you've made sm
about this.  If you only had 8 days into this job, just let it go and move on.  You sound hysterical.
Your post made me laugh, then cry.
Shift differential does not exist at Acusis. Weekend differentials were calibrated in the same way wages were. In order to get a weekend differential, you have to work and achieve your line count on both Saturday and Sunday...so if you've got a Sunday thru Thursday schedule, you're out of luck. Tuesday thru Saturday? Screw you. Plus, with a lot of 'files not available' (no jobs), at least the last Saturday of every pay period has everybody on line trying to squeeze out a few lines...which means that Saturday and Sunday you're not going to get your line count, which means even if you threw family life out the window and chained yourself to your desk, you're still not going to get the weekend differential. If you ever decide to 'share the wealth' and drop your company name, please feel free to let me know. 25+ years of transcription has got to be worth better treatment that I'm getting now.
A post was made asking for opinions. I replied. sm

Part of the reason I replied was because I did go to management, several times in fact, and either there were no replies whatsoever or the replies were in disagreement with others in management, leaving me wondering which one was correct, or they were replies to simply pacify with no intention of correcting.  I'm not trying to flame the company. If my experience seems like a flame, it is because there is a problem and exposing it is like exposing dirty laundry, I guess.  It isn't meant to dissuade anyone or persuade any else for that matter.  It is simply MY experience.  Like I said before, I am not a disgruntled employee.  I am merely experiencing some things in the company that differ from what others are going through and I am simply expressing my experiences on this forum because of what I stated before about intimidation coming from management on the internal forum.

You are absolutely right that there are many, many employees of Transcend that are extremely happy.  I'm not among the ones who have flamed anyone for posting postive experiences. I have/had been one of those happy employees for years.  There are also many that have been so fed up they have quit. There are also current employees who are in my situation as well, but are afraid to talk about it.  At this point in time, I fall in the middle grouping.  I'm not saying it's a bad company to work for.  Again, I am merely expressing my experience, and has been said many, many times before, I'm quite confident that people on this board have the ability to know what is best for them in a company and aren't going to let the posting of a few happy cheerleaders or a few disgruntled ex-employees be the basis for the decision what company to choose or not to choose.

All I am saying is that if you are the poster who feels that he/she can work whenever simply because it is inconvenient to work the shift you had committed to, please don't assume that I hadn't talked to management about MY issues and try to point the finger and make accusations about MY motives.  This board is about the pros and the cons.  Unfortunately for me, my circumstance falls in the latter grouping and I shouldn't be lumped into a group of people flaming or bashing and told it is unfair for me to speak about my experience when I have tried all other internal avenues to no avail.  If my experience seems like flaming the company, there would be no flame if there was no ember to fan, so I should have that accusation pointed at me simply because I discuss it?? That is what's not fair, and since I did say I didn't want to argue, I'm not going to keep the discussion going with banter that gets heated or flamed to the point the whole string gets deleted.  Thanks for your input and have a nice day.

The type of job ad post made by this person is not condoned by MTStars.  Due to the unprofessional content of the job ad, the post has been removed, the posters email has been deleted, the post itself has been removed, and the posters IP has been banned.

I can't stress enough how degrading it is for any MTSO to post foul language in a job ad post along with making references that people should know what the **** they are doing.  Our industry has been demoralized enough without our own MTSOs posting in this manner.

AMEN!!! The OP is DEFINITELY a post made by someone in management at SPI!
No SPI employee would ever say those things about that crappy company! They treat MTs like second-class citizens and rip them off to no end! I also worked for Cymed for about 2 years before SPI bought them out. A few months after the buyout was announced, I got out of there as fast as I could. The original poster is obviously either management or just an employee who needs a good, HARD kick in the noggin!
Hey, QA, I made another mistake .. pull my post .. LOL
Pardon the html in my post, as I tried to enter smileys ... lol ... there was no way to proofread ~ and I didn't anyway, because it's time for me to get ready for work. I also said not being turned down ~ should have been no not .. LOL .. toodles ~ I'm outta here and not participating anymore. ;o)
Geesh..It's been a long day. I don't think I made any sense on that post.
Bottom line is, best pay rate out there, most of the time enough work and good benefits. They have a lot of happy employees.
The post was made on a Sunday night -- no one in the office really to ask then. sm
And it seemed a harmless question.   He/she wasn't really asking a policy question ... just a general question regarding when the payday is.  Most companies that I have worked for, if the payday is over a weekend, they pay on Friday.  Unfortunately, that is not the case here, but at least they are upfront about it, and it says so in the paperwork somewhere.
Tammy are you a QA editor? sm
If so, would you please email me?  I have a few questions.  Thanks so much.
What a hateful post. Hope your rant made you feel better. nm

Tammy Arizona - New at Webmedx
    Tammy,

As a former trainer at Webmedx (I retired) I must tell you that you are incorrect about typing in a web page. You are typing in Word, even though it may not appear that way.

As far as SHORTHAND, what exactly are you doing when it doesn't work? There are reasons for SH not working and there are very simple fixes built into the SH program. I was the SH instructor so, yes, I do know that it is not the program but rather something the MT does.

I own my own SH program and still use it daily, not just for transcribing. Try setting your Pause (under Preferences) to 20 msec after every 1 character and see if the helps you. You might also check to see what Text Transfer Method you are using, if you are using Clipboard Paste try switching to “keystrokes” although a little slower “pulling in” it is smoother and works every time.

Also, do you have physician normals in your SH program? By putting normals in you can definitely increase your line production.

Do you have regular phrases and all your medications in your SH? If you put in medications, did you also put in the dosing (where possible)?

I would hate to see anyone leave Webmedx. I understand ESLs are difficult - but after a while and with the use of the SH program one can go right along.

Further, if you are having problems getting your line count to 150 LPH (which I voted against but lost - I like 130-140 LPH) have you asked either trainer for help? The trainers are great and they are there long after you have finished your initial training to assist you in any way they can.

I hope you decide to stay!

PS: IMHO three weeks is not a fair trial/assessment - give it about 3 months at minimum.

Thank you, Tammy, for clearing things up for us. We are certainly
looking forward to your All American business taking off and becoming a great success.  It was a kind gesture that you took the time to explain your business plan.  Not many companies are that open.
This is totally off topic, but your post made me smile with the reference to Wang sm

word processors.  I remember when we got them at the hospital, I was all happy while some of the older ladies were balking at it, but the thing that sticks in my mind was a comedian at the time who did some kind of joke about, Who let some company call themselves Wang?

Anyway, it was funny at the time and this brought back a memory . I'm sorry for your situation.  I am 50 too, and although I do not live in a rural area, in fact just recently moved to the Denver area, I feel rather trapped.  I have done this since I was a junior in high school, and I really do not have any other marketable job skills.  When I see posts about wages being cut and work drying up, I panic inside and wonder what the future will hold for me.  Even if I had the money to go back to school, by the time I would graduate, I'd be an old lady anyway and probably not the best candidate for hire.

    Good luck to you.

I read your post. What do you want me to re-read?
and it seems those are your posts, too, so things just didn't add up and seemed inconsistent. If a place dropped me down to p.r.n. at 7 cpl or whatever and I already had another job where I could get 1000-1500 lines, I wouldn't give the first place a second thought so just couldn't figure out why anyone else would.
I think the COO, Tammy, tried to explain their connection on here a week or two ago...
She sounded very nice..something about taking over their overseas offshoring company's contracts etc..I honestly still do not understand what they are doing unless they got bought out. Why else would you supposedly phase out some of your business and start another, other than maybe they have gotten a bad rap while doing business as Synthescribe.  I'm just concerned about going forward because another MT commented how bad the CEO was, and she is the same one at AAmT, or whatever its initials are LOL
ETC Office Services. Tammy Coffman out of Ohio.
My friend said she sounded very good and supposedly had direct deposit. Well, she had no deposit and the lady said she would wire the money and apparently did not do that either. I dont like liars.
    DUH, read my post again

It has not happened to me, nope.  Also, I don't know of anyone that it has happened to.  We have a forum that we can post on and no one has said anything of the sort on it.  Why is that?  Why would you come on here and post instead of on our forum if there is a problem?  I have seen other issues brought up on the forum and have not ever seen them called emotional.

Also, if I was an MT that has been there for years and found that I wasn't getting paid what a newbie was with the same experience or less, and I knew I had been making my line count and been a good employee, I would say something.  I would demand a raise.  If I didn't get what I was worth, I would find a new job that would pay me what I was worth.  As a matter of fact, this is exactly what I did.  I have plenty of experience and was not getting paid well.  So, I asked for raise and was told they couldn't give me one.  So, I left and found a better paying job.  I didn't stick around to become a complainer.  I mean, who else is going to take care of you if you don't?  Whose responsibility is it to make sure you are getting paid well or treated well?

Did you even really read my post? sm

Gosh oh gee.  I said, nurses are making more money not less, like MTs.  That is ALL I said. How in the WORLD you got all that out of my short post I will never know but it is sure being blown out of proportion. I have the greatest respect for nurses.  Stop trying to put words in my mouth, please.

    Thanks, I did read Not Me's post....s/m

and I responded there too.....with a different name is all...

it takes great minds to think alike....and we cannot convince the entire world.....but we can make change in our own little groups in our families and friends and hopefully everyone will pass around the good stuff!  The love and compassion....

I think you need to re-read my post.

I think you need to re-read my post.  I said they were TRIVIAL.  I didn't say that I did not CARE.  I didn't say that I sent out terrible reports to make my work go to India.  How do you suppose when there is more than one way to do something you chose the right way depending on what person is checking work?

I have read your post and all the
others down the page and I agree with you completely. I left a company last year because the QA person just would not let anything I did alone when it came to punctuation. You are correct when you say that punctuation is a style issue and except in cases where it would change the meaning of a sentence, it should be left up to the MT to use as she thinks/knows is correct. I am now with a company who uses this policy. When I was on direct QA for a new account, my QA person did sometimes change punctuation, but this only reflected her own style preference. She made sure to tell me that this did not count against me and that my style was also correct. If I were you and they keep this up, I would look elsewhere to preserve my sanity.
No, not in QA (if you would read my post below)
the one that begins, no, no, what I meant was if your work is accurate and doesn't require much QA.  I don't know the percentage of accuracy; I don't remember, but it is a bonus for the MT's, not the QA people.  I have no idea if they get bonuses, nor do I care.
I don't think you read that in a post
Why would they mess up a good thing? I think you are mistaken.
    Read the post
Read the post on the main board, I think it was a couple days ago, labeled the downward spiral of the medical transcriptionist, again this proves everything written is true and happening on a daily basis.
I should have read your post first sm
because I said almost the same thing in mine.  Sorry!
    What post did you read?
She asked where the good dictators went, and the reply was that off-shore MTs were sent the good dictators.

What a way to punish the good dictators. Now they get crap back for no reason, unless some poor American is assigned to clean up the mess.
maybe you should read my post again...
I have 2 (two) IC jobs and they do me just fine--I mean $4000 take home fine. CHEERS!
I read your post and just for fun,
sent a mexican rice recipe to that address that you send the sample dictation. I got that same job offer e-mail afterwards. It's all automated, all a scam. I went on live chat and pointed this out, and they disconnected the chat after a short while. Oh well, I feel good knowing the time they wasted on me they weren't taking anyone's money (mine or someone else's).
Did you clearly read my post?
There IS another company involved even though you are told there isn't and i just found this out recently after working for FN for a few years
Well, since this is the first post I have read
including the archives with that information I am just going to continue to look forward to the position. If there is not enough work, I will go back to the recruiter and work with her. THey are hiring from what I understand because they are growing, not for turnaround, so I am not goign to assume there is no work. I will not worry, and I suggest that you do not worry until after there is no work, and after the supervisor cannot give answers. We should know pretty soon which is true. For me, I heard the place is a good one, and I have more reason to believe that at this time.
Read my post, it says- over 20
and no I am not that person you speak of- my pay is less than that - but with my speed it is possible to make OVER 20 an hour and I do not have to work full so my salary very satisfactory to me.
Read the OP's post on p.2. How can sm
you say they're not up to something?  What they are doing is farming out the work to this J & J transcription company and really who knows if there are other companies they send work to.
I had to read my post again to see
what I wrote as no one who posted a reply even addressed my query.

I sure didn't need any reinforcement as to how crummy this line of work is.
did you not read her post.? She said sm
we need people who are willing to do what it takes to get the work done when it needs to be done. this is what the profession is and always has been. Its just been the last 10 or so years that the real primadonnas the ones without years of experience coming out of these limited schools are demanding all these bankers hours, greater pay than warrants for their experience, etc. etc. It has run this business into the ground.

I am repeating myself for the umpteenth time, but those who have been doing this for years know what it takes to be in this business and it is willingness to work when needed. This is not and never will be a 9-5 job only, a day job only, etc. etc. If you can find a job like that I hope you do but you will get limited experience. The ones that are working all these shifts and willing to do what it takes are getting the experience and they will have jobs. Its not a hopeful situation for alot of us who are willing to work where and when the work is there.
    Read my post again
I realize you want to defend them and they may have many positives but in *my* case, I was specifically called back to fill a position, immediately finished and passed all tests. Then the *position* mysteriously vanished.

They didn't even seem to realize how this looked to me (the candidate)... which was suspicious at worst and careless at best
BEST post I have ever read on here!
I am SO tired of seeing the managers tell day people to just flex to evening and nights,... So those of us on nights end up working ALL f#cking night to try and get in our hours. I gave up and I work into the DAY now, so I have their work stolen from THEM before THEY start their day. The managers and their JUST FLEX EVERYBODY policy is retarded. It's chaos!!! Now we're ALL running out of work, all of us have had our salaries slashed due to ISR our health benefits have doubled in cost... It's just rediculous. While they have conferences to tell us how well THEY are doing and what companies/ schools they purchased, while the rest of us are broke an dout of our minds from lack of time AWAY from the computer/work. Evil.
I would re-read your OWN post
if you want to see what a childish tantrum reads like...

NONE of the posters said they wouldn't work weekends; they are objecting to an EVERY weekend requirement.
    Read my post ... SM
Again, for the millionth time: ALL OPINIONS ARE WELCOME ON THIS BOARD.

You WILL find opinions you do not agree with. If you see a particular poster, using the same moniker, that you do not share views with, be an adult and skip their posts. You will have to grow a thicker skin, be a little more proactive on what you read and don't, or simply just allow everyone to have their own perspectives.

You do NOT want me to moderate this board for niceness - trust me.

If you have a problem with a post, report it. I will review it to see if needs action. However, complaining on the board like this is not appropriate. Complaining about other posters' opinions will not necessary get you any where.

ALL OPINIONS ARE WELCOME. Having the few posting guidelines that we do, we strive to keep this as open for free expression as possible.

If you read my post, the explanation is all there!
    nm
If you bothered to read my post--
there were other problems as well. There were problems in all of their depts, not just QA. Let's just say that communication is not one of OSi's strong points. The company's overall attitude played a big part in my decision to leave. I also stated that there are some people who work there that are wonderful and I have no clue why they have not left yet.

I would like to know how you know what my attitude is? I am stating my experiences, you are the angry one. How would you "know" how I take my feedback, whether I blame people, etc, unless you are in the QA Dept? What's my opinion to you, anyway? What makes you such an "expert" of knowing people's attitudes over the years? So, what reason do you have for your panties in a twist? What's YOUR problem and why are you defending OSi so vigorously? You sure are taking this rather personally for someone who is not "involved".

I am not the only person who has had problems with OSi. Apparently there are a lot more out there after reading some of the other posts. We can't ALL be wrong about this company. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out if there is smoke, there is fire.
If you bothered to read my post
    I agree with you dear
WEll the bottom line is if you don't want to hear anything that is posted here, then don't read it. It's as simple as that. It appears some people are complaining and posting about people who are posting. I have to laugh at that. Bottom line also, people are not happy at OSi and talking to a supervisor there is like talking to a wall. People are upset because we have a QA Manager who doesn't know anything and is not qualified to do her job and Management does not care. I think their opinion is "oh well, so that one quit, we will just hire another one". Do not ever believe you cannot be repaced. Unfortunately, people looking for jobs and are turned off by OSI. If anyone ever asked me a question about OSI i would be perfectly honest and state my feelings and then refer them to this board. After all this is a "company forum" that's what it is here for. I personally am not one sugar-coat anything unless it's the truth. I have to agree that most of the posts here are right on target. And that's why I am soon to be out of here too.
Guess I should have read this post first, huh ;-)

Can you be more specific as to what you need to know about a C-phone?  I'll help if I can

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read the post threads - sm
throughout this board. they are a scam. DO NOT APPLY WITH THIS COMPANY. There have been articles in magazines and internet postings about this company. THEY ARE A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a new post on Sten-Tel....please read

I got one very good reedback on this company.  But the other posts were very strange indeed.  What in the world is a tranny company?  What is meant by own by different people and run differently?  So far, these are nothing more than insults to this company.  This does not explain who they are nor how they operate.  It doesn't even really say if they are a good or bad company to work for.  And besides, what is a tranny?????  Anyway, I just want to know if they are professional, what the pay is like, what the platform is like, etc etc etc......

I really would like more than just one response than the positive one I got, which by the way, was very reassuring.  Take care.

Re-read my post - that was my point! nm
    x
Did you read the post you replied to at all?
Because they can even manipulate their count program not to count certain letters, data tags, etc. Of course it will not jive with a word count in Word that will count it all and fairly. Make sense?
