is this for rent or a deposit sm
on tis equipment.  If this is a deposit I assume you get your money back if you leave?  If so what are they charging for month for rent?
Yes, they pay on time, direct deposit. sm
Minimum lines of 11,000 a pay period for benefits.

They are a great bunch of caring people -- best move I have in a long time.

Good luck!

pay has always been on time or early, no direct deposit as of yet though. sm
pay has been correct. as far as accts and ESLs, i was told about 25% on my acct but i would say it is more like 50/50. you can through the system view prior reports, etc. system is different than i have worked on, but wasn't hard to learn. one biggy for me is that it doesn't use autocorrect as it isn't word based and i had a lot added in autocorrect but ShortHand is compatible. i have been treated really well, very nice people to work for. only thing i don't really like is you are an IC but have to give a schedule since it is acute care. ins can be obtained though even though IC and not bad rates.
their website says they DO have direct deposit so pay is always on time

Pay on time, do have direct deposit, paid every 2 weeks.nm

No direct deposit but defintely paid on time....sm
I have worked for them for 6 months and they are by far the best company I have worked for.
Yep...received my deposit today. As always accurate and on time. nm
nm
IC only, direct deposit always on time, or early. Fast QA feedback. sm
Pay is based on 65-char line, spaces included. Caring and very available staff. Lots of work.
how is the company? do they pay direct deposit? do they have heavy ESLs? Do they pay on time?

??

paid by direct deposit on time, and you submit the bill nm
nm
pay on time direct deposit, work usually plentiful, recent management changes, email me if you want

to ask specific questions and I'll try to answer them.

I've been there for years, work on the DSG1 side of things, pay on time, direct deposit, more
feedback lately.  I have always found the staff and MTs helpful and friendly.  Work does fluctuate, but if you have a few accounts, should keep you busy, also sound quality can be an issue but mostly okay.
Good company, pay on time direct deposit, work usually plentiful, nice coworkers and management has
always been very nice to me.  Incentive for MT over production goals.
Pay on time, direct deposit, incentive bonus, nice management but at times workload can be a problem

requiring several accounts to stay busy.

Pay is always on time, direct deposit, very nice management to work with, and DQS platform, work
load normally busy, but low now because of the summer slow down on my accounts.  Sound an issue on some accounts, but not others.  Overall, wonderful company.
You can rent a C-phone from them. sm
I'm not sure about a computer rental. If your account is not on wav files, you'll have to pay long distance. There are a lot of flat rate plans through many companies.

You can't access the patient's old files through Bayscribe.

Pay is anywhere from 9 to 11 cpl.

Great place to work!
Not sure what's so low rent about being a hair
Meow.
I would bet the rent MDI will not offshore
They have waaaay too much integrity.
cynical, I would bet the rent
it gets cut effective 1 January 2010.
Maybe you could rent out a room or two instead of working
3 full time jobs leaves no time for sleep! If I were in that position, I'd look into renting out a bedroom. In an urban setting, you could always store your car and rent out the garage (if you have one).
You can rent the Lanier very cheaply
from MDI. (And you deduct this rental cost from your taxes as a business expense.)
In actuality, you ARE "betting the rent".
.
Actually I have only done a few ops prior to OSi
I had mostly done MS clinic. I have worked in acute care before, but did everything but an occasional op. I have to say that ops are my favorite by far now. I was terrified to do them, but now I love them! You're right. It is easier to be negative than positive, but at the end of the day, every company has good and bad things. It may take searching, but there is a company out there for everyone I think. In work, as in life, you have to kiss a lot of toads to find a prince.
Dependign where you are in the US, rent can be $1000 for a 2-bedroom apt or even a
more than that. The one thing that has always sort of amazed me is that because we work at home our salaries do not always equal our locations. For example, it is far easier to make a living at 9 cpl with an average of 1200 lines per day if you live in the country (as I do) rather than if I lived in a city. I do not own my home at present and pay $750 per month for a nice-sized 3 bedroom home, but my best friend lives out near a larger city and pays $1600 month for a house that is almost the same as mine. In the he real world, salaries are adjusted by locality, but because we work from home that little factor seems to have been eliminated. I know that I would never be able to survive on my pay if I lived in the northeastern part of the US.
Do you still have to rent their equipment from them or do they load program on
s
prior response
Sorry. That was addressed to OP and MsAnonnie Mouse.
Rent where I live is apx. $1200-1250/mo, 1-bdrm. (sm)
Where I live the average is about $1200/mo. for a 1-bedroom apt.

If I could get the lines/day, I'd be doing better. But I frequently get up in the morning, sit down to work, and there is nothing 'til maybe noon. Other days, there's plenty.

We're paid by the keystroke, so it's something like 1/10th of a cent, or something like that. Comes out to something like $6.50/hour if you're spending much time researching drugs, terms, etc. (Difficult but interesting and challenging accounts.) There are incentives, bennies, etc., but it's hard to even meet the minimum if the work ain't there when you need it.

In all other respects, this is a great company, and I'd hate to leave 'cuz I just started this summer. And they actually offer more than many others do. It's just that OVERALL, the MT field is not only not keeping up with the cost-of-living, it's declining. And everything else has gone up. A box of cereal is close to $5. Gas is $3.65/gal. Thank goodness I live in CA where I can get by without heating my home. (Also expensive). Oh well. I guess I should've stayed in college longer than just 2 years........
you need to really look back to prior postings
This company has been flying all over this board even back in March. I think it goes further than disgruntled employees. Take a look at how their lead people handle these comments. They have badmouthed these employees horribly. Yes, companies will have unhappy employees and there will be some grumbling, but it clearly looks like a much bigger problem with Shapin. A lot of drama for low pay. I would have nothing to do with them and NOT for the grumbling of past employees, but for the obnoxious and crude way Shapin's management individuals conducted themselves!
Work for SPi now, prior CyMed...
and EVERY company has issues, you just have to figure out what issues are deal-breakers for you personally. SPi HAS started switching QAs around to all different accounts, but not sure about the MTs; however, on the few times that these accounts have run short of work for the MTs on them, they've had them actually doing QA! That's ONE position, at least, that you can guarantee you'll move up to if you're competent and want the move.
Their benefits are better and less expensive than CyMeds were, and vacation time is actually a bit better.
There are no yearly or scheduled raises with SPi.
My advice is to ask LOTS of questions BEFORE accepting either job with either company; you should also get EVERYthing in writing, AGAIN, do this BEFORE you accept either position...especially as relate to compensation, benefits, and work hours. :D Best of luck whatever you choose!

They hire FT only. Need a second phone line. Might have to rent/lease equip. from them. nm

Plus my company is out work and I haven't made my rent yet, so am grouchy!

Spheris isn't the only company getting prior MQ work....sm
our company has also picked up several million dollars worth of business that MQ used to have because of the clients either having been overbilled by MQ or fears that they would be with all of the legal problems MQ is having.  Other current MQ clients are getting bids for when their contracts expire so I expect the MQ "tumble" to continue.
Apparently you missed the prior post.
AcuQuist based it's pay cut on an attempt to bring us in line with an average industry wage, part of their new mediocrity- not just for cheap wine policy. Therefore, being better, faster and more accurate, is not a desirable quality, and therefore we are being penalized for it.
I had knowledge of VR and pay rates prior to this job search.
When I was in school, all we focused on was straight typing and nothing was ever taught about VR - I graduated earlier this year. In my job search I'm really not seeing much about VR. The place I am now has four or five accounts and all of them are straight typing. As for the shortage of work, I am on the largest account in the company and the shortage is felt across the board. Even the supervisors are aplogizing to us for the shortage.

Oh well, for the meantime I will just see what is out there, test and interview if asked to and go on from there. For right now though I have a job at a place I like - it's better than nothing!
Insist on sample of prior reports, lots of them. Then when you see it, sm
you will say, Oh, so that is what he is saying.  Then, put it in your expander.  Phrases work the best for me, not normals.  Phrases in the Expander for what each item these guys use.  But you need to see lots of samples of prior reports.

I left a couple of months for the same thing. The prior

3 months I was lucky to get in 800 lines a day.  I had a couple of days where I got maybe 4 reports.  I would sit in front of my computer for 12 hours/day, checking every 5 minutes, and still couldn't get my lines with 3 different accounts.

They hire away ahead of time for new accounts and after training they have to do something with them until the account goes live so they put them on other accounts temporarily and then there isn't enough work for the regulars.

When I first started running out of work I watched the backlog report to see where an account might have a big backlog and there were 3 or 4 who were on OT most of the time, but when I asked to be put on one of those accounts I was told no.  There were many days that it looked like half the accounts had a 0 backlog.  Then they started hiring for 3-day weeks and 4-day weeks so there was no work on weekends to try to make up your lines/hours.

The lazyMT was from a prior post about testing..NOT about my personal habits. I find it odd that you
