It's longer than the "standard" 65-char. line so will take you longer to make those lines!
m
Umm..only if you think working longer to make same $ is a raise. Thanks for the offer.
?
doesn't even buy you a cup of coffee these days...don't bother.
nm
Is there any company that doesn't have high ESL now days? nm
.
Medware's IT dept. obviously doesn't work weekends. No lines count for 2 days. nm
not surprised
just because they do it, doesn't make it RIGHT!

Does make one wonder, doesn't it? nm

Doesn't make it right. sm
we used to conquer countries with guns, now it's creative corporate structuring.
Agree too low but where can an MT make more than $15/hr these days?
?
now that doesn't make sense
because why would they offer you an incentive to type more if they didn't want you to? I doubt they would rather you work less, but your scheduled is your minimum and any OT has to be approved, that's what it reads like.
That doesn't make any sense
you don't transcribe the files in Word, you do it right there on the mttest screen. Are you sure you are talking about the same thing?
Doesn't make sense sm
The ad was revised. When I first saw it, it said 18 cpl work at home, 3 year exp. Couldn't believe what I was reading, so I checked it again and it said 16 cpl, no experience and work at company. HUH?
It doesn't make sense
I can see them asking that you not try to get your own accounts, which could possibly be trying to get some of their accounts, but to ask that you not work for another MT service.  That is a little strange if you ask me.   It is your profession.  When I left a small MT service, I was only asked not to go after any of their accounts in their competition clause.
Doesn't make sense
if the MT is willing to accept the rates.

I am an IC in California. Applied for a job that was employee status that needed my particular experience. No reply! And they're still posting!!

You may have the answer but it still doesn't make sense.

Decided anyway that I like the flexibility of IC anyway so found a great company.
Reading it here doesn't make it so.
It is still the largest MTSO in the world and by a significant degree, too.

They've been offshoring work for quite a while and have not hidden that fact from anyone.

Obviously, many are happy there or they wouldn't stay.

It's not for everyone. Then again, the same can be said about all companies.

This doesn't make any sense
I don't work for SoftScript, but if you're going to have somebody posting a question and getting negative responses, it seems only fair that they would want to defend their company--I know I would. Also, why is it the majority of the people posting all of these negative comments never even made it into the door and actually worked for them? I believe the poster wanted to hear from people who actually work(ed) there. You had a bad recruiting experience, not a bad work experience.

This isn't to bash anybody. I'm just trying to figure out where all of the CURRENT SoftScript employees are to respond to this post, including people who were actually employed there long enough to let all of the job hunters know how the work load is, etc.
7 cpl doesn't make sense.
I got offered 8.5 cpl on acute care last year with only 3 years experience. I can't understand why they would be offering 7 cpl unless it is for an easy account (i.e. low ESL, thus able to get more done in shorter period of time). Don't forget to factor in benefits (cheaper than most), 10 days of PTO (after the first year), and the incentive bonuses that start at just 5501 lines per week (don't know of many who offer bonuses at that little of lines). If you work full time, they ask for 5500 lines a week, so get 1 extra line a week, and you are already making your base rate plus an extra 0.0025 cpl. That adds up quick.
That doesn't even make sense. nm

They don't expect U to make lines during first 90 days
Hang in there, it will get better, it takes time.
Thanks -- that does help! That is great ... some make you wait 90 days. nm

Offshore doesn't make any more sense than
The work is being outsourced offshore or is referring to offshore outsourcing.  If you're going to be picky about the term, at least be picky about the correct terms.
That statement doesn't make any sense at all

I hope DSG doesn't make the change

This whole thing doesn't make sense.

It seems someone is confused or doesn't know what they are talking about.  If you have to make $900 to be considered full time, how much is that a line?  Are the hours flexible or do you have set schedules?  Are you required to work a 40-hour week or is it completely by lines?

Not so easy when you make top pay and work days and hours of

Amphion doesn't make you work weekends
or nights.  They're a great company, and I hear they're hiring.
and offering a bonus. Doesn't make sense that there
isn't work for current MTs.   Unfortunately there are lots of companies that overhire.
Doesn't seem a valid point to me. Most people can make 250 lph sm

so why not do it making 8-9 cpl (or more) and make $24-27 per hour?  I don't think $15/hour is much nowadays, but that is just my opinion.  I made that 10 years ago in an office setting -- hate to think of going backwards, although I do reailze that is the trend in transcription nowadays, sad to say.

I just hope he/she (and everyone) finds something that pays more than that, especially for IC work.

I know.. she's pretty ridiculous and doesn't make much sense
You don't want to steal their expansion program, right? You just want the expansions that YOU thought up and that YOU put in. Not a problem in my eyes. Just figure out where the file is, copy it on to a disk or a little flash drive or something.
You're right...that post doesn't make any sense...sm
How could high producers mess things up for the rest of us, when, in the past few weeks, we were offered incentives on most of the accounts to keep them in TAT by working extra??  And how could a responsible member of management even state something to that effect?  The only logical conclusion is that this particular poster wants to discourage high production (on his-/her OWN accord) in other MTs to keep the pickings greener for him-/herself.
your post doesn't make much sense. Find another job then? That's what the rest of us do!

A typo does not make it unprofessional. Perfect doesn't exist.

We all do our best, but typos will happen from time to time.   Won't matter tomorrow and certainly won't matter next year.

This doesn't make sense to me either. Scan is advertising for MTs but there is no work?
What's up with company who constantly overhire when they can't even keep their current employees happy. I certainly won't be applying there.
Beware of really good marketers. They spin. The marketer doesn't make your schedule. nm

That is what I just said. !0 days PTO, period. That includes vacation, sick days and personal days
They should have paid holidays so that you are paid if you take off. Also should inculde extra hours for sick days and personal days.

That annual raise of .002 is kind of a joke especially when at the same time they upped the minimum line requirement from 10,000 lines to 12,000 lines.

OSi just does not have the qualified people in management positions that I wish to work for.

I am glad that you are happy at OSi and all is working out for you. Their dishonesty and the way they treat people just does not work for me.

Of course they can get by cheaply by hiring unqualified people so that is very good for the owners.
what's not to believe - I said that I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days AND DO NOT MAKE - sm
I DO NOT MAKE $100,000/YEAR

try READING the post.
You bill 30 days behind, and they snail mail it so it's late - about 40 days from invoice
No way jose - they even messed up their direct deposit payments
Maybe she/he works 14 hour days/7 days a week? nm
x
Doesn't apply if your OSI account doesn't use Ichart.
It is the Ichart only for OSi where you are cheated.
Would that be 5 business days or 5 regular days?
So when are we going to be paid this time around since you're so knowledgable?

Sorry, but for some of us a day or 2 actually makes a difference.
Most want 20 hours over 5 days, but it could be more, or it could be spread over 4 days. nm

It is true. Any job has its good days and bad days.
Perhaps you'd like to just keep your old job and try this one out. Just because a poster here is crabbing about it, or even if as in the past there have been negative posts, odds are that there are very happy people who don't even post or know that this board exists. As Alice says. Everything is relative. The fact that this company is hiring and pays may be a place which is a blessing. As opposed to digging ditches on day labor for example. Or somebody might prefer digging ditches. This is just an example. Sometimes we who are employable, even though we don't make as much as we used to in this business, or as much as we would like to, we still if working at home do not pay for gas to go to work, career clothes, deal with office politics, have to look at a boss who writes us up if we are a minute late, etcetera. I don't make half as much as I used to, but I don't send my 3 children to day care which by the way saves us money. SO I remind my husband I am worth that in addition to my salary if I had a job outside. No job is perfect. I am not even sure if Focus is any good or not, I have not worked there. But if one poster says there are good days and bad, I say that is the most honest answer you are going to get anywhere, and if you need a job badly, how is it to hurt trying it out, until you know for sure for yourself? THanks for listening. But sometimes this board gets to be a bit much with the agendas of people railing on other people like the OP here who just wanted all opinions instead of just one side. Balance is always great. And, if things seem lop-sided, then it is a good thing to seek out both sides. IMHO.
I think they would. Those are good days for 10-hour days. sm
I have a set schedule but it is Tues-Sat and it works well for me. It wouldn't hurt to ask!
90 days is correct. 3 days off 1st year, 10 during 2nd.

TT doesn't pay for spaces or ExText doesn't

It's been longer than that for me.
I tend to get stuck with a lot of terrible dictations most of the time, which I don't understand either, but maybe that has something to do with why I can't get a decent line count.  Every time I get on the system to work, there's always some horrible dictation skipped from earlier in the day just waiting for me.  Just got done with a dictation that was 9 minutes long, but took me over 30 minutes to type due to being inaudible in spots and just basically a horrible dictation overall.  I didn't even get 100 lines out of it either!!
no longer there but.
Had trouble getting paid on time.
Not for much longer.
I knew going in they were not paying for headers and footers, but did not realize they were going to take the percentage off the total line count. The headers/footers only account for about 5 to 10 lines per report, so they have quite a little scam going.
Whatever, they are no longer there anyway. nm
