Noncompliant MTSO
I have started working for an MTSO on the side.  The MTSO has told me that there would be no full-time, mainly just overflow work.  I told her that was fine, but no more than 30 minutes on the days when I can work.  Well this MTSO does not listen.  I repeatly get more than 30 minutes to complete and now have over 60 minutes in my files to download and do before tomorrow.  What do you do with a noncompliant MTSO who will not listen to what the agreement was.  I have told her before only 30 minutes, but she won't listen.  Also, if you cannot complete the work, she says the work must be done regardless and if you receive it you must do it.  HELP!!!!!
'me' in the Softscript thread below sums it up pretty well.

Such a good post!! Sums it up quite well!
I absolutely love this business and my job - Right now.  Of course this is subject to change without a minutes notice.  I have learned that.  I have been right there with the rest of you though.  This business is not what it used to be and I have considered getting out too.  I have compared it to other professions.  If you were, say an insurance salesman, etc., etc.  You have to be educated and experienced in your field, certified and pay all kinds of state fees, get CE credits, and will still lose clients all the time.  That is the business you are in.  That is what the MT business has become.  Even if you love your company, clients are going to move all the time.  When I was finally let go after 10 years due to lack of work and offshoring, I checked into working outside the home in a local office M-F, 9-5, no weekends, or holidays with secure work.  At this point there are not many of those either, so I kept looking in the MT business and found that PERFECT job!!!  Specialty I love - 9-5 M-F, no nights, weekends, or holidays.  I am blessed for now but I do realize that if I stay in this business this too ABSOLUTELY WILL COME TO AN END.  They all do.  Then I will be on the job hunt again.  I just hope I can keep this up until I retire which is not too far off.  It is easier than walking into an office applying for a job at my age with all the younger competition.  If you hate your job - at least look for something else.  I have said it before and I believe this - Serious and dedicated MTs would be much happier in a smaller U.S. Company.  They post on here and other sites all the time.  They state U.S. only on their job posts and on their web sites.  Their pay is better and there is steady work, except around holidays.  They do not over-hire.  They do not offshore.  Even though they lose clients too, I think I will stick with them.
Your own post verifies other post about MTSO not

Just read through some of the post and you can pretty much see. Quite a few actually. nm

pretty sure this post is in the wrong spot.
nm
the MTSO has a right to post here.

I love the fact that we can post on this forum confidentially.  Although we may not think it is professional for an MTSO to come and express their feelings…they are entitled to it.  Sometimes people just need to vent whether we agree with it or not.  Maybe they have no one else to talk to.  I would never bash any company that I have ever worked for other than the *lack of work*.  I have worked for very professional companies.  I guess I have been lucky.  My bosses have been very vocal.  If I make an error I get feedback right away.  I am an MT and I am very proud of who I work for, as I know if they have a problem with me or my work they would come straight to me about it.

Maybe that is what this MTSO should do.  It has to be difficult having someone bash their company.  You just need to take the posts lightly.  People are going to say things no matter what.  You just never know who is posting what, which is the benefit and crappy thing about an anonymous board.

You have people who love to  and people who love to .  Only way for anyone to truly know anything about a company is to try em out for themselves.

THIS IS A POST OF AN MTSO...s/m
an MT would never write this.

I have heard that clients pay up to 18cpl.
When and how did they reduce their pay????
nice editorial, sums it up
Thanks Mary. That was very well put. I have to say I admire you for the way you have stood up and made yourself heard. :)
I agree.. Can you say "getting the runaround".. Yep. that sums it up.
If never want a straight answer on ANYTHING, then go for it. Best wishes.
OOPS! SOrry, that post above should say from MTSO not MTSO2! :) nm

Great post! Keeps us all grounded on what the MTSo has to put up with.

As an MT, IC for years, I have never had to rely on anyone but myself and am grateful for that.  There will always be a place for me in this field as an IC, as I stick to commitment.  Keeping my word is important to me.

I have thought about venturing out and hiring a few MT's to help when my workload gets busy, but after trying it once realized I do not have the patience.  Thank goodness for the MTSO who has the patience.

Good luck with your new hires.

As I *said* in my post body, it IS awful that at MTSO cm
would not pay. I agreed with you on that. If you want me to grow some guts, as you say, sorry. Throwing the term demonic around when forewarning someone is just a little unnerving. Perhaps I was just not ready to envision demons and evil first thing in the morning. LOL

As I said before, I do agree with you that this person should definitely be held accountable for her actions. It is sad that our profession has come to this. I hope your friend gets her money back 100 times over and that this MTSO is put out of business as soon as possible.
So obvious "Not KS". Why would another MTSO post

in a thread about another MTSO?  So full of BS.  We're not stupid; just underpaid.

I learned a lot about MTSO from her post..not a job for me every..I'm definitley a worker bee.

From above post. Oops, meant my MTSO support

It's posted right on their website under Tech. Requiremts. Not the first MTSO I've seen post t

Midwest
I am originally from the midwest, headed back after 20+ years in Florida. Bought a house 1 year ago and recently sold it for more than double what I paid for it. The housing prices just keep going up, especially in the populated areas, i.e, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm Beach.
Midwest.

Midwest MT is right
Definitely try a local doctor's office or local MTSO. I work as an employee for nephrologists and I don't have to type a minimum number of lines. I type whatever work I have for any given day and when I'm done, I'm done.
midwest here....
and only 3 reports today! Nothing on my accounts at all. This is insane. I have applied to a few other places. I can understand it getting low, but I have to pay bills somehow and this isn't going to work.
Mediscript in Midwest
Any information, good or bad on this company?
I got the same call - F from midwest here.
I just don't understand why they are so concerned that we received that flipping letter, despite the fact that it doesn't really say anything.

They also have a pdf of it on Qnet somewhere. I have messed around with the "rewards" section on Qnet and that HEAT thing seems to be some kind of outsourced help desk. Wonder what that's all about?
Re: Midwest housing
Well, it definitely takes two incomes to live in the Bay Area, unless one person makes $100,000 or more. I think we pay for the weather (voted best in the country, believe it or not) and the ambiance (sp ?). I always say if your family is close-knit, then live near your family if you can, as we do. My husband and I have talked about relocating to Florida and other states, but we would rather deal with earthquakes than hurricanes, tornadoes, and/or snow storms. We'll probably cry a different tune when the next big quake hits!!
Midwest where? Not Michigan, I can tell you that.

new Michigan MTSO ... and I'm just going to have to be moving on ASAP.  This particular accent is just about as bad, if not worse, than Eastern European for me.  And this is just way too high a percentage for me to deal with.

Danged if I know where you can go to find fewer, but I'm going to be asking about that pointblank from now on, however negatively doing so will impact my job opportunities.  I mean more than 25-30% ESLs is just beyond ridiculous, IMO. More power to those of you who can and will do more than that.  I'm sure you deserve a lot more than whatever you're being paid.

Midwest Transcription
Anybody have info on Midwest Transcription in  Wisconsin?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!
I am in the Midwest. Which hospital system is this? nm

Midwest Transcription Services
Does anyone know anything about this company, good to work for, steady work, pay on time, etc?
Anybody else on new TT account (midwest area)
I received some instruction sheets on the new account, but it's only the second acct I've done, and the demographic instructions are much different and I haven't gotten any feedback yet on all the things I'm probably doing wrong. Have e-mailed and no answers yet. Anybody on this acct and have time to answer questions by e-mail? Am I the only clueless one?
Midwest Transcription Services
Does anyone know anything about Midwest Transcription Services?  I think it is located in Wisconsin.  Thanks.
midwest transcription services....
does anyone know how they count their lines?
Still in honeymoon phase, midwest. You might not
have been at this for a much, much longer time and will be able to help you once you do hit snags in the road. And you will. It is NOT being negative, it's being honest. I do not believe in portraying being an MTSO as the answer to all problems, either, because it's not for everyone. I worked long, LONG days as an MTSO with several clients and couldn't keep subcontractors despite paying well and pretty easy clinic work. I was stressed to the max and had zero time for myself or my family. Negative, you bet! At least it grew to be negative FOR ME, which is why I don't do it anymore. If it works for you, fantastic, but don't act like just because it doesn't work for others that makes them wrong somehow. This is about sharing experiences and everyone has a different one.

I found a great MTSO to work for now, I'm treated well and make as much as I did as an MTSO once I subtract all the free hours I worked, supplies bought, gas spent on errands, etc., etc. I'm a much happier person as a result, plus I actually get to be with my family-and without guilt that I should really be working! Like I and others have stated, it's not all goodness and light.

Not all MTSOs are terrible to work for and not all MTs are cut out to be MTSOs, and that's a fact.
Midwest Medical Transcription Services
I don't know if this is going to post in the correct spot, I have never tried to post anything before.  Does anyone have any information on Midwest Medical Transcription Services LLC in  Wisconsin?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!
I work at home and I live in the Midwest.
You have to consider the job market and cost of living in your area of the country.  I think I'm doing pretty darn good.  If I factor in the incentive pay, I'm making around $35 per hour.
Midwest Transcription? Anyone know of this company. Cannot access archives. TIA. nm
nm
to long time MT - the cost of living is about the same as the midwest - sm
you can have rent ranging anywhere from $500-900/month depending on where you live and what you want. It's not expensive like NY or DC or VA. The line rate is ABOVE - A-B-O-V-E 8.5/line and the docs are fairly easy with the exception of a few marblemouths, but I think every hospital has to have a few marblemouths, or it just wouldn't be right. If you are seriously thinking of it and would like to send us a resume, let us know your email and we will contact you!

We posted this because we wanted to know our options - rather than to have an outside service take the overflow.
I'm a midwest MT too (Kansas) ... but my gourd painting skills are definitely lacking too. :( n

when docs give mtso a check, then mtso pays you?
nm
Isn't she an MTSO owner - which MTSO ? Just curious. n/mnn

My post should say the post above not the post below, Sheryl's post to be specific. nm

Must be pretty far SM
I've worked for them for 2 years and never a problem.
Pretty Bad
I have no interest in working for Keystrokes, but had to check out their new and improved benefit package. It is pretty bad unless you are unlucky enough to have a couple of deaths in the family.
You could say that about pretty much every co.
You know what they say about opinions...I have seen just about every major national company being asked about on these boards at one time or another and there are always people who will have negative things to say about them.  On the other hand, there are always people who will say positive things as well.  The only thing you can do is educate yourself about each company by going to their website and contacting the company directly to get answers.  Otherwise, it's all a lot of hearsay. JMO
I appreciate that!! I am pretty used to getting
flamed for not-so-positive comments so you are a breath of fresh air!! I hope they work out for you, I really do. I was one who loved Spheris until, well, I guess I should not say, but I hated MQ, so I guess we have both BTDT. Good luck to you, too:) I really think I have found mine with this company that just hired me. Sure hope so:)
That's pretty bad...
most editors I know make way more than that.
Most of them do, I am pretty sure.
nm
They pretty much
change things to suit themselves....  not the mt
Pretty sure they do, I have seen their
banner across a board....
Pretty much par for this course, it seems. nm
