I tried Vonage a while back, but I didn't think it worked very well at all and got rid of it.

They didn't charge me for sending it back
I thought they were pretty nice about it and my final check was deposited as usual.  They are ethical people.  But the demographics will kill you.
She didn't say she expected to be thanked back
She just said they didn't respond. I think Miss Manners would say that the proper response to thank you would be you're welcome.
Back in the days of YOG FN didn't have a good
name either.  Your post shows just how unprofessional FN is and surely does not entice anyone to apply with your company.  Even if what the person posted is not true, you could have chosen to take the high road, but instead you took the low road.
I didn't work there way back in 2005, so
I can't comment on your personal experience, but for me in 2008:

1. If you run out of work, you are paid downtime. You can do backup acounts also. Not sure about the written consent but there are a lot of us who work on other accounts.

2. Sample reports: The program allows you to bring up previously typed reports by experienced MTs by doctor, patient, report type, etc., so the MT has endless samples.

3. Supervisor currently, from what I can tell anyhow, has a lot of contact with hosital including informing them of problem dictators and other issues that directly impact the MT's production, etc.

4. I think they changed the insurance to cover out-of-area employees, but don't quote me on that.

Personally I've had a very good experience with the FL account. Nothing is perfect, but I'm very satisfied.
Don't sweat it. Be glad you didn't hear back.
x
I was feeling bad that they didn't get back to me with my 35+ years of experience, sm

but if that is the pittance they offer for pay, I'm glad they saved me the trouble of turning them down.  Pretty soon, scrubbing toilets will pay more.

Guess I didn't. Heard back within a day of taking the test, sm
but that was several years ago.  Depends on current recruiters, I guess.
Are you talking about the one with the 2 radiology jobs? I didn't hear back either...nm
x
Oops, sorry - I changed my name back three or four times but it didn't "take" nm
.
Evidently not
We only have our editors on ONE account.
just reread the email about pay

that cut is for editing, not lines typed.  your lines typed rate will stay the same.  your editing rate will be based on 60% of your cents per line rate plus whatever incentives you get, if you do.  But you are able to edit faster than type, especially after getting used to doing it.  you are not typing the whole report, which means you can do more.  I type on the new platform and I absolutely love it.  I see others on the forum stating that they love it too.  I feel that it is extremely user friendly.  IMO the platform is the best I have worked on.  I don't have a hard time getting my lines in at all.  There are times that I do have to work hours other than my shift to be able to do that, but I dont mind that as I am flexible.  The incentive program is the best I have ever had also.  I have been cross trained on 3 accounts, my third just yesterday.  I was told I could have as many accounts as I want.

I guess everybody has their own experiences at each company, some good, some bad.  Mine is good.

I tried to look up MDI-MD in archives and evidently
you can't put initials in because it brought up nothing. But I was in a discussion last week about MDI-MD and I know they are IC. I thought there was also a post that said how much you get paid during training but I can't find it. If any MDI-MDers could answer this I would appreciate it. Is there a set amount they pay for training? Couldn't find it on website either. Thanks.
It is evidently a no-no big time...

I asked if they were still in business a couple of weeks ago and was told to stop trying to stir things up. I just wanted to know. My personal belief is that they have asked for anything about them to be deleted.

Evidently some accounts are better than others (sm)
and the new hires obviously get the ones that are not as conducive to a good paycheck as they have been proven to not be as good and others have moved off them. The account I was on MDI had supposedly had for several years yet it was way behind and understaffed. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out.
Sorry, just reread and saw you already work
for MQ.
Me, too!! I reread that post and realized
the poster was talking about editing so that was my bad. That would have been good money though:)
Maybe you should reread the original post. sm
OP thinks no response required when you apply for a job.
Evidently you don't take constructive criticism well. sm
Doing emotional, impulsive, unprofessional things in business will always make you lose. To top it off, you've done these things and used your name on the boards. I'm amazed you would think this company should let you use their email to spread negativity about the company. All combined, you're not too bright, are you?
I got it and missed that part. Just reread it and called
my lead. She told me that I can purchase my c-phone for $250 or purchase one somewhere else. I have one that I got on E-Bay for $50 a while back, so I will use that. I also have a Lanier VoiceWriter in a closet somewhere that I had for another job.

Sorry for the misinformation.
I never see any postings about Accuscribe of SC. They evidently don't advertise (sm)
for help much, that could be a good thing.

Any info?
reread original post pleeeze!! She did not
say she was an employee.  Really people....we need to be careful when we spew this crap!
Reread, I do not use the Ctrl B function, so cannot answer. Sorry!

Intensity to learn? Reread her post. She says that she is too tired from her FT job and that she h
had time to read their style guide. You should give your all to any job, but it seems as if she does not care because it is not her FT job. I agree with the other poster in that she gives PT employees a bad name.
hope so! they're hiring like crazy now, editors & MTs evidently ~nm

Evidently things haven't changed since I left. Sounds like they've gotten worse - LOL
nm
I worked in QA for Transcending back in 2000-2001. They were paying hourly back then. SM

The accounts weren't too horribly bad.  The reason I ended up leaving was because slowly but surely they began to inch closer and closer to paying QA by production.  When I first started, the quota was something like 30 reports a day.   We simply had to make sure that we QA'd all reports that were close to being out of TAT first and then do the rest.  Then, my supervisor left and they hired a new one who immediately called a big teleconference meeting and said we had to up production to 60 reports a day.  Then, they started counting lines.  Which was fine because they were still paying hourly.

Next, there was an MT who used VR software because she was blind - yes blind.  Again, when I first started, I was told we had to edit her entire reports because she used the VR software and we had to make sure that everything was correct and made sense.  Then, we are told only check the blanks.  I wasn't comfortable with that and I continued to completely proof every word.  Then I was called on the carpet not because I wasn't meeting the production quota, but because I was ONLY meeting the production quota.  I told them I was proofing all of the MT's work that used VR, I was told that no one ever told me to proof every word of the VR reports and that I needed to fill in blanks and move on.  When I voiced my concerns, I was told that was my job, to fill in blanks and I should move on and strive to product above the standards.  Next thing you know, rumors abounded about changing the QA staff to being paid on production.  So I left.

There just seemed to me to be too little concern for quality and more emphasis on quantity and I just didn't want to be part of company who would take money out of my pocket just to line their own and that's what they were doing by putting QA on production.  I also am not comfortable with the job of QA being thought of as a blank filler.  There is much more to the QA profession than just simply filling in blanks.

I don't know if Transcend ever did start paying QA by production, but I could see that the idea was being floated there.  Maybe there was a enough protest that they didn't change from hourly.

Good luck to you!

Phoenix Medcom- Another apply a few months back, ask to take a test and never heard back??
I applied a month or two ago, received an email from someone asking if I would take a test and said she was getting ready to go on vacation for a week, so I hurried and immediately and told her I'd love to take the test. I never heard back. I waiting thinking she went on vacation and would contact me when she got back to do the test but nothing...very strange..Just wondered if this happened to anyone else.
Has everyone heard back from Keystrokes yet regarding the email we received a while back?
Just wandering why I haven't heard any response yet.
I sent them an email back in August and never heard back sm
Is this company on Long Island? I checked out their website and even tried calling once. Were you successful in contacting them? All i know is that the company is owned by some doctors.

Hopefully, you will hear back. Unfortunately, I immediately heard back from MD-IT
but somehow with over 16 years of experience, I blew the test.  I was soooo disappoionted and yet pretty stunned.  I am by no means perfect but I haven't flunked a test in years.  I expected it in my early years but not this far down the road. I was so confident and they will not tell you which part you did not pass and why so it really just blew my mind.  I must have been in shock for like two hours after I got the email. Oh well, someone will want me....hopefully.  I was thinking about OSi but I don't think I could take another rejection if I never heard back.
I didn't say I didn't care, I just don't understand
why the sudden outrage over HL offshoring.
I had the same thing happen, went back to MQ, went back to KS and could not be sm

happier.  I am on a different account then the first time and it is as if it is a different company.  I have a great lead who leaves us alone most of the time but is there when I need her.  It showed me that you can have a different experience within the same company.

I have to say that in the few weeks since they have the new office, it is much more organized probably because there are a lot of people there all the time.  I had the pleasure of speaking to the new HR manager who was HR at a hospital, got my questions answered about insurance as I am going to full time and had a live voice pick up the phone.

Not all change is bad.  This is one company that has changed for the better.

I was reading about the back up help. I would like also to have some back up work.
I am not getting anywhere near 12,000 lines this go around.  My goal is 12,000 lines each pay period.
She didn't say they didn't offshore at all s/m
What she did say is that if the work needs to be done here, it stays here (paraphrased a bit, I think).

That is not lying and saying that they don't offshore work, as was stated by another poster above, but saying that if the client wants the work to stay in the US, they will keep it here. Sheesh.
Back away from the hoops!! Back away!
I worked for them about 6 months - same mess to get hired - FBI check is right! It was unreal. I was so excited, though - they promised me the moon, and I really thought I had found my new home after centuries with that other company who shall not be named.  What a disappointment, to say the least. All around horrible experience, and I would NEVER recommend them. Certainly they were not worth the hoops at all. Total waste of effort.
She didn't say she didn't have a family. A family isn't just kids. sm

She also said she didn't have kids. Why do you think you're so much better  BECAUSE you have kids?  I am so sick of that attitude.  I don't have kids, never wanted them, but have been discriminated against in jobs because of it.  Everyone figured since I had no kids I could work all the time.  I said NO!  Just because I don't have kids doesn't mean I don't have a life or that my life is not important.

BTW I work part time too.

Thanks! Not sure why I didn't think of that
but that is what I will do from now on!
Thank you - I didn't know. :) nm
x
Are you sure she didn't say she has been
a recruiter for years (not necessarily with Keystrokes)?  Because I was hired at another company a number of years ago and she was the recruiter, maybe there was a misunderstanding?
I did all that and it still didn't come up....oh well
I think there is just trouble with imail. This happened to me the day before yesterday too. To get to the MQ board click on forums (left blue menu) then click on company forum, (you obviously did that) but then look to the blue menu on the left and now Medquist appears under company board and before offshore board. See ya there.
What $125? I didn't see anything like that.
And there's a charge if we return the computer before three months? I heard they were the absolute best company out there. I simply can't make a decent line count. I sent out three resumes on fulltime local nonMT jobs yesterday because I haven't been able to earn a decent steady income doing MT for a year now. I'm not going bankrupt over this. I don't see why it has to be this difficult. I'd be totally loyal, stay with a company, and move into a more responsible position if I could find the right company.
I didn't know that.

So those who are moseying along, getting in their 11,000 whenever, are making as much as the ones who work really hard to get their line counts into the incentive range?

I wonder if there are any other companies out there that reward mediocrity?  If so, maybe it's time to lower my own personal standards to fit in with the new trend.

you didn't
Boy that was quick! Like I said, it was my oversight and I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions. You didn't deserve it.
I didn't get it either.
x
I didn't think that was possible
NONE - no cable, no DSL? How can that be in this day and age. I only have 2 choices here - Comcast or Verizon DSL. Verizon is out for me and it is a drag when Comcast has outages all the time.

I do work on an a/c where I've worked using dial-up with Comcast down - uses Quadris with VPN server. Worked just fine on dial-up. No problem getting into VPN at all, and able to type & save reports quite well.

Another a/c - uses IDX with no VPN - didn't work w/o high speed.

Definitely can't use dialup tho for any voice files. Only for a/c's with phone dictation.

As to foot pedals - try eBay. Plenty of other sites where people are selling equipment.
If you didn't know before - know it now

They didn't used to, but they are going to now
they are starting up a pilot program offshoring a certain number of jobs per day to test the waters in what is pivotal to the industry. Yada yada yada. So they didn't before, but they will be soon. It'll come back to bite them in the you-know-what. A bigger threat to borderline MTs is VR.
When I was there they didn't pay for that
downtime, either.
AND I didn't say she should be, I said

that everywhere ELSE I go they are falling all over themselves.  If you had the experience I have, you'd know what I mean.  And since I never talked to her other than to say You emailed me and told me to call you... and she said she'd call me RIGHT BACK, and those were the only words I ever spoke to her, I don't see where any attitude would come in.

I do know that any company/any hospital would be GLAD to have me work for them.  I have received nothing but praise for my work.  I have worked long and hard to gain the experience I have and it has paid off.  I have had my own hospital accounts for years.  I've never had to beg for a job; they are offered to me quite readily.  Sorry if that bothers you.

Please tell me that you didn't (sm)
use this as an excuse not to pay them. This would certainly be reason enough to get rid of them, but I don't understand why you would not set their pay straight.
