I accepted an IC position at a very low rate due to my family demands.  I wanted to give my current employer 2 weeks notice and honor that commitment.  I emailed my new IC position recruiter and I got an angry email in return.  This recruiter told me, no thanks, if you cannot start on Monday, we do not need you.  I frantically called the recruiter back and stated that I just wanted to honor my 2-week resignation because I did not want to burn any bridges that I may have to come back to.  Over the phone, he told me, when employees start trying to dictate to their employers, it is better to let them go.  First of all, I am not an employee and second of all, I never gave him a start date, and thirdly, I think it is honorable to give your past employer time to replace the position.

I am getting second thoughts, I think I should run from this new position.

Your thoughts.
