So are you saying that split shifts are not allowed any longer?
nm
Precyse - do they allow split shifts and what are the shifts? (sm)

I see they are hiring for 2nd and 3rd shifts.  I know a friend of mine works for a company where as long as over half your shift is in that time frame it is acceptable.

It says they are hiring for new accounts, might be a good time to make a change.

Yes, they do allow split shifts,
like the poster below stated, it would still be specific time frame.
Split shifts Precyse
I work for Precyse and I believe that they do allow a split shift on some accounts. I would definitely call the recruiter and ask about it.
split shifts at Diskriter
Before I crossed over to the QA side, I used to split my shift at Diskriter. They have great insurance, but I'm not sure what would be considered affordable.
DIT and Proveros allow split shifts
However, I think Proveros was just bought out by Superior Global or merged with them. It won't hurt to check them out.
Yes, they do allow split shifts and they're very nice to work for

That's going to be nuts...I do ASR work too, plus work split shifts. We'll NEED a spread shee

You're allowed your opinion and I am allowed to

E-Dictate...sm
Anyone have info regarding this company?
ALL those who dictate
should be informed that their transcription will only be as good as their dictation! I'm also tired of listening to dictators who sound as if they're speaking underwater or with their mouth stuffed with cotton!

I just leave more blanks now than I did as I'm just tired of having to spend time trying to figure out their mumblings.
I do some NPs who dictate for doctors
Just seem to have a little trouble pronouncing some words..It's kinda funny, but I always know what they are trying to say.
Not trying to dictate what is posted..
This is a forum where people come to get answers and share information. Most people know that there are archives...no need to post that to every question.

You tell the OP to do their research...that is exactly what they are doing by posting a question here. If you can't answer the question that the person has asked (other than with a snide remark), why post at all?
As an IC, an MTSO cannot dictate your
hours or production. However, if you signed a contract for a specific amount of lines, they can hold you to that. However, legally they cannot hold you to specific hours UNLESS you tell them specific times you will be working.

An IC means the freedom to set your hours. Where I work, I let them know when I can work and how much work I can take. All I have to do is have it in by a certain time the next day. I can work at 4 p.m. or 2 a.m., whatever I want.
A company cannot dictate your hours if
you are an IC.  If you are an employee, they can!
Or the ones who dictate a whole sentence while yawning!
nm
As a true IC, an employer cannot dictate
your hours, you decide when you work. However, they have the right to terminate anyone who they think is not working out to what they need. They can request you work, but they cannot force an IC to work.
An MTSO cannot dictate the hours you
work or hte amount; however, they can stimulate that the only hours work is available is such and such, so if you want to work for them, that is when you work. It is your choice.

There is nothing wrong with an IC committed to a specific set of hours. It is their choice of when to work and they want to work M-F, 10 to 6, and tell the MTSO that, that the MTSO will expect them to work unless they are notified otherwise--there is nothing wrong with the MTSO expecting the IC to work when they say they will.
What do you mean the president is going to dictate how transcription gets done?
I don't think the President has any feelings whatsoever in how transcription gets done. His idea is to go to EMR - that has nothing to do with not having transcription - that has to do with the way the transcription is stored - electronically, not paper.

I worked for a hospital that has had EMR for years now and believe me, we had more transcription waiting on us every day than we could possibly do.
Anybody ever heard of a company called E-Dictate? (sm)

If so, are they good, bad, or somewhere in between? How are they to work for?

Anyone else lucky enough to have all nurses dictate for doctors?
I just started a new account and can hardly believe my good fortune--all nonESL nurses dictating for the doctors for a specialty clinic. What a joy after the last account I had!
Can you split a shift?

Sorry about all of the questions.  Have several full-time offers, just trying to make the right choice and need at least a little flexibility.

You can have a split schedule, but whatever
schedule you agree to work there is no flexibility within that schedule.  You don't have a window of time to do your work.  I find that being strict with my schedule actually gives me more time to do other things, but I still hate the rigidity and wished we had a 12-hour window.  There are days where a lot of the accounts are practically doing the work as it comes in despite having a 24-hour TAT so it seems like there could be some flexibility allowed.
Split Tunnel
It's called split tunnelling and it's a setting on the VPN concentrator at the hospital. You'd need to speak with someone there (or ask your MTSO to) to allow split tunnelling. It's a security setting. Hope this helps.
Jeff Smith
You can split the 8 hours over Sat and Sun

Diskriter with let you do a split shift

Transtech allows you to split your shift.

or she is doing all the posting because her personality split!!
woohoo!
WE COULD SPLIT (LEGAL) HAIRS ALL DAY ..
on this board.  Are you up to it?  But who do you REALLY think is going to come out ahead?
MDI-FL will let you work split-shift too I heard...nm

Every account is different. The company is split into departments such as sm
clinic, Basic 4, radiology, ortho, cardiology, ER. Each has different accounts and each account has different specs. I know this sounds vague but you would have to talk to the office because of the differences in TAT, ESLs, etc. For instance, my account is ortho and there are no ESLs on my account. I do two docs only but my friend is radiology and she has dozens of doctors and most of them on her account are ESL (I think she is paid higher).

For insurance, it is health and can be for family. The benefits are OK but I am happy because I have steady work. I would rather have steady work than benefits that can't be achieved.
I had a friend who worked there on a split shift yet (sm)
I was told I could only work my shift hours, no more, no less. I guess it just depends on what kind of mood they are in the day you are hired.
I think it's a combination of both. Plus, the work gets done lickety-split and they -- sm
don't have to listen to doctors, floors, etc., whining about, Where's this report?  JMHO.  Heard from one of the clerks at the hospital I used to work -- reports are a mess, but they're getting done.  Mgmt thinks quantity.  Typical.  I think a big part of the problem with MT today is that those in charge are clueless about MT itself and the dedication and skills that go along with it in a quality MT that can do quantity AND quality.  They think that if you can type, you can transcribe.
If you check the archives it is pretty well split.
..
I have worked a split shift for many years, with
3 different companies.  I've never had an issue with any company.  I can't speak as to the insurance, but very few companies have affordable insurance.  Unless you has pre-existing condition you most likely can do better on your own.
I have worked split shift for 3 years.
I work Sun-Thurs 6a-10a and 6p-10p, and I love it.  I can't personally sit at a computer for 8 hours straight.  I did graveyard shift like that once and hated it!!
been working a split shift for a month just to try to maybe get my lines in
Which is slowly draining the life from me. I can get their minimum NO problem at all if they provide steady work. However, it trickles in now and most of the time I have to wait between jobs for work. Also really tired of their dumb e-mails patting us on the back because everything is in TAT. Well, with not enough work and too many MTs, what do you expect?? I am heading for the way out pretty fast!
Are there any companies that hire emp status and let you work sort of a split?
I would like to work 6 hours during the day while kids are in school and then about 2 hours in the evening. Are there companies that will allow this? Do they have affordable benefits?
I wish Logitech made a wireless ergonomic/split keyboard.

D&L shifts, etc ...
There are no shifts, that's the good thing. Let's say you have an ortho surgeon and he dictates 3 days a week. He becomes your primary and whenever he dictates, usually you will know what days and everything, you may have 2 day turnaround or just 24 hour turnaround, just depends on the doctor you have. They generally will give you more than one doctor depending on how much work you want. I had 4 doctors. One was every day, 24 hour, another was 3 days a week, 48 hour, another was split between 2 people because he was every day and lots and lots, and they also give you a secondary doctor so you can be backup. It is really flexible cause there are no shifts as long as you get the work back to them in the time frame that you are required to for that particular doctor. I don't think think they deal much with the basic 4, at least not when I worked for them. The only downfall was no direct deposit and cpl. Otherwise, I would recommend that company for flexibility compared to some others.
TT shifts
Yes, shifts are required and you are supposed to complete the whole shift, even if you have already met your minimum line count before it's over. On the other hand, you can make up lines anytime you want. They've been great to me whenever I've need to swap a day or change my shift by an hour or two, etc.
TT shifts:

Here is an excerpt: ****

*** Please do not post company communications.  ***

I know that DSG has their accounts split into DSG1 and DSG2 and I've noticed that the numbers for

both sides have been running a little low, may be due to the emphasis on tight turnaround time.

you can pick from 3 different shifts
10-6, 11-7 or 12-8 and I believe you have to work Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs. You type and get paid hourly, but you have to do a minimum of 1000 lines a day. That's about it in a nutshell.
yes but you can work 1 of 3 different shifts 10p-6a, 11p-7a, or 12a-8a
nm
also Tues-Sat shifts-nm
xx
all of the shifts are monitored - sm
What I mean by that is, if your hours are 7-11 and 4-8, and let's say you are on a 3 minute report at 9:45 a.m. and at 10:25 you are still on that report, someone from Diskriter might call your house to see if you are actually working, and they will want to know what is taking so long to do a 3 minute report. They may even ask if you are taking a 15 minute break etc.
There are 2nd and 3rd shifts here working - nm

I'm sick of set shifts as an IC.
THEN getting constant IMs to work when I'm supposed to be 'off'.  If you want me at your beck and call you better be giving me benefits!
Yet the have an ad on this board for ALL shifts?

That almighty TAT -- I have questioned this and questioned this with them, but no answers to my satisfaction.  They always seem to answer the part of the question that they want to answer and dodge the rest.

There has been work disappearing around 9 a.m. -- not just on Mondays!  I thought it was a little strange last week when I noticed by looking at the time the job was dictated that a **chunk** of dictation just like angel dust was gone!

Seems quite selfish of them to leave us with no work, but I guess TT's way of getting their money back from the 25.00 Amex gift certificate that **gave** for MT week!  What a gift that has turned out to be for us MT's out of WORK!

FT 40, PT 20 & hiring for all shifts
I love it here and wish I had made my move earlier!
