Serving Over 20,000 US Medical Transcriptionists

That's odd, I never said anything about trashy notes. I said "significantly higher production.

This is usually because the MT is more motivated as they are being paid by the line. I neve said anything about less quality. Certainly you have a range of speed that continues to assure high quality. You might be motivated to transcribe at the high end of that range if you are paid more to do so.

Because in a production environment, the MT will generally produce a significantly higher number of
lines per day.
trashy posts might be . . . sm
causing people who would normally answer some of the questions to just stop coming on this site. The last 2 days have been so disgusting it's not even funny. I can't believe the administrator is allowing this trash on here. Like the poster above, some people only come on to be nasty and insulting every time the opportunity arises (and some of them see everything as an opportunity to be nasty). Heaven forbid anyone ask for answers to questions on here!
The percentage of offshoring is higher than 15%, much higher - sm
Two more points - the Indian transcriptionists seemed to get the easy American dictators while the US transcriptionists get the Indian doctors and other ESLs.  Never made sense to me.  Also, a poster said the work is QA'd before being sent to the client - not all the time and if was then QA needs better training.
OBVIOUSLY YOU ARE A HIGHER UP
OR A SUCK UP THAT CHERRYPICKS ALL THE GOOD WORK AND GETS PAID FOR YOUR SPACES.  Get a life and leave us poor people alone.
Higher?
They won't if you don't know how to spell hire.
higher
SS pays higher than that for QA.
higher than DQS
but I get paid for everything whether I type it or not, headers, footers, ADT, etc.
they can higher new MTs
nm
My pay is much higher
I do VR and straight and what you quoted lots lower.
higher pay does not mean better. Try them both.
nm
That is for pay; what they charge is much higher. sm
They are not cheap. Our department went with them a few months ago, and they were higher than all but one other company. My manager and her higher-ups really liked them. We have met the owners and two of their managers and I have to say that I was impressed too. They were definitely the nicest company that came in. They are doing a great job too. I am going to work there part time evenings, so I would recommend them.
Not really. I think the average is higher than that. That's on the low end.

I would not take less than 1.25. Just my opinion though.

so if it is not 8, is it higher or lower..(nm)
''
Are you the KS Lead that goes to the higher ups?

If the higher ups are telling you they are getting 20 accounts, they are probably counting each dictator on one account!  Would that make sense!  I'm being sarcastic.  Is it working?  LOL  Think, people, think!!!  LOL  - laughing at this whole thread.  It is hysterical!  I LOVE THIS BOARD!!!

If Keystrokes was so fantabulous, they wouldn't need to post on here to hire!!!!!!!

They pay higher than most and their communication
I though they were very professional and the Beyond TXT platform was not half-bad.  They treat you like a person and not someone from far, far away.  LOL  - They have my vote as well!
nor that smart especially the higher you go LOL
.
Of course it is too low. Will you get higher rate?
x
They start out higher than that :)
nm
That is the average or even a little higher...
especially nowadays...
Why not ask your supervisor or higher
up people in the company itself for a straight answer??
Take the higher paying job! sm
These companies don't care about us anymore, so why should we care about them?  At the end of the day, we all need money to pay our bills.
I think they have their sites set higher. See msg.

Our goal is to steadily increase offshore volume although to the extent that our

revenue grows rapidly it could certainly be a challenge to increase the

percentage of our total volume that we’re processing offshore

I found the above from the lengthy meeting notes from July 29 of this year.  It is at the top paragraph of page 6. Transcend wants to offshore.  There's no stopping them.

I think they are betting the MTs with higher rates of pay (sm)
will get the heck out of there and then all the new ones that are hired in will be at the lower rates. Kind of like filtering out the older employees who are close to retirement and top of the pay scale.

Hope I am wrong, but....
Your current rate must be way higher than 7 or 8 cpl
I have more years experience than 11 and they were only paying me 8.2 cpl.  I would have had to make almost 750 lines per hour to make the amount I was making before they went to BT.  They admitted themselves that it's not possible.  It really disgusts me that they expected us who had been with them a while to continue working for them with that amount of paycut, help them educate their new VR system, work on studies to help them repair all the bugs, and then turn around and offer newbies 10 cpl.  I have no idea where the heads of these people are, but they certainly aren't on their shoulders.  I'm so happy to be out of there and for the past few weeks, I haven't felt the stress and despair that I felt every single day for months at Transcend.  That alone is worth leaving for me and the higher pay is a plus too.
Why would we have to test for higher levels when we already do them. Well, SE is much better for me
so I will be looking for SE meanwhile or IC.
KS has both. IC pay is higher. Employees have benefits. I sm
am an employee and it fits me well. I make great money, have lots of work and have been there a while.

Ignore the nay-sayers. This board gets so nasty sometimes.
That is a higher line rate
than I make now.  Thank you for the info, I will apply with Medware this afternoon, they sound like a good company.  Where I am at now my supervisor rarely contacts us, only to say work more so a company like Medware that has nice people is what I am looking for.  Thank you again!
did they mention anything higher than level IV? sm
for higher percentage of ESLs?
Does anyone know of companies who will higher newbies?

Most of my students will be graduating soon with associate's degrees with major in medical transcription.  Are there any companies hiring new graduates?

since 2003, I do believe they pay higher than most nationals sm
and quite a bit higher per line for speech recognition. you could mention you don't want a cut. I think they are looking right now for Tues-Sat or Sunday through Thursday schedules.
They will go a bit higher than that for second or third shift. That, along with the incentives,
makes it a pretty darn competitive line rate when you also take into account the rich benefits package. JMHO.
No, higher. I think like 6 or 6.5 cpl. I would call Debbie and ask her.
s
why do you all say they have higher line rates? sm
I applied there thinking they would offer me something competetive and I was offered 8 cpl for 6 years' experience. Not on your life.

I turned them down flat.
Higher line rates
When I was with MQ, I was making 9.75 cents a line, but I accepted a position with another company for 8.5 cents a line. The lines are easier to come by with this company, so it equaled out anyway. By the way, have 20 years experience. These companies only pay so much. What do you get per line?
Higher line rates
Yes, worked for the company MQ bought up for about 3 years before that. I left because I was not making money at MQ anymore, was working harder for less money with the cesspool and all, was making about 500.00 less a month. I am back where I was with MQ before all the changes financially, and really like the company I am with. I read on here that MQ was offering 12 cpl (I think) for people to come back. I got a few phone calls, but never called them back.
ultimately money has higher value
unfortunately true at times
Yes!! I don't like the new insurance, more expensive and higher co-pay. nm
nm
Higher? I don't understand ... it is lower

Why do you think it is higher?  It is quite a bit lower from what I can tell.  I have the family plan and will be saving $238.00 a month over what I was paying before with the mid-range plan I am getting, and the difference between a 25, 35, or even 40 dollar copay isn't squat when look at the lower premium ... that is where the big cost is with premiums .... unless maybe you have to go to the doctor every week or something.

Employee only insurance is higher..sm
I was paying $61 a month with $20 co-pay.  Now I pay $99 a month with $40 copay and same decutible as before.
6.5 cpl ???? They START people higher than that. sm
I think they start at 8 cpl or 8.5 cpl and they do raise up according to account and time with them, etc. I make 9.5 cpl with them but have been there a while. I average 20,000 lines a pay period. Radiology is great because of shortcuts and macros!
6.5 cpl ???? They START people higher than that. sm - RAD-KS
i may just apply!  6.5 is not good at 10 yrs of Rad experience.  I got offered 9 somewhere but as an IC and this company I dont think cares because I have yet to hear from the lead Transcriptionist about training i.e. welcome to the group etc... I am just confused about IC companies today..  At least with employee status, it is much more organized about when things will take place.
Cost of living is higher
In eastern bloc and Ireland and India. They're gonna want as much as we make. And if not now, then soon once they seal the deal. Plus our HIPAA laws still don't apply anywhere but here. There is still that.
Somebody higher up than me needs to answer this in more detail,
but in my own case, I work first shift Tues-Sat. One day out of the month I have to work around my schedule because I have a standing prior commitment. I have NEVER been given any trouble about that. I just work extra before and after (and there's always plenty of work) to make up the time and the lines.

Other people on my team have some pretty wild and crazy-looking schedules, no doubt created to accommodate their individual needs, but I have no firsthand knowledge of that. A former co-worker who was hired at the same time as me worked a split shift, to accommodate her child care schedule. So there is certainly some flexibility in setting up a schedule to begin with.

Once our schedule is set, we are expected to show up for our shift, unless we have made prior arrangements, or unless an emergency happens. I don't know if that is what you might call 'strict' or not. But I've always found that people are willing to work with me if I give them a chance. Hope this helps.
Meant "think", yea, you are a higher up. nm
nm
Were the MTs let go older/higher-paid, and
.
Why do you think there are so many notes SM
on this board pertaining to how long it takes to get a decent line count?

They will tell you it is a 65 character line. It is not. As stated, more like 75-80. There are ways to work with it, make tons of macros, etc. But it is tough.
I only wish I had ER or OP notes, mostly
consults, discharge summaries, H&Ps and the occasional progress notes. I've been at this for almost 20 years though.
op notes
I do acute care which includes a pretty good many op notes but there are other work types too. I dont know if you are looking strictly for only op notes. I work for Alphamed solutions who is currently hiring. I have DSL. I believe it is required. There is usually plenty of work on my account. I hardly ever get on and no work. Rare. I work on the Dictaphone Extext with Transnet. But they also have other platforms. I hope I was of help.
ERS/OP NOTES
Does anyone remember seeing the job posting for someone to do ERs and op notes?  What company was it?  I cannot find it.
Can't you do everything but op notes?
H&P reports and consultations are similar whether acute care or clinic work. Discharge summaries aren't that difficult either for someone coming from clinic work. I agree that the op notes will take lots of time to learn. So why not ask if you could just do H&P reports for a while and then consultations, and then discharge summaries and maybe later on the op notes? I just received the opportunity to do discharge summaries after having only clinic work experience, and what I like the most is that this offers the opportunity to expand my knowledge because I get to transcribe reports in so many specialties. I understand that you are mad at the recruiter and somewhat unhappy because of computer issues, which means there are several things going on here. First you might want to figure out whether you want to stay with them or move on. If you like working for Precyse, then I would try to find a solution as mentioned above. If you do not like working for them, then it would be best to move on.
PO/OT notes
I agree. Not only are they boring, good grammar is lacking on many of them; they slur through the reports and don't seem to have any continuity of thought or format. I had one very good dictator the other day; I could have kissed her! Otherwise, I don't consider those medical reports, just a mess of words on a page. This is from my experience. You can also nix about 50% of the psych dictators. Just my take on this.
