That's absurd

When you are a contractor, you're in business.  It's not even sensible to think you had to limit your billables from one client.

I get frustrated with those people working as an IC who don't have a clue what that means, not saying that's you, just going off the question.

Maybe you want to look at what constitutes an IC (look it up on the IRS page) and then see if YOU are adhering to the description.  If not, then insist your EMPLOYER list you properly.

You should have given a contract to every client (this means every service who thinks the only one calling shots is them) stating your availability, price, etc.

And for goodness sake I've no clue who would have told you there were earning limits, but can you imagine telling the dude building a house, you can only pay him $25k and then he has to get someone else to finish??

This is absurd
Many MTs are making $1.50+ per page, > 10 cpl, and I disagree with your VR line rate.

What you don't seem to consider are the costs of the service owner. While you may not feel they are worthy or significant, they DO impact profits. And service owners deserve profits, even good ones. Without them dealing with the crap from clients, making sure they are not underbid, stroking egos (including those of MTs) you'd have no work.

I've spent many years as a service owner and I paid well. But as costs began to increase exponentially and rates decrease exponentially, I chose to hang up the MTSO hat and just do MT.

If you are being paid less money than you feel you deserve, have less work than you feel you deserve, why do you stay with that company? It becomes supply and demand. If you say no to crap salaries, then the work will either become more valuable or go offshore.

That's absurd. TransTech has nicest QA sm
people I have dealt with, ever. Never ignorant to me and always, always very professional.
What's her reasoning for getting rid of them, I wonder?

How does she have so much pull with the company?  What reason does she give for getting rid of all of these people, not meeting production or what? How can someone be with OSi for some years, move into QA, have it not work out, and then not be offered their MT position back? Definitely makes me want to just stay put in my little spot here.

I'm so sorry. What was their reasoning? nm
nm
And you reasoning being?
NM
Don't agree with the reasoning. sm

A farmer doesn't wait until the grocer sells his crop (veggies) before he pays the farm workers.  If you stated in your contract to the subcontractors that they do not get paid until you get paid, now that is another story.

How is that faulty reasoning?
It states in our contract that the cut off days for lines are the 15th and the last day of the month and that we will receive payments 7 days AFTER. Anything before is just EARLY.

We got used to getting paid a day or two after the cut off day for awhile so now that we are getting paid the way the contract states everyone is up in arms.
exactly my thoughts and reasoning.....nm
nm
We do not have an 800 number either. The reasoning is that sm
toll-free numbers are very, very expensive for companies and with cell phones and unlimited long distance, there is no reason to have them any longer.

What is the reasoning he is giving?
I did have one company tell me that I couldn't have any file sharing type of program on the computer I would be using and would need to uninstall all other platforms. I ended up not working for them as if they want to tell me what I can and cannot have on my work computer, then they need to provide the computer.
