The memo is 7 am to midnight. So for third shift no coverage on pager.

Posted By: SadMT on 2008-01-31
In Reply to: OK after the email I just got from Transtech - I'm leaving - RIDICULOUS

And for the weekend, no paging really unless their system is down, not ours. Actually, that's less stressful because if we are down we just e mail and forget about it. Of course downtime would help that is paid downtime.
This e mail does not bug me. But, I do have to say I have become increasingly depressed over this job lately and I am not usually this way. I have a feeling I am not alone in my depressed feeling, I just wish I knew why I felt this way. Things looked so good 2 weeks ago... I agree with the aarrg above. Double arrgg for me to.

The e-mail said 7 AM to 12 AM (midnight).
nm
It means midnight.

It's 7:00 am to 12:00 am - midnight. LOLOLOL. Please leave. I promise they do not want you.

Mine has been in the bank midnight Friday and
I have promised to pay some bills Saturday morning! I sure hope that I don't get into trouble over this. I know they say we don't get paid til Monday, but if the money has always been there before, why should we assume different! I will be in some real trouble if the money is not in the bank midnight tonight. The bills don't wait til the weekend is over the money is due now. Why would they not communicate a problem with us? Before I have a fit, I am going to assume it will be there. Why assume the worst if they did not say anything right? (she asks nervously).
This is true. Shift does matter. I work 2nd shift and really have not had any issues with not havi
x
yes, you have a certain amount to turn in by Sunday night at midnight, but you can try and type it
all that Friday.
i would call at the high ups every night after midnight to request you be taken off their employee l
keep calling each of them every night after midnight as they do to you until you finally make someone upset enough that they see to it that you are removed from ALL their lists. or you could block their # and do the spam for emails as the other poster said.
3rd shift radiology can be like that. Feast or famine. Same with 3rd shift sm
ER work. Sometimes the doctors are too busy to dictate, so they do it at the end. Why don't you talk to them and ask about a different shift?
LP VBC Memo - sm

I'm not sure why she (LM) bothers to send these out or even to come here and defend herself or her company.  You people are dense, denser than old glass doorknobs.

She clearly explains what a VBC is and also states that LP is not using this method of counting.  However, she has an opportunity to bid on an account that is requesting VBC and she was also looking for some feedback from any of her ICs who may already be using this method.  She explains that there is an 18% difference in counting totals.

She is explaining that this is the new industry wave so to speak and we should all be aware so we can plan accordingly or have a better understanding, kind of like when we went from gross to  65 character method or even switching from WP to Word.

Ya know, LP and LM are not perfect.  I've worked there on an off for the last 15 years, but come on she was not dropping a huge bomb on anyone, cutting pay rates, etc.  She was actually trying to be helfpul and informative as well as gather some information for future use.  I'm sure she garnered useful information - some of her ICs are challenged in reading comprehension.

I think you need to read your memo again.

The very first thing it says is, Offshore editors are paid $8 per hour and it goes on to describe the new pay structure for us US editors/reviewers exactly. So, that tells me that we are getting the same wage as them. I am not sure how you got that all turned around.

Maybe a mistake was made and this memo was not supposed to go out to us US employees describing India wages. BUT, now the cat is out of the bag!!

Got that memo, did not say anything about account
I know about the e mail asking if people were interested in speech editing, but it did not say what account. If the one says that account is having glitches, and you were interested, I would ask my supervisor if I were you to see the progress. Those of us who were not interested have not heard any further or what accounts are on that speech track. Perhaps some tests or things we don't transcribe are going Speech. I am sure if the account were going totally speech they would have let us know by now. If you talk to your sup and get an answer, please let us know. Tx.
No memo. You'll only know for sure if
you are on the team that gets a new account. One did start in the middle of July but runs as dry as all the rest of their accounts. You'll only notice on the Community Page if you know all the accounts and see something new. They don't care if you have no work. The TAT is to their advantage.
Lee Perfect VBC memo
Does anyone work for LP and get this VBC memo today? If so, can someone please explain to me what it means? I already asked the owner and she said REREAD THE MEMO. I don't know if she wants us to take a pay cut or to add an account.......TIA!!!!!!!!!
Lee Perfect VBC memo
Thanks :(( It was not making sense to me....
Lee Perfect VBC memo
Thanks for the support! Feeling better for it!!!!!!
Lee Perfect VBC memo

The owner wrote to me with this message ..... there is no paycut.  No new accounts.,    If you do not care to know about VBC ok,  in the future many transcription services will be using it.    Not ours.

Lee Perfect VBC memo
I am the mentally challenged old glass doorknob! lol
No one can feel worse about it than me but I needed some clarification. I wish I could have understood what she wanted to say but I did not...there were others who did not either...I was not bashing her or the company. I love my job there BUT I needed help understanding the memo. Thank you for the info. It was clear as a bell.
Ya know, even if I spend time during my shift or after that shift

it is still MY time, expected by the company, and I am not getting paid for it regardless.  I don't answer my phone while I am working, never did, never will.  What other profession, while probably punching a clock, do folks work for free?  If I worked in an office doing this, that time would be paid - say 15 minutes a day x 5 days a week at even $10/hour =   $50 a month - and it is more time spent than that to deal with the email thing and the reminders and the changes in specifics and logging in and out of 3 different accounts when primary is out of work.  GRRR.

I don't change jobs easily either, glad you are happy where you are - but producing 1400 lines of ACCURATE text will end my career soon (and probably yours also) and then what are we all to do?  My goal is not to work more, work harder and longer hours to produce a salary I can live on.

You read the memo wrong
The memo read pay for reviewing of offshore work will be paid at.....  It does not mean that we are paid the same as those offshore.  My pay has not changed since this went into effect.  We were all offered the option to transcribe if we did not like the base rate plus incentive.  I for one do like it, but if you do not, why do you not transcribe instead of review?  It is an option that was offered.  Just a suggestion that may work better for you.
I think the accidental memo proves a whole of it goes
nm
It almost looks like a memo she got and didn't make it into an ad.

I was also wondering about that $7000, is that per month, per pay period, maybe per year?

Nevermind, I should have read the whole memo about update. Duh... nm
.
so then why did she send the memo?? sounds strange to me. nm
.
The solution center's memo of an upgrade to the system SM
in the next couple of weeks (not on company computer right now so don't remember exact date) includes release notes that says the issue of the platform freezing will be corrected. I hope this fixes some of my own problems.
Memo specifically said upgrade would address the platform freezing up.

No, we got a small Valentine's gift that looks like a paper weight/ memo holder??

They pay well 10 cpl days, 11 cpl 2nd shift, 12 for 3rd shift
1300 lines a day required, 65 character line. They have benefits. Don't know much else.
I have worked both 3rd shift and day shift (SM)
including what you call banker's hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). I ran out of work more often on 3rd than I do now on the day shift.
MAYBE they only need coverage
during those times. They might have other employees/ICs that cover other times so they only need them then. If you don't want to work then, then don't work there. As an IC you do not have the right to jump in whenever. You only have the right to say I will work xx to xx; or say no, I will not work xx to xx.
They do not pay anything on family coverage, IMO. That is why I would rather be an IC and buy

my own policy versus being an employee of a service.  When you think about it, being an employee for most of the services out there offers no real benefits at all.  I have found that the PTO that some of these companies offer as part of their benefits package is a crappy.  You basically get paid a base hourly rate for any PTO you take and that base rate never EVER equals what you actually make when typing.  So you are basically penalized for taking time off.

And health insurance benefit packages are a joke!  They pay nothing for family coverage and not to mention there is always the threat looming over your head that if your production falls, they can take your benefits away.

If I were you, I would either be an IC and buy your own policy or try to get on with a hospital that offers work at home MT jobs.  Hospitals are the only places that offer decent health insurance coverage for families.  I have my own accounts and bought a health insurance policy for my kids and I, but recently I took a job with a hospital just for the insurance.  So now I have my own accounts plus I work FT for a hospital from home.  I pay $175 a month for family coverage with a $1000 family deductible.  It was financially a smarter move for me to go to work as an employee with the hospital because I'm saving a bundle on insurance.

Again, let me say, I would NEVER go back to work as an employee for a service.  They don't offer anything that I would consider benefits.  You're better off buying your own policy.

Family coverage
is about $217 per pay period. I think you have to get this one if you have more than one child.
I have the individual coverage
and it's about $17 per week.  United Healthcare, good plan.  250 deductable.  I wish I could help you more but I know my regular doctor is on the plan so I am quite happy with the coverage.  Hope that helps.
I pay $202 per month for just me. The coverage is sm
OK, not bad actually. I don't go to the doctor often though.
Yes they have family coverage

but I do not need that right now.  I have a schedule but they are flexible hours so that really helps.  Pay does include all spaces, but what I like is the direct deposit and the steady work.  I have been with Medware for 2 years and always have work.  If my primary is out they give you a back up account.  Finally my income meets my needs and I can move ahead with some things around the house that needed fixing.  Plus it's nice knowing I have good health insurance.

We apparently don't have the same coverage
I have been charged the deductible for office visits, which was a surprise to me when it happened. Also, many medications are $50 per co-payment.

If you are healthy and don't need it, I guess it's good insurance. If you use it, you pay a LOT out of pocket and now it will be worse.
WMX has best overall family coverage
I absolutely agree 1000%!!! It has great benefits.
Vacation Coverage - IC
I work as an IC also, and I'm taking a few days off in just a few weeks. I let them know a month ahead of time. I'm the only one working for this company (very small) and she won't hire anyone else, so they know what they're in for when I'm gone. I don't know what they're going to do because they always had another girl for back up. The only bad thing I'll have more work than I can handle when I come back. I'm not sure how other companies handle the situation.
What kind of coverage?
Is that pretty good coverage or a big deductible?
MTSO can say need coverage for Dr X, do you want
x
That is for family coverage.
Maybe there are people that might have had a different experience, but just giving my opinion. I have also heard their platform sucks before from other people.
I did not take the insurance coverage - already had it. nm
x
True. They may only need coverage for
certain times, therefore those are the times they hire the ICs for.
I had to drop my coverage -
I could not afford to pay the premiums as I had no work. I was basically working just to pay that.

Also, since they paid on a tier plan, I went from making over 11 cpl to making 6 CPL at the same time. That is why they do not mind overhiring - they get the same work done for much less money, so that means more money in their pockets.
I have it 2. Pay about $50 for full family coverage.
Yep, all maintenance is paid 100% - major stuff pays very well, too. I really like it, and have had it for years and years.  Nothing exciting, but good basic dental coverage. I like the $1000 a year per kid for braces! Sure helps with 3 in them!!  I think its just the normal probationary period til it starts - 3 months? Honestly don't remember reading anything about waiting a year for braces though.
That's not bad for single, but I really need family coverage.
Anyone know what these companies preminums are like for family coverage.. Thanks.
Single coverage at TH for medical is $52 a mo and add in sm
vision and dental takes it up to around $70, which is the most reasonable I have seen.
Coverage through my DH company for 2 adults and

2 kids is $280.00/mo for medical only, additional $$ for dental, vision, and life insurance for other members besides DH.   Not sure how much company pays, but not much.

Starbucks has the best health coverage -

question about IC and vacation coverage pls sm
I was under the impression that as an IC I am not responsible for finding vacation or sick coverage for accounts; that would be up to the company I am contracted with (no written contract, just verbal but don't flame me it's worked for 4 years now).  What do other ICs do when they want to take time off (a foreign concept, I know I know)? Do you find your own coverage or let the company who has the accounts handle it?  This company has flip flopped so much - at one time we had to have our own coverage, another time we got major slapped for doing so as the accounts were theirs and they would handle coverage, and now seems to be swinging back to find your own or don't take vacay.  TIA.
Probably pay 50% of single coverage and you pay the difference.
