thing and not during my shift, as I work evenings. Something about changes in the organization and jobs have been phased out or merged and mine was phased out. I know that without shift leads there are going to be a lot MTs out there on their own, but what can I say. Just the way of the MT world I guess, constantly changing. lol
As a recruiter, I'd hire an Andrews grad in a New York minute. You're doing a great job of se
They are properly trained. They are ready and able to work from day #1.
Wouldn't YOU like to have training that made you a hot commodity the minute you graduate? Maybe you should go back to school so you can be an arrogant MT and not be penalized because you aren't cutting it.

As a famous model once said Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.

Good luck in your future endeavors.

They pay per minute dictated for THE RADIOLOGIST ON CALL FAXED A PRELIMINARY REPORT.
It's hard to make money when you get really short reports.
People were nice to me though.
Why don't you call the recruiter
How difficult is that.  You can even do it anonymously, give a fake name if they ask who you are.  Just call them.
Just got a call from the TH recruiter SM

I passed their test and they offered me a job!  Yeehaw! ;)  I'm really looking forward to it.  I start around Feb. 13 (my request as I want to give notice where I currently work).

Thank you to everyone on this board who helped me make this decision.

Stressed no more

I got a call from the recruiter
yesterday, and he said he was only looking for PT days or FT night shift :(  That's all I know, though!
call recruiter and ask them
,
I would call the recruiter...

Let her know you are having a problem and I am sure she will make arrangements for another way for you to test.

Best of luck.
I did not pass the test at first so the recruiter says
saying the test was faulty.  I know I did not fail that test.  I didn't like his attitude, and I told him that I kindly was not interested.  I'm not sure I'd spend too much time on this company.  There are some other companies out there that are probably better.  Maybe try Transcend or Keystrokes.  Good luck.
If the same recruiter is still there, I don't think you have to test for Transolutions.
I didn't have the best experience there, but I have a couple of friends who are still there. You should be able to find the contact information on mtjobs. If not, just do a search for Transolutions, Inc. If I remember correctly, they are based in New Jersey. Email if you have trouble and I'll get the contact information from my friends.

I work for a great company if you're interested, but you do have to test. Great PTO, paid holidays, etc. Again, email me if you want contact information.

Good luck!
Call a recruiter. No new employee can tell you this and let me tell you why...
There is a very specific, fairly new paragraph in the information that new hires are sent: If you talk about your salary, you can be terminated.

Salary is dependent on your test scores, your interview, the account you'll be on, and your experience. It differs for everyone, and it is competitve with other MTSOs. Your best bet is to call, or email, a recruiter. Their information can be found on MT Jobs, MT Stars, and MT Desk in their weekly ads.

Best of luck in your job search!
You would probably need to call and ask that question to a recruiter. nm

I would call your old boss or a recruiter. nm

No return call from recruiter

I had a similar situation happen twice, I might add.  I got an E-mail from a recruiter on 2 separate occasions - same recruiter one year apart during my job searches; the recruiter was from Prohibity Transcription wanting to know when is a good time to schedule an interview.  I immediately responded and said anytime from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but to let me know what would work best for her schedule as I am flexible.

I never, on both occasions, received a reply back.  I sent a follow-up E-mail a week later, on both occasions, I might add, and never heard a reply. I called the company and asked to speak to the recruiter by name and got her voice mail with no return phone call.

I, too, have been in this business for many years with a proven track record and I used to get a phone call the same day my resume was sent out by companies, sometimes within 15 minutes upon receipt of my resume.

All I have to say is at first I thought it might have been a fluke the go around she did not respond to my E-mail.  The second time, I am not so sure.

My advice is look to the smaller MTSOs who are family owned as opposed to the Nationals - of course, with most of them, you are an IC, but I find you tend to be treated as a valuable employee and your hard work is appreciated.

Usually they send UPS or Fed-Ex; you can call your recruiter /
trainer and find out if they have a tracking number for the delivery.
I'd call the recruiter tomorrow and ask what the
deal is.  If you need $$ now waiting until 9/1 isn't helping and my the time you go through interviews/testing with other companies it will be about 9/1.  They are hiring lots of people and I'm sure things are chaotic and you might fall through the cracks.
Simple answer. Call a recruiter.

It's not like you owe them your first-born child if you talk to them, they're paid to help.

Axolotl update: got a call from the recruiter yesterday. sm

They give you a computer, but require a $300 deposit on it, to be taken out of your check in $50 increments until paid.   I left a different national a few months ago; and when I had started there a year ago, got a new computer and no deposit required at all.

Got called over a month and a half after I applied to their ad.

Line rate is required 170 per hour.

I'm supposed to get a testing e-mail soon, and have to respond and do the test within 48 hours.    That 300.00 bothers me.   A few extra hundred added to it, and I could buy my own.  I've heard the horror stories of deposits and equipment issues.

I think I'll pass.

Call and ask a recruiter. I think it is higher than most other national companies. Nm

I took their test yesterday, and today got a call
with no interview, nothing - and got offered a job. Want me to train tomorrow, and start next week already. Seems suspect. Although, he did say they have the account, but can't actually get it up and running until they get people in place. Very weird ... I pass.
Any current info on JLG? I took the test and am currently waiting interview call. nm

Yippee - I finally got a call back and did the test files last night
I hate sent another email and even called, but she was out of office. When recruiter sent the test files, she apologized for being out of touch and even thanked me for my persistence.

By the way, I was not talking about Medscribe at all. It is a totally different company.

Wish me luck!

I took a test for a company and my foot pedal would work with the test and I had keep going back

Just took the test myself. No actual dictation to transcribe. Just a written test.
For 13 cpl, I might do it if the dictators aren't a total horror.
I just took the test today - thought it was a great test of MT skills.

Yes, call waiting works. I also have call forwarding from my home line

per minute

I get paid per minute of dictation.  $1.00 to 1.35 per minute.  100-120 minutes in an 8 hour shift is average or 16-20 minutes of dictation per hour.

pay by the minute
I also used to work this way. I worked in house by the hour and we had a quota of dictated minutes we were supposed to meet. Then we started doing it at home and were compensated by the minute. It was awesome! Unfortunately they went with voice recognition and it came to a tragic end. I still miss it. I get paid by the line now and make probably a third less at least than back then. So very sad. Anyone have any idea if this company is hiring for radiology and what they pay per minute? TIA.
minute nor
too heated.
If pay comes out to 1.00, or less per minute is very low...sm
1.25 and up would be good pay per minute... and 200 per day if quite a bit to get through on an average. Good luck!
Pay per minute...
I work for a hospital that pays us per minute of dictation.  It is the entire dictation, whether the doc is sitting thinking, talking to someone else in the room or whatever, a 14 minute report is billed as a 14 minute report.  The pay scale I make is $1.30 per minute after 450 minutes, under 450 minutes $1.25 per minute.  I am sure the hospital itself charges more than that per minute, so I guess it would depend on whether you have your own account or are considering working for a hospital or other company.
Pay per minute...
It is absolutely more lucrative than by the line for me anyway. I almost went bankrupt working for 8 cpl.
More like $1.00 - to 1.25 per minute
Keep in mind the 3 x rule: For every minute of dictation, it takes roughly 3 minutes to transcribe. So if you want to earn $20/hr (example) you have to charge $1.00 per minute. If you factor in even 5 minutes and hour for taxes/interruption/breaks etc., you need to bump it to $1.25 to clear $20/hr.
It says pay is 0.85 per minute.
Seems kind of low to me.
By the minute vs. cpl.......
I was at a meeting the other day where 2 docs were discussing paying their MTs by the minute versus by the line.  It was the first I, personally, had heard of such a thing.  The more I thought about it, the more appealing it sounded to me to be paid by the minute, particularly after I had to listen to a resident literally eat their way through a 37 minute dictation, which ultimately yielded me only about 62 lines.  I was furious!  I would have at least been paid for my time on that report had I been paid by the minute to transcribe it.  I am sure it all balances out in the end, whether one is paid by the line or the minute, considering some docs fly through their dictation without even taking a breath or bothering to enunciate or structure an intelligent sentence.  I would love to hear from any MTs who are, in fact, being paid by the minute.
Pay per minute

I would appreciate information from anyone who is compensated per minute of dictation.  Thank you.

$1.00 per minute
I have worked like this before. The operative reports you get will be between 0.9 to 2.0 minutes and there will be 30-40 lines for one report. You will go broke.
minute pay
I once worked for a company that paid by the dictated minute and I really liked it. Seemed like a good way to pay. The company had a pay scale so that the more minutes you typed per week, the more per minute you got. The bottom line, of course, is how much will we be paid per line or per minute.
That's too low for per-minute pay.
Think about this: A 3-minute report, say you get 1-1/2 to 2 pages. They would pay you $3. There could be 50-80 lines, which at 8 cpl would be $4 to $6.40. A dollar a dictated minute is much too low.
Not at $1/minute.
x
by the minute...
i do legal by the minute and it generally takes 2 to 3 times the amount of time.  So if you get an hour of dictation, it's probably going to take you 2 1/2 to 3 hours to do it, depending on the dictator and sound quality.  Could be more, but not usually less than double the time... hope this helps!
per minute pay
Try and figure it out this way....60 minutes of dictation will take apx 3-4 hours typing...so hopefully that will help figure out per hour.
That is low 1.00/minute is even low..
which would be 60.00 for an hour of dictation..
