There were more than just a few affected.

I have a friend who recently quit QA there because she was affected by this. There were more than a few who were affected. It's more like there were only a few who were NOT affected.

How do you think this will be affected with the new pay plan.

It's not just our industry that's affected...sm

Try calling your ISP, cell phone carrier, cable or satellite company, etc for company service and more than likely you'll receive someone who isn't in the US.

Want to buy furniture?  Good luck finding it American made.

What about your clothes you're wearing? More than likely not made in America.  After all, that's how places like Wal-Mart is able to provide the low prices we want.  When I was in high school back in the late 70s a pair of Levi's would cost you around $20.  They are still around $20 - and it's almost 30 years later - yet the cost of producing them has gone up so something has to give to keep them cheap.

What about your car?  It's hard to find the words American Made Car and Top Quality in the same sentence unless you have $40,000 or more to spend.  Most of us can't afford that so we go to cheaper vehicles - that are in part or wholey made out of the US.   Kia is building a plant here in Georgia that will open next year - and it cost our state millions to get this deal to provide jobs for Americans.  They've already more people asking about jobs with them then they'll have openings for - and they haven't even started hiring yet.

Now look at food.  Where does your produce come from?  Increasingly from Mexico because of pricing.

Now let's take our situation of healthcare and our jobs as transcriptionists.  Hospitals demand lower transcription pricing and get it because of competition.  Long gone are the MTSOs getting 20 cpl for a gross line.  MTSOs now do good if they get 9-10 cpl for a 65 character line - without headers/footers.  The hospitals don't care about the individual Transcriptionist because we don't provide direct patient care that they can bill for - even though if we don't transcribe correctly they can't bill - but they don't view it that way.  On the other hand if you're an oncologist or radiologist and want a new play purty you'll probably get it because it'll make them money.

America has always been a free society with free trade, and as long as that continues our jobs will continue to increasingly leave the borders.  Will government care? Not really because the lobbyists line pockets with cash and gifts to keep getting what they want.  Here in Georgia the head of an area in the state was recently publicized as being unusual because she refuses to accept even a cup of coffee from anyone wanting to do business with the state.  That's the way it should be - instead of the exception to the rule.

Do you mean 60 positions are being affected? sm
I sent you an email.
How offshoring affected me
I lost my job to Medquist (now in Indian hands) 6 months after Katrina and took a 40% pay cut not to mention paying way more for health insurance with huge deductibles and losing my retirement plan, but my wind insurance for my house has gone up 300%.  The math doesn't work.  When you outsource ANY AMERICAN JOB AMERICANS SUFFER!  Tell them that!
I haven't been affected that much in the job I have now

but from reading the boards, income has dropped like a rock. Some hospitals/services want SS#, names, addresses, DOB, etc. in their reports. Not a safe thing to do with all the identity thefts going on.

I started when wages were around 12 cpl, nowhere near that now. Outsoursing has taken our wages down because we are competing with companies that are paying only 1-3 cpl. We are to work for less just to keep the jobs in this country, and even then, it doesn't work because the other countries cut their cost/wages even more.  In India, they can live a good life on 3 cpl from what I've seen, but not here.

Obviously, if you had read the thread, YES, she is affected!
She explains fully and in great detail how this could potentially affect her area, MTSOs, MTs, etc. Who is being vindictive? You're trying to stir up something and make no sense! Maybe Linda?? And comparing what sounds like a huge scandal, complete with convictions and fraud, to "a mistake"?  Trivializing a bit, don't ya think?
Only a few were affected so one must question who really is at fault here.
???????????????????????????
only former CyMed folks affected
So far, they've told us it's only people who were with Cymed prior to the SPi buyout; no SPi folks affected...
why does this matter so much to you? Are you personally involved or affected?
It seems like you are being vindictive.  This was all 15 years ago but you are dragging it up over and over.  Perhaps you are jealous of how she turned her life around. Have you never made a mistake?
Why send emails to everyone if your account is not affected? sm

I guess I do not understand what all of the hoopla is about.  If you are out of work, call the office and get a backup account.  I have a backup account, and have only had to go to it once.  I get the emails that are pertinent to the accounts to which I am assigned.  What good would it do for them to tell me that Hospital X is swamped with work, when that is not my account?

I agree with the poster above -- if people are so unhappy, why stay?  I personally am happy with TransTech.  While I wish the pay scale was a little higher, they have a nice tier incentive plan, the benefits are good and reasonably priced, plus the staff seem to truly care and try to be responsive to the needs of their employees.  Look at how they listened to people complaining about the line counting software, etc.

Just my opinion ...

Since you are a lead and one of their "pets," I doubt this affected you at all. sm
It seems a bit callous toward your fellow MTs, though, not to recognize the plight they are in with no work.  Everyone expects a slowdown around the holidays, but not 2 months' worth.  Love them if you want, and it seems they love you too, but for the rest of us not-so-loved ones, it has been a grim winter in the CS camp.
