Don't know - I've been working for them as an IC
and all of a sudden, I can't log in or anything - and I can't reach anyone to call me back. If I try to log in, it says invalid user ID. Now, a week prior to that, I had just spoken with tech support regarding a problem. Have also stopped getting e-mail messages, etc., and no one will even return e-mail messages. Pretty poor way of doing business. I was working on a very big account and had just been trained for ASR. Don't know what is up with this (I'm not a newbie, either), but thankfully, I'm working as an IC for other MTSOs or I'd be in a bad way. BE VERY CAREFUL OUT THERE.

i think they pay really good.  i love my acct.  the supervisor is a good communicator.  i have a lanier acct, but they do have some accts where your program for retrieving dictation is over the internet, so no long distance needed there. i think they even give you a chance if you don't have fast speed.  i don't have fast speed, where i live it's not available.

I've been working there for a few weeks sm
I like it so far. Their system is a little clunky to me but I came from a job with a great system, so I'm used to the best in technology. From what I hear, MedScribe's system is like many out there. I like my accounts; I have two. Their people are pleasant and helpful. They have a great incentive system. So far, so good.

For a response to the questions raised on previous post (page 2 or 3of company forum) regarding how an IC could possibly know when and why another IC left - apparently they have problems paying IC, however they do have ONE happy IC who seems to know when and why others leave - sounds more management faking it to me.

Was wondering if there were more happy IC at this company. I am always looking for a reason to fall off my chair. Maybe if we could get two paychecks in a row that do not bounce - we would be a little bit happier.

for a new account to start. You can set your own hours to work in a 24-hour timeframe, but everyone seems to work at a certain time. So I ended up changing my hours just to get work. I was given a secondary account, but the same thing happened.  They are a good company as far as pay being on time and nice people to work for, it just depends on if you get a good account as with any national job.

What happens if you're working on a 9 cpl level
and you have a backup account on an 8 or 7 cpl account? Do you still get paid at 9 cpl? Or does the pay vary based on what account you happen to be typing that day?
Monday - 9cpl
Tuesday - 7cpl
Wednesday - 8.5 cpl,
etc, etc.

Did they say anything about that to you?

I've been working 5 hours and it is still only showing 250 lines. It will
come up eventually correct, but seems to take forever.

That's a long wait. Did you call or email them to follow up? It sounds like they hired someone else that didn't work out, then called you.

Not sure how that's going to change after the buyout, but I've heard widely varying reports depending on region.

Since you've only been there 4 weeks, you're
were from disgruntled ex-employees or if they had valid complaints.  It's really easy to say the sky's not falling with 4 weeks under your belt.  It's an almost sure bet that you won't be there in 4 years, maybe even 40 weeks.   General concensus is after 6 months, attitudes start to change, if it takes that long.  I gave it 4 years before I quit believing the posts praising Transcend and telling me to hang in there, it gets better.  I figured after 4 years of not seeing it get better I had enough proof I wasn't a disgruntled employee.

through the same thing.  Here is my advice (for what it's worth).  I would not actually quit until you find a new job.  Then, respectfully, let the old company know that although you feel bad about leaving them that you have to give 2 weeks notice because there is just not enough work to pay your bills.  You could also say that if they do not need you due to low work volume that you could quit effective immediately, but that due to professional courtesy you would be happy to complete 2 weeks (something along those lines).  Just be polite about it.  They know that the majority of us work for a living and cannot expect us to continue to work for a company that does not have work.

and it's frustrating. I'd rather do transcription than QA.

But at any rate, you might want to check out Precyse or Axolotl.

My 2 accounts are extremely busy as well. They haven't slowed down once.
you're in the minority if you've gotten all those raises...
You're the only person I've ever heard of who has gotten not only *a* raise, but raises every year. Even management people will tell you that they do not give regular or scheduled raises. I've asked every year I have been with Cymed and now with SPi and have gotten a grand total of 1 raise, and that was only because there were extenuating circumstances. More power to you, Jamilynn! :D

Of those, I've only worked for MDI-MD, and they're GREAT...
Good luck on your decision. Sounds like you have some great opportunities from which to choose. Go with your instincts and I'm sure you'll do fine.
You're correct when you say we've allowed ourselves
to be doormats. I think we're ALL guilty of that.

The big question is, HAVE WE ALLOWED THIS TO GO ON FOR TOO LONG? Have we reached the point where, even if we all join forces and stand up to the MTSO's, things won't ever change?

No one knows the answer to that yet, as we all still allow them to push us around, and haven't yet started to push back.

The only way to learn the answer to that question is to START PUSHING BACK.

'But, I might lose my job!'

So what? You're ALREADY losing it. To India. To Pakistan. To The Philippines. And soon, to China. You're losing your job by being PRICED OUT OF IT. When your wage reaches a point (if it hasn't already) that you bring in les than it takes to pay your bills each month, you will LEAVE MT and do something else.

But what if you love MT? What if you're good at it? Just loving MT is no reason whatsoever to settle for being paid practically nothing to do it. Your love and dedication to the profession is something that your employer knows you have, and is taking 100% advantage of.


The only thing they've proven is that they're

that y'all went through.  I'd be homeless. 


I hope your work flow continues to remain steady.  I know how scary that can be when the work dries up.  I have gotten so paranoid, I always work 2 and sometimes 3 jobs, just to make sure I am covered.  There is not a big enough cushion yet so that I feel comfortable the wolf will not be at my door. 


Again, congrats -- I'm sure you are relieved. 


And you're okay with working for a company that sends most of its work to India and

whose workforce is predominantly Indian?  You're okay with the loss of American jobs, the falling recession we are in and the falling economy due in big part to the offshoring of American jobs?  How okay will you be when you lose your job to an Indian and you have to apply for food stamps and unemployment?


Sell-out MTs like you are the reason good MTs cannot make a decent wage anymore, why good MTs cannot find a good job anymore, and why sweats shops in third world countries are thriving.  How do you look at yourself in the mirror?


Focus Infomatics employs 800 American MTs and over 3000 Indian MTs.  Tech support is in India.  The company itself is still run by the same Indian man who started the company and sold out to Nuance.  He made a bundle when he sold and he is still making a bundle running the company while he pays his own countrymen and woman peanuts!  He's selling out his own people and you are selling out yours!  On second thought, I guess you belong at Focus with your own kind!

pay down for the rest of us because you're soooo willing to be treated badly & thank them for it.

Marilyn - I think we're on the same account...I've been with KS for over a year (sm)
and was given this as a backup account...I can't make ANY lines on it at all...I've already given up for today.
I have never heard of that....always waited until regular pay day to receive final check.
Any company I have resigned my position from, I just received my final check like usual on the regular pay date scheduled. No big deal, it was always in my bank when it was supposed to be.

Nope, more like a matter of time before we're all working for chump change.

Ditto.. Over 13 years experience working in hospitals doing all types of reports, currently working
for a national etc.. and Spheris told me I didnt have the qualifications. What cracked me up was the hospital I was working at at the time contracted some of our work out to them.. What a joke..I was good enough to work for a hospital and gave them work, yet not qualified enough for them. What is wrong with this picture.
MQ same situation. No pay for working holidays, no pay for working weekends nothing. Now noone works
much anymore and so they jerk the work out of the accounts to some place that throws it back with a lot of bad bad quality. This is the NE region. I dont know what the others are doing.
What good does it do? They've lied, they've betrayed us.

They've taken all they are going to take from me.   I am not going to waste any more time being angry.   I hate the way things ended, but I refuse to accept the blame for any part of it because I know that was a lie too, even though they did try to blame the MTs.  I know part of the problem was quality issues, but QA wasn't to blame for that either, although they have been.   


It is time to pick up and move on.   I think mgmt will reap what they sow.   For those who worked on the main account Webmedx is still hiring, though the best time slots have already been taken.

horrible dictators, sound quality is bad, no answers to emails and they run out of work consistently...that is just my experience though...

You're happy with your paycheck with VR? Do you find the files to be as bad as the original post implied?
So you're telling me, basically, they're bad news?
They offered me 0.095/line and you know - it sounded too good to be true, but I SWEAR the recruiter told me they do not outsource. Oh brother... I just wish they'd be honest. I really don't know what to do.
