They will not hire if you have 2003 or above

They are definitely old fashion and not up-to-date with the new technology. Definitely not the company for me. I did not take the job because I would not go backwards!!!

Don't know mgmt, but in Feb. you needed Word 2003 and Office 2003 to work. nm
s
I have been with them since 2003 and...
No complaints. For the most part good dictators. Few ESL's. Dependable payment. Good QA team, very helpful. Good company to work for.
Since 2003. nm
.
I have been there since 2003 and only ran out once right after sm
I was hired. There is plenty of work if you are willing to do more than one account.
Worked there since 2003
No bad news here. Completely satisfied.
Employed since 2003
I like working with them. We have just recently merged with MD-IT so I don't know a whole lot about the new company but MTSource was great. Whether MD-IT will influence and make changes is something that I don't know. So far - so good. You can use Instant Text but only the latest version.
MS Word 2003
Does anyone know where I can purchase MS Word 2003?  My new computer runs Microsoft Suite 2006.  Word 2007 is the latest thing, and my new employer's system can't run 2007.
I had to get word 2003
for their program, and it was like $350! My computer only has 2000.
Word 2003
I know it kinda sucks about having to upgrade for just one job, but it was actually money well-spent for any future jobs you take. It always looks good on a resume to have updated versions of whatever program is available. Hopefully if things don't work out where you are, you'll be able to get a new job somewhere that appreciates hard work!! =)
back in 2003
they actually tried this & outsourced & the doctors had a fit & went to the CEO bout incorrect reports & the contract got cancelled & we were working back for the hospital within a matter of less than 3 months. I don't see knowing what a disaster it was then why in the world they wanna do it again!
Word 2003
Any idea why so many MTSOs are now requiring Word 2003? Reviews state it's not much of an improvement over 2002 and that it has some features that actually slow you down.
I worked for D&L for 3 years until 2003
what would you like to know?  Things apparently have changed there I was told though but I may be able to answer some questions about it.
Interview from 2003 w/the Shapins
Wow...drastic changes, yes?

The couple also worries about transcription services who turn to off-shore employees to complete the work.

How do you know they're compliant (with United States medical record privacy laws)? Juliann Shapin asked. I get e-mails from these people in India every day. 'Us, let transcription for you do, cheap.' It's not worth it. Sure, it's cheaper, but you get what you pay for.

since 2003, I do believe they pay higher than most nationals sm
and quite a bit higher per line for speech recognition. you could mention you don't want a cut. I think they are looking right now for Tues-Sat or Sunday through Thursday schedules.
You say word 2003 upgrade. Is this

I didn't have to upgrade because I had it already but if its the same company I think the QA person can use a class in learning how to deal with people without rudeness.

2003 does not work with their platform
Only 2000 and 2002.
Yes, worked for them back around 2003 (sm)
Stayed about 3 years. When I started, they were still Edix, and they were fabulous! Good line rates, great QA team, and some of the nicest trainers I've ever worked with.

Then they gobbled up a few smaller companies, became Spheris, and took away our quality bonuses, moving to a strict production-based incentive program. It was still okay for me, because I really liked my accounts and had a great supervisor.

Then they chased off some of the best supervisors, and then I moved on.

I tell friends who ask now that it's a great place to build experience if you are just starting out, but that I would never advise anyone to stick with them long-term. There are better firms out there. Not bad, but not great, in other words.
Yes it does. MQ bought Lanier in October 2003.
..
AlphaMed is new, so pay isn't that high yet and you need Word 2003 there. nm

MSWord 2003 XP sm click link

Ya know what, if you don't have Word and not experienced using it it is best you wait.

The companies usually use parts of Word and mesh it with their own platform and some are a pain to learn., so if trying to learn 2 things, plus all the other stuff, the client, QA and employer preferences to set up report it is just sooo hard for you.

Even instant perfect is not enough.  One has to learn each dictator style, and the employers have no monitoring how the dictators DICTATE one little bit, they just don't care, they expect perfection with junk and the dictators certainly do not care, because they can nobody is telling them to clean up their act.  Don't mean to discourage, but saying it like it is out there. PLUS, the rates are so low, you can make more at Jack-in-the-Box.  Not exaggerating either..

Said to have payment issues in the past. Needed Office 2003
s
Me too. As soon as there is a little extra work they hire and hire and then noone has any. This
goes on all the time.  I get sick to death of it.  I think having 2 part time jobs is better so you have 2 jobs to count on.
A net search brings up a defunct website with a 2003 date on it. Maybe not out there anymore? nm

A year ago, I was offered 8 cpl for experience and I needed my own Word 2003. I turned them down. nm
s
They've used ExText in the past. Ad from 2006 said you need Word 2003. Offered 8 cpl for
s
Last year you needed Word 2003 to work for them. Prior to that, you used their machine

our own Claudia Tessier in 2003...she is executive director of Mobile Health Care Alliance. check t
http://www.mohca.org/presentations/MoHCAintro0103.pdf

this is, in fact, doing away with medical transcription as we know it. rather than free text, there will be standardized text at point-of-service. even coders and billers will be replaced by the computers.

this is at the MOHCA site as well.
Does KS only hire employees or do they hire ICs too? nm
x
LOL!!! They would hire anyone, they just need to get
YIKES!!!
DSG does hire ICs

hire-on?
no, I took their test on-line though...I am shopping around right now for a fair well-known company with a simple format -- I just want to transcribe and be paid for it, none of this tier stuff
Yes they hire IC as well, which is what
I would suggest as this company is not very loyal to their employees.
Do you know if they hire nm
n
Do they hire FT and PT? Thanks! nm
x
they either over hire or have a lot
of MTs leave because they have been running ads for several months now.  I would be leery of that.
Do you know if they hire IC's? nm
x
Yes, they hire ICs.
xx
Why? You want to hire us??

do they only hire FT or do they hire PT as well?
I thought I seen a post somewhere on here that said only FT. I really don't want to work more than 30 hours a week and I know most places cut FT at 32 hours a week. Not that I couldn't put in 2 more hours, but if I had a choice....
Does MDI-MD hire PT
Thanks :)
Also do they all hire from within?
nm
they hire from within if possible. nm
.
they hire only SE's, which is almost
like an IC or independent contractor. Therefore, no, they provide no machine, no benefits, etc. You pay most of your own taxes too.
I believe they do hire ICs
.
new-hire
I just took a position with MD-IT Portland. I am very optimistic about this! It was a much higher line rate than I had with MedQuist, and for now they pay the same for straight transcription as they do for Speech Recognition. They are providing all of my equipment - as I am going to one of their accounts where they do, and it is mostly my favorite work type, ERs.
If you do not do ops they will not hire you.

I hate ops and have never had a problem getting hired and paid decent but this company will not even look at you if you do not all 4 acute care.  I wish I liked ops but do not.  I applied for this company and this was the first time in my 9 years experience that I have had a company turn me down so their loss as far as I am concerned....

They hire both but I don't believe there are any...sm
benefits other than them paying the taxes for you when your a employee...
They do hire for less than that

They hire PT and there is still
8 hours be done on one weekend day though.
So would you hire....sm
Someone to paint the entire interior of your house - as an independent contractor - and allow him to do it any hours he pleases as long as he does some painting every 24 hours?

no, but I would hire
someone to paint the exterior of my house - as an independent contractor - and allow her to do it any hours she pleases as long as she does a previously arranged percentage of my house within a 24-hour time period. I think this is closer to the way being an IC works. At least, this is how it is for me. I have to complete x number of lines within 24 hours, but whether I do it in the first hour or the last hour or anything in between is up to me.
