If you don't like a thread, why not just move on?
It's a shame you allow such tiny little things to annoy you.
Replies are lost when I move a thread. NM

Star Stop works better than express scribe. If you want start Stop, yea it is kind of sm
expensive. I wish they did pay their QA hourly as I think they would see better quality work, but they per line and it is higher than the other person posted.

I have never had a problem with management, so I am unfamiliar with what the other person experienced with management.

Pay is always on time (most of the time early). I like the software. I guess you just have to see if it fits for you.
Stop taking these insulting wages and they will stop offering them.

As your accounts move to India, they move you to another account. NM

Sad but true. You're asked to work NOW, then asked to stop NOW, then go again and then stop
If you dont get off the minute the hospital asks, even if you have no idea that they have requested that your to be off, then the hospital MTs steal your work right out of your queue and I mean reports you have already done. I dont understand the concept of having a contract with a hospital and then having to fight for work with the hospital MTs. We should have guaranteed work during our shift and enough of the the hospital wants you to help right now and then a few hours later they want us to stop working as the work is too low. It is crazy and I couldnt work like that so I had to quit.
You may have to move on to move ahead (sm)
One way to look at what you are doing right now is more training only you are being paid for it; once you have a year or two under your belt as experience, you may be able to command a higher wage someplace else. It's funny, a place will pay more for someone with 2 years' experience than they will pay someone who has worked for them for 2 years! Go figure.
Move on from both! nm

Sometime you have to move on for (sm)
your own sanity.  Working under constant pressure is not enjoyable.  It is important for me to like my job.  Unfortunately, I worked for a place and felt like we (many more than just I) were not being told the truth.  I moved on and so did several others I know.  The company lost a few excellent MTs in the process.  I feel you get more with being straight up than moving through a thick smoke screen.  Sorry this is happening to you, I've BTDT.
Why would you just move on? There are a lot of sm
accounts. You are going to base everything on a few bashers. There are over 300 MTs at KS, some who have been there for a very long time.

My advice? Ask for a different account or ask for assistance on the one you are on. They will help you but maybe you need to go over the person you asked.

I have heard that there is a lead who will not pass on information like that because she doesn't want to lose anyone on her accounts. I know that she is not going to be a lead very long either as I have heard that someone else is taking over her accounts. If you email me, I will help or at least will work to get the right person to do it. I know that it isn't one of my accounts as no one has asked for a change on either of mine and most have been on them over 2 years.
move
May be you need to move then!
Move on.
LOTS of better companies out there than TTS.
I had to move to QA
I broke my thumb playing softball and it still hurts to this day after several years. A lot of people in QA have had injuries of different sorts, but we obviously must have a bank of knowledge and a lot of experience as well. Unfortunately, I have seen some companies stick brand new MTs in QA for some odd reason, presumably because they are friends.

If you can consistently type for 8 hours without getting tired you can make more money as an MT.

One thing that we in QA have noticed is that it seems the highest producers also have the most errors, some of them critical errors. You can tell that they don't proofread or do live checks. They seem to be interested only in the money and not the quality.
MOVE ON! nm

Why not move on?

If you're that unhappy, why not just move on?  There are lots of other jobs on the job board.  It sounds like from your posts that you are a highly skilled MT and you obviously want to work.  If MDI isn't working for you, then why not look for a new job?

I feel terrible for you that your experience is not good, but I don't understand why you stay.  Consider taking another PT job with a different company.  You could work it when the work is slow at MDI and if you find that it's better for you, then move on with the new job.  I'm sure no company wants someone working for them that is that unhappy.

I know that making a change is hard, but it sounds like it's harder for you to stay than it would be to move on.  Not every company fits everybody.  You deserve to be happy.

If not able to do the job, the MTs should move on
I have never worked at a job where I was asked to do so much work I could not do it. Maybe lack of get up and go or slow MTs, who knows? Why do you get the MTs are being disrespected? They can't do their job, we work production. We all put up with dictators who cannot speak clearly, chew, snort, ESLs. That is the way it has been and will be. The dictators are not changing for us. That person needs to probably find another profession.
Stop using my name.
pls get your own. Little it wasnt me.
Huh? Not sure what you mean when you say used to stop
nm
lol stop it man

They won't stop either. sm
I've been gone longer and they still cc me on things.  No calls though.  I'd go ballistic.
You may want to stop looking at those.
Bought by Nuance, run differently now, etc., etc., may want to stop looking at the archives if it's a different co. now.
Please stop!
I thought this board was a place to come and complain - a lot of people don't have the luxury of having people around them that understand what they are complaining about, especially when you work at home. You're there all day, typing away, and even if it's a job you love, you don't have any coworkers around to talk to. Even in an out of the home job, you're gonna complain about something - your boss, the lousy hours, the lousy pay, etc., only there, you have people in the same boat to talk to. Yes, we all keep getting up and doing our jobs every day - some of us may love our jobs and some of us may be looking for something else, but any doctor will tell you that it's good to blow off steam every once in a while - why not with people who understand your situation? Yes, life is short - too short to keep things that are bothering us bottled up! This board is definitely cheaper than Prozac!!!=)
Please. Stop. Now.

Really, before you seem like you are totally unhinged.  You are an example of why no MT would/should want to work at SS.

Now, put down the mouse and back away from the keyboard.  You are frightening us.  Seriously.

I never stop looking even with a job.
Just tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. It took one day to do that.

Anon's reply to my post made me realize this is not uncommon behavior and I have since moved on.

Thanks for advice.:)

You are 100% right on this, and only WE can stop it...
how?!, you say?? I'm looking for a little overflow/weekend work and before I will even test with a company I ask what the compensation rate is. If it's too low, I tell them I would not consider it for less than ___ cents a line. If we keep on taking the work for crappy hours and crappy pay, they'll keep letting us. If we stand up to them in the beginning, and NO ONE will take their slave wages, they'll eventually see they have to offer more to get quality, experienced MTs like I'm sure you all are.

STAND UP TO THEM! Take charge! Let them know that we're not working for 1990s wages anymore, it's 2009 now. I had a company offer me 6 cpl...LOL! I made that as a newby 16 years ago! The cost of living has skyrocketed since those days, yet are we being compensated for it? NO!

It's time for the revolution to start...and while you may think you do not have the power of 1 to do anything about it, you truly do. Tell them, that is NOT enough money.

It might not happen right away, as they have already bid low to get the clients' work. But enough companies out there do not want their work sent overseas...and when they get poor work back they'll see. To hire quality MTs you have to bid higher OR make less $$ on your MTs and pay them a cent more or two. What have we got to lose in trying?
This has got to stop

Companies using other companies has got to STOP!   They are taking from our pay to supply an employee.  What is happening to this industry?  These people shouldn't call themselves a Transcription Company, but instead an Employment Agency taking our pay.  Totally ridiculous!!!   Just say NO NO NO!!  If you work for the company they are hiring for, you get $15 an hour, but as a QA for TTD you get 0.03 cpl for the same accounts, same hours and same job?  Not right, not fair, NO WAY!

Yeah, why would she move on??
She can belittle employees all she wants, does not answer e mails, sends snot grams on a regular basis and steal lines from the employees to fatten her own pockets.
That is a very smart move...
Perhaps that would be a better strategy for me.
This is a great move.
I believe of freedom of expression and we are just expressing ourselves. This problem must not prevail.
Yikes move on....
If this is how they hire people, imagine when it's payday!
Move on quickly...
There are other great companies out there. This really touched me, you sound like a single mom who is trying to just make the best for her kids. I feel for you! I, too, am trying to raise two kids, but work for a great national even though there has been a lot said of that, but they have been good to me. Don't feel like where you are at is the only option. There are many other places out there, just start looking and working at home really isn't so bad! Good luck to you!
Did HIP move to Georgia?
or do they have more than one office location now?  Thanks!
Might have to make a move
Can you tell me how many lines you can produce a day with your Medware account and what the going line rate is for someone with 5 years experience?
No way would I take a cut for AVR. I'd rather type. Move on.
nm
I really wish MTs would move on when a company does this to them.

I know a company who has been pulling this crap for 5 years now stating the same sorry story over and over.  By 5 years, they really should have the bugs worked out, but, oh wait, she bought another new car and put in a hot tub.

Bottom line, if they are not paying on time, move on.  If everyone would respect their work enough not to tolerate this more than twice, then eventually all the crap companies would either fade away or would make the necessary changes to stay in business.  I really believe the MTs who continue to put up with this are perpetuating the problem.  my 2 cents

Good move

Moving to Transtech would be a very good move!

Stupid move
Just because they are hiring does not always mean they currently have the work. I was with a company that was waiting for a certain type of transcription that I do. Even though the company did not yet have the transcription, they were advertising for MTs for that type of work. My sister said that do that so that they can be prepared. I am sure you made a smart move because more than likely they still wont have work to give their MTs.
Shut up and move on.
Geez.
move to another account

I tried that.  After trying to break through the wall of disbelief that I wasn't making great lines.   I was told by mgt *I'll get back to you about that on Monday*.  Never heard another word.

Good move
I have been there for just over 2 months and love it. They are the best company I have ever worked for in my 6 years in this field. I'm sure you'll love it.
consider that is how they do business and move on!
nm
So if I move from the Q to Diskriter, I can put if

Making a move?
Has anybody heard of Diskriter and if so do you know if they are a good company to work for.  Their site looks interesting and their benefits look good.  Thanks!
TransTech. Best move ever!

Me 2!! I just started! Best move

Do they still move the end of the pay period whenever they like.
They weren't bad to work for but that drove me crazy. I had it in my mind that the end of the pay period was on Sunday so I would work my schedule around that. So say on Friday I would think, Great, 2 more days on this pay period just to find out they were cutting it off on Saturday. I believe this was some bizarre attempt to be able to make payroll by cutting the pay periods short. I could understand if it was once or twice but it happened too many times and I find that made me nervous and wondering why you would changes pay periods so quickly without real notice. The company I work for now has their pay period dates set in stone for the whole year so I know exactly when the pay period ends and when I get paid.
I would take it as a sign and move on. NM
