work.  About 6 other MTs left when I did, that I am aware of, due to lack of work.  There are accounts with a lot of work and frequent OT, but I was told they couldn't be worked on as a secondary account.  Made no sense at all to me.

No, Paul, you are not. Left last year due to lack of work, but not lack of respect. It's a shame
I liked 'em a lot.
I worked there for over a year...left because of lack of work...
one months lots of work, the next three months no work, so on and so forth...when there is a little extra work they do a big hire and once again the faithful MTs who stick by them have no work...I have been gone for over a year and it is still the same way...
But overhire/lack of work for the past few months . . . nm

NO paid holidays for us all year round. If there is any work on the holiday, you get

lines and a half, but usually there is no work.  They usually clear out the work before the holiday so there is no 1-1/2 line pay remaining.  Transtech names 6 holidays each year, but the MT takes those holidays off WITHOUT pay.    I am sure the office staff and all other non-MT staff take off WITHOUT pay, too, aren't you????   LOL

Which MT companies DO pay an MT for holidays.  I don't consider a day a HOLIDAY unless it is PAID.  They can call it 6 holdays, but have to take off without pay . . . . just another day, i.e, get sick -- NO PAY.

Webmedx work pretty low. Typical for this time of year? sm
I'm fairly new, so just wondering. Having come from the evil Q, it makes me nervous. While at the Q and a couple other companies, this is not the time of year I typically ran out of work--Christmas, T-giving, 4th of July, yes, now, no. Thanks.
Only there a year. They OVERHIRE. Out of work...
Other than that, they're great.
Concerned about the low work at WebMedx over the past few weeks. Typical for this time of year?
I've not been through a summer with them before. My main account, which always had plenty of work and occasional overtime, has been low for well over a month now. I have 2 backup accounts that are low as well. In fact, all my STM's accounts are very low volume. In all the years I've transcribed, I've never had this problem in August. It worries me more perhaps since I'm ex-MQ and consistent low work was a signal of a major downhill turn for that company. Thanks.
Left 3 months ago for lack of work
and haven't looked back.  It is just the nature of the beast than when a network of accounts change to VR and MTs are doing more lpd now, there will be less work to spread around.  There were already problems with not having enough work, so I did not wait for the transition to VR  I had already moved down over the previous year from full time to part time because of lack of work.  Glad I made the move because I am also the sole breadwinner for my household and can't afford to go without work.
I just left a company due to lack of work, Monica.

Last year PT was 600 lpd. Lack of communication & strong

I worked in acute care and left due to lack of work.
My primary was just overflow, though they didn't tell us that.  I had followed the account from another company and there should have been 3 times the work.  Every week I was asking for a new account because they kept giving me accounts that were evidently overlow or otherwise very low volume accounts and I still wasn't getting 20 hour/week.
I have heard other people comment on lack of work and have left for that reason. How much of an

issue can this be.  Also, is the sound on these accounts poor.  That is the other problems I have heard people comment on.  I was really looking for uptodate comments.  How bad are these issues at present.  I dont want to leave one company with no work problems and go to another one with the same problem.  I cant be available 24/7 to get work with having a family.

Has anyone recently left Futurenet Tech due to their lack of work over the past several weeks? nm

Left last year
I left last year after working several years for the company.  A new policy was started that resulted in a lowering of my base pay because I was a part-time employee.  The one quarter I did go full time to participate in their new profit-sharing plan my share of the profit was less than $30.  I was also bounced from account to account to accommodate other MTs.    The account managers that I had contact with were not MTs so had little understanding of our side of the business.  My QA person was very nice and helpful.
Yep, I left them after a year...
and haven't looked back since. Just wasn't a good fit for me at all...sometimes it amazes me me so many people love it there so much.
I left MQ for KS last year (sm)

I'm much happier at KS...Being out of the drama of MQ is wonderful. I also work on Meditech and have PCShorthand for my expander.  I got the license # from KS a while back.  Good luck to you!

I left them last year after only
6 months because of constantly running out of work! They said I could come back when they got busy again, guess they like to over-hire!

Good Luck!
I left last year because the work kept
running out. Sorry to hear that the situation hasn't improved--looks like I did the right thing. Oh well...
I left MQ just a year ago because of the exact (sm)

reasons you stated....I couldn't handle the changes and I lost too much money.  I worked there for 8 years and thought I would be there forever. They were a pretty good company back in the day. I waited too long too, but trust me, you made the right choice! I'm sorry you had to deal with an idiot like NotGood when you were emotional anyway about leaving MQ and just asked a simple question. I'm much happier where I am now and I wish you good luck in your new job!

i left about a year ago because i could not get production up. sm
and i felt they were cheating on lines with spaces as only half the spaces were actually counted when i calculated my info. maybe why you couldn't earn enough either?
Yup, I left a year ago myself and am very glad that I did!
HUGE waste of time. They treat their employees like dirt. It would take me about an hour to write about how horrible they are. Stay away! There are much, much better companies out there to work for!
I left a few year ago because of Rose. (nm)

Left there last year. I hated the
platform and the dictators and voice system horrible.  I was unable to make any money.  QA was a draw depending on who you got.  Good luck.
I left over a year ago. Their VR pay is terrible and
their program is cumbersome to do VR on (or it was). I heard they are going to VBC for line rate, which I have read results in a 30% reduction per line, so please keep that in mind. I left because I was running out of work with 5, maybe 7 accts. Very nice people, though.
ditto. just left MQ this year, thought i'd be
there forever, and it just got to be too much crapola. The best to your future anon; lots of us there with you!
Same thing happened to me last year. Got garbage. Left after 6 wks. Those w/

I left the field for good earlier this year
after 15 years. I'm now an ACSM certified personal trainer at Bally Total Fitness, and also have a private client. Thanks to everything I learned as a transcriptionist, I passed the very tough certification exam on the first try.

I'm still networked with my first MD client, and we refer people to each other.
My body also thanks me for not spending hours at the computer anymore. I enjoyed the work, but don't miss it at this point.

There are many ways to use what we know. If your instinct is telling you to do something else, I encourage anyone to at least explore your options.

I actually left about a year ago and work for another company that's running out of work. Have to

This round is QA
The original story was that they were just getting rid of smaller accounts, which would supposedly explain getting rid of American MTs.  They told the QA people first that some shifts were being done away with then changed it to being based on production.  There was one Editor yesterday called to work OT and when she tried to call in she couldn't, so she called tech support and when she did, she found out she had been terminated!!
Still going round and round with this
Why? Does anybody read this board before they accept a position? This subject has gone round and round and round and many people quitting and then another round of people and the same thing over and over again. However, you cannot blame it all on one company. It just so happens these are the ones that happen to recruit heavily from this board that are mentioned here. Check the archives, go back a few pages and do your research before you make a decision. Granted there may be some sour grapes out there but if you see the same thing repeatedly beware!
ROUND 2 - This is getting fun now! SM
So, if we DID have a recruiting board and I was a recruiter (or an MTSO owner, IC that needed help part-time or short-term, had a temporary position, or say I even was a hospital HR person and I said hey guys, I have the need for somebody to type some Radiology for 30 minutes a day for a week or I have a full-time opening for 10c a line for cardiology, how many of you skeptics WOULDN'T respond?  I think otherwise. I think we could use it our advantage.  We don't have to believe evreything they say; we're not looking for facts on how many of their MTs like their job, etc., we're just looking for an environment that is two-way instead of them just posting an open job and all of us expecting that they can respond in a timely manner to the 500 of us who send our resume in at one time.
SPI in another round of layoffs
Last week they announced they were dropping the smaller hospital accounts that used domestic MTs, today they emailed QA staff and had them call in on a conference call just to tell them they no longer had jobs.  So this nice big foreign company who came in and assured everyone how the company would be bigger and better only took 6 months to start weaning out all domestic staff. I wish the facilities knew this.
Well that is just silly, unless you are getting round the clock pay.
And I highly doubt that. I was a recruiter, doesn't pay all that great.
They're hiring for the next round
of MTs.
Um, yes. Gather round and let me tell you a story...

I was hired by Focus in QA, paid hourly.  I sat around for three weeks and no one contacted me about loading software, training, etc.  I emailed the person who was supposed to do my training and was told I haven't forgot about you.  I promise we will get together tomorrow.  Tomorrow would come and she wouldn't call.  Meanwhile, I'm not getting paid.  Finally, I emailed the head of HR and cc'd one of the VPs in the U.S. office.  I was told my supervisor was very sweet, but she didn't know what she was talking about when she said I would start immediately.  My supervisor then told me that she would sign off on any hours I put in the timeclock system.  For three months, I timed in and sat at my PC and waited for training that never came.  At the end of the third month, I took matters into my own hands and called the IT department directly, bugged them with email after email, and they installed the software on my PC.  I then emailed the tech department a list of accounts I wanted access to and it was given to me.  I started training myself only to be called up and fired.

Fired from a job I never actually started!  It was the most infuriating experience I have ever had with an MTSO.  I have never seen so much disorganization, outright lying, and complete disregard for their employees than I have seen with Focus.  I am not just talking about myself here.  I am also talking about a number of employees that had been with them much longer than I who had been unceremoniously fired after being hired to build a U.S. based QA dream team.

I won't go into all the empty promises that were made.  That's another bedtime story for another night.

My advice, if you have another job, hang on to it.  If you don't, starting looking.

It is on the JobSeekers board in a little round button
There are 3 and the one on teh far right is the Job Bank.
You deserve a round of applause for your post!! sm
I have been at this for almost 20 years. I work a mid size company and it is a company that is bashed quite regularly on here. However, it works for me and I love it!

I have the opportunity to work with MTs with all types of experience. I have some older MTs that I wonder what have they been doing on all these years! and I have new MTs that try their hardest, but even some of them that are trying so hard are just never going to make it.

I agree with all the whining on this board. I don't mind it (as I don't bother to read the actual post most of the time), but I hope when people read these posts that they take what is said as a grain of salt. Form your own opinion of companies, etc.

Also when you say when you are going to work, then actually DO work those hours.

Hats off to the original poster!
Has anyone who has applied for last round of Lee Perfect openings heard from them yet? nm

Other than the obvious MQ and Spheris, what companies round out the top 10 in terms of size? sm

Which offshore out of those?  I want to go with a big company for a few reasons, but I do not want MQ or Spheris.  I'm also just curious.  It seems like they are very big and the rest are much smaller.  Am I right or just assuming?  Which company or companies do you think are growing and will catch them or close?  Are there any out there that have that potential?  I would love to get in for chance for advancement but not ground level because I want stability.  Easy to know what I want, hard to articulate it clearly.  I have read previous posts, tried to research other sources and want to put together a good list for myself.

Axolotl- Are you eligible to retest if you didnt make it the first round?
It's embarrassing to have 15 years experience and not pass. I really feel it was a sound quality issue but that is just my opinion. I wondered if they gave second chances.
so typical
I wasnt fired, I left.  I did what I said, worked my shift if there was work.  I have always had good quality.  Keystrokes let me down in every way you could imagine.  I was lied to, left with no work most of the time, not given the pay they said they hired me in at on some of my checks, my pay rate as well as all other MTs was then demoted due to company problems.  I had bad checks written to me and had a hard time getting that fixed.  Not every MT was a bad MT that left Keystrokes.  Some of us are telling the truth and have every right to say what we post here.
Typical and not likely to get better.

typical
I have not heard this yet, but it is typical of the Flannery's to not share anything they absolutely don't have to until the last minute, keeping everyone in the dark, even eliminating positions without notice via e-mail. This is nothing new for them.
Okay, here is a typical day for me....
Up at 7 a.m., out walking by 7:30 a.m. for an hour, I do a rowing machine for 20 minutes and then 200 steps on a stepping machine and 3 days a week I do another 20 minutes on a treadmill, and another 3 days a week I lift weights. I eat 1500 to 1800 calories a day and I am still over 100 pounds overweight. I eat no candy, no sweets, no chips, no fast food. My thyroid is fine. So now what MISS KNOW IT ALL????? I work my butt off and I still have a huge butt, dang, I guess I am still fat by choice. Oh, and I have done this workout for 8 months now and I have lost a total of 7 pounds. So, once again, KISS MY -SS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, that is not typical. Something is very wrong.
xx
You know that is a typical response if you have
a negative comment - maybe the issue is you and you just can't cut it.  I was a great employee, it just wasn't the company for me.
Are you a typical TT MT, with that mouth???
x
This sounds like typical DSG to me...
I have been gone almost 2 years and nothing has changed...I would say move on...
That pay is not typical. They are not hiring SM
for the higher level accounts that pay well. They are hiring new people at very low rate of pay. Then you are supposed to work your way up. Actually, my sound quality is pretty good. Still don't recommend because most work goes to India.
It's the typical rate
