Iowa City, Iowa PJs
To be fair to any company in Iowa, the PJs Transcription I am referring to is out of Iowa City, Iowa.  Just thought I'd clear that up, in case there are 2 in Iowa with the same name.
Thank you:) Would that be out of Iowa?
I googled and got one in Iowa and another.
U.S. Transcription in Iowa...

I've been with them a few weeks now and it looks like I've found a new home. Hoping to meet some other MTs working there....if you're with UST and so inclined, drop me an e-mail and say hello.

Company in Iowa - sm

Since the State Board for Iowa hasn't been used since 2006 I am posting this message here.

I took a job with a company in Iowa earlier this year.  I have 2 children and have to meet her courier every morning to pick up my work which is on tapes.  I also had to buy extra insurance because according to her this is mandatory HIPPA regulation.  Then I find out that she leaves tapes in another MT's mailbox AND sends the cassette files (digitally somehow) to MTs that live 20+ miles away.  I'm only making a little over .06/line and getting my children ready every morning can be a chore.  Meanwhile, this woman takes more vacations and has diamonds on all fingers.  Today will be my last day.  She should be ashamed of herself for treating her MT's like that.  We are the ones that pay for her vacations and diamonds.  Can anyone say Greeeeeeeeeeeeed?

Companies in Iowa
There is also a company in Dubuque, named US Transcription, that hire at-home transcriptionists. Good luck to you.
Work in Iowa
Hi Lydia, transcription jobs are kind of hard to find to do at home but there is a company in Ankeny that will let you transcribe from home.  I worked for a national and there are many nationals that will hire you to work from home.  There are a lot of offices and medical facilities that will hire transcriptionists to work on site.  Good luck!  :)
If you are in Iowa City
I highly recommend The University.  Further information available upon request.
Any information on US Transcription out of Iowa?....sm
I have looked on several boards and just cannot find out any information on them.  Anyone currently work for them or have in the past?  I just want to know any pros or cons.  They seem very nice, just would like to know any current opinions on them.  Thanks.

Any advice for a newbie in Iowa?
Just moved to Iowa and having a hard time finding employment outside of my home.  I've done transcription for 15+ years and recently moved to Iowa.  I'm thinking about applying to some jobs here but have never worked from home.  Any advice?  Lydia
I work for a small company in Iowa

The woman that owns the company is crazy.  She treats physical therapy like it's acute care.  They are office visit notes and she acts like they are Op notes and the doctor is breathing down her back waiting for them to be typed.  The physical therapist could care less ------- it's an exercise class lady - get over it.  At 6 cpl she wants a miracle.

from my hometown DeWitt, Iowa, weird!

University of Iowa Med Center announced layoffs yesterday
I think the news report said they were getting rid of 130 people now, a total of 200 this year. Fortunately (their word, not mine), they're not going to have to make any cuts in people who have patient contact but in administrative areas (that'd be us). Truthfully, I'm not sure if they even still have in-house transcriptionists, but you know that if they do, they'll be the first to get their marching papers.
