I have to say that the VR/speech recognition account that Spheris has is half VR, half non-speech or Transcriptionist work. This is a large account. It is all acute care. If you want to transcribe for the account, you MUST AGREE to train for speech recognition. But I agree that it is very expensive and that is a long, long time down the road to worry about. The doctors DO NOT KNOW that they are dictating into a VR/speech recognition system. It's one dictation system, and VR is just a part of it. If their voice is easy to understand, it goes to speech, if not, it remains non-speech. I like being a non-speech MT!!
