When there is more than enough work and extra help is needed, everyone should be pitching in, and I do. But, if there is little to no work, I think an MT should ask permission to do over their lines. Another thing I always do. Even when there is adequate work, if I want to work a day that I have scheduled off, I always check first. I don't think it is fair to do over your lines when there simply isn't enough work to begin with.
