What is cpl?

This may sound stupid, but what does "11 cpl" mean?  I am thinking it means 11 cents per character per line, but I'm not sure how that works.  I am currently paid hourly plus incentive so I'm not sure how that calculates out. I'm thinking of going to a national MT company where I can work anywhere in the US and it seems they all pay with this "cpl."  Can anyone explain this??  Thank you in advance.....
