What is great money to you may not be to all.

8 cpl is not a whole lot. Can you average a whole lot of lines per hour on their typing program?

Your money is not that great

Do you think you are all high and mighty all of a sudden because you told us what you make?  Do you think the rest of us here are unemployed losers?  Several MTs make that and more, including myself.  Get over youself and your average MT salary.  How much you made last year isn't the point and you are continuing to make a fool of yourself.  The point is we want to continue to make money.  Quit digging yourself a deeper hole and quit trying to justify your pathetic point of view.  Yawn!

I get paid great money being an MT - sm
If you aren't happy with where you are, look elsewhere or get your own accounts.  There IS money to be made; keep looking.
I make great money there
I do not do radiology, but ER and basic 4, and I make 10 cpl, have tons of work, and make a great living there. That is just my own experience. Others may have had different experiences there.
Okay what is great money? $2000-3000 a PP
TIA
I would go with the great money account personally. SM
Would mind sharing the name of the company or are you IC?
I work at DDS and love it. Make great money!

Doing great! Made more money in one week at TT than I did in a whole month
at previous job!
I recommend Keystrokes too. I make great money, have a lot of work and have sm
been around the block a time or two.

I have worked for them for 6 months but had worked for them previously (in 2003). I left for several reasons but all of them have been resolved. I think a big part of the improvement is due to direct deposit and the office. When I worked for them before, the owner ran things from her home office but now there is an office that has a lot (not sure how many) people in it and I can get answers and help quickly when I need it.

I think that they had some growing pains but resolved them. I know that they are still growing, even faster than ever from what my lead tells me. If you have a lot of hospital experience, they are hiring for two new accounts and need good MTs.

Amherst so we make less money and they get more money for MQ and bigger bonuses. Our guidelines came
from Amherst.
The company takes the money out of your salary, before they cut the check. It is your earned money,

So does yours. Perhaps you need a basic money class to learn to keep money. sm
I am off today and appalled at reading the posts on here.

Are you always this bitter? Do you have a family and friends who are safe and healthy? Count your blessings instead of being so angry and you might see that this is not a bad field to be in. It has kept food on my table for 27 years and will continue to do so. Is it harder now? You bet, but it is not impossible to make a good living of $50,000. You just have to work hard, give it your all and appreciate the good companies that are out there.

If I were an MTSO, I would find out who all these people posting such bitter posts are and find replacements for them a.s.a.p. Negativity spreads like poison, and with the world in the state it is, we should bond together not make it worse.
Money is not the root of all evil, the LOVE of money is. nm

Great company, great boss, great account!!!nm

System great, pay good, everything great, but most managers from old Edix, problems, poor people ski
when you are out of work, you are out of luck. If you are good at brown-nosing, are tough enough to be without any self-esteem, and have maybe money coming into the household on the side in case you tick someone off, then you may succeed, for a little while.

Don't ever ask questions or have problems with anything. Don't ever have a problem. Don't think you will have any control over anything you do, either.

A few 'good' managers remained when I left, but the new ones were all from the old Edix, and were completely into numbers, cared nothing for individual MTs...if there is work, you BETTER be working. If there no work, you will hear nothing, no one will help you.
You are pathetic! I have a great life, loving family, work for a great company.
You might want to fix that.

You really don't have to shout (angry person), but yes you are wrong!!

That is my last word to you!

I will add that getting a great pay check every other Friday from Medware really puts a huge smile on my face.
Oracle is great. Bayscribe is wonderful great line counts.
The trainer at OTI will always answer any questions about the platform and if you have any problems they have already worked them out, so just ask. Good luck!
Loved Alltype! Great management and great accounts.
wah  -  i miss it there!
It's a great company -- lots of work and great pay. sm

AXOLOTL - A GREAT COMPANY WITH GREAT INSURANCE
Axolotl has AWESOME, AFFORDABLE insurance.  Family plan medical and dental costs a little over $300.00 MONTHLY.  They also pay for family plan vision in its entirety.  STD, LTD, 401K with match and flex spending account, great PTO and HOLIDAY pay.  OH and paid downtime in the case you run out of work, which doesn't happen often!!!
Great pay, great benefits for 11+ years..sm
I've just started with this great company (eMTS).  I have 11+ years of experience and I was started at .10 per line as a regular employee, not IC, with a huge sign-on bonus, full benefits, very nice people, and a good account.  So far, this is the best experience I've had in my years as a transcriptionist.  Unfortunately, I don't believe they're hiring more right now, but you could always check in with them, they're online at eMTS.com.  The management seems to really care and they work with you.
Great company, great boss....

I use to work there.  The dictators on my account were really good.  They use Emdat/Inscribe.  Pay on 1st and 15th by direct deposit.

That''s great and I've heard they pay great as well.
I just have heard a lot of adjectives for a few accounts - zinger, killer, impossible, etc., and I sure know I couldn't hack it there. But I'm sure they know what they are getting into when they sign up.
Great little company..I worked there for a short time, IC, and pay always on time, great owner too!
I had good dictators, they use FTP, and I had a 12-hour window to return the work.
Started small; great company. Rapid growth; not so great company
First year I was there was like heaven. Then the big growth spurt when they hired managers from another company (that I had run away from before because of their bad management) and let them kind of take over. Although I have no proof it was as though I got 'bumped' by these new people when they came in and I lost a good account, good manager, etc. My paycheck went down every month lower and lower, and it became harder and harder to make my minimal lines. Having any kind of advocate was nonexistent.

It depends on you and what kind of MT you are. Seems to me there are pretty much 2 types...

Sports like basketball where you have the pros who play with finesse, and then you have street players who think it is all about physical strength, period. More and more the physical strength is winning but the art of the game gets lost more and more...

As in this country where there are almost 2 sides now, those with intellect and thoughtfulness, and those who think the only way to be strong and be a leader is to beat up everyone who does not agree with you...and force your will on others.

Suffice it to say in my opinion WMX changed its philosophy of the way it treated employees and lost its heart when it grew, and it was literally almost overnight...

If you are a mass producer who has no care of what it takes to make money, if you are a 'street fighter' then it would probably be for you because you WILL have to fight for everything. Fight for the right account, fight for lines, fight to be treated fairly, etc. If you appreciate MTing for the art of MTing or have any kind of joy for the profession, my guess is you will not make it there very long...

This is happening all throughout the what used to be called profession. Seems to happening all through everything these days. Humanity and heart are being pushed down to the bottom...
Great pay rate on a 55 ccl, great lady to work for and work is not tough. sm

It is all IC work, although you still are expected to give a schedule if you are doing stat coverage.  Only major drawback is the big wait for your first check -- almost a month from the time of your first invoice.

Good luck!

Wow - you all have given me great, great things .. sm
to think about and consider. I know myself well enough that I realize I don't always things through well enough before acting.

I do appreciate everyone's comments - both pro and con. This is exactly why I decided to ask for opinions. Thanks so much for not laughing at me and just saying that a hospital job is always the way to go. I'm pretty sure that I'll apply, and I already feel better prepared. You all are great!
Yep, they get great lines and great QA
yeah I see your point - because all the crap dictations go to everyone else :( Kind of makes steam come out of your ears doesn't it LOL
you might be right on the money
If you think about it, they're sleazy and undermining enough to do something like that, cover their behinds.  They better hurry up and drop the bomb, with the lack of work people are leaving.  Come on MQ, screw us over already and get it done with.
money
I only made 7.6 cpl and that was clinic transcription (with 6 years experience at that). I was told there were no raises per se, but would be eligible for bonuses ($100) a time or two per year. That was earlier this year. I didn't stay with them long because more money came along.
If $184 for self only, that is a LOT of money.

More Money?
I thought I posted this a couple of days ago, but now that I'm looking for it, I don't see it.  Anyway, I'd like opinions please.  I've been working for a small MTSO for almost a year.  I love the company and the work.  When I first started working for them, they told me up front that they will only pay so much per line because they are a smaller company.  I said that was fine.  It was not a bad starting rate.  Now that I've been with them for a little while, I feel like I would like to ask for an increased line rate.  Is that wrong of me to do since they told me up front they will only pay so much?
No money
I've seen them put me on 7 different accounts Sat and today and put on bad dictators that just keep on coming.  That is definitely cherrypicking.  Just not making it with this company and have spent 6 months trying.  Need to move on.
Not enough money
No kidding..it is really sad, seems that the faster I go, the less lines I have!  I can' believe it. It is totally unsatisfactory to work so hard, sit for so long, to make peanuts.
Yep, right on the money
nm
Did you ever get your money from her?
I hope so.
Way too low...more money in MT - nm
x
Do you have your money though? That's SM
the question.  If you do, great.  If you've been told it's coming, then I guess I wouldn't consider the matter resolved until I had the money.
More money
I think I make more money working at home. I have never seen an on-site MT position that paid more than $18/hour and I make way beyond that. You probably have some stability working on site, but I wouldn't trade my flexibility for anything!!
NEVER put out money to get a job.
.
Yes she is, and for my money,
she's great!
How to get your money sm
Call the IRS on her and tell her you are really an employee. She will have to pay your SS for however long you worked there.... also for money owed, get a judgment against her and put a lien on what she owns.

They do not pay. They still owe me money! nm

nn

Not only did they take your money
for better conventions, they took (or helped facilitate to go) much of our work right out of the country to India and the Philippines.
Not a lot of money for me yet
I've not been lucky enough to find a great company to work for yet and I am now three years in and have had steady work. I make $12,000, mostly via VR. I would like to make double that and I think that would be enough.

I have tried testing for other companies and don't seem to test well enough on their computerized transcription tests. I do wish companies would give a few directions as to what they want on those tests because I am probably stuck in the mode of the specs my current company wants. I think that might be, at least in part, why I don't test as well.

I was recently hospitalized and am starting to get some serious copays to pay. Not being AIG, a car maker or banker, there certainly will not be a bailout or stimulus package for me. Maybe I should start trying to win the pot of gold from the powerball thing.

Whatever happened to just good honest decent employment opportunities in exchange for a good honest day's work? That's what I'd like to find.

I am glad many of you do well in MT. When I find the right place, I believe I will too and am looking forward to that day because I actually do need a job where I can work from home for a number of reasons.

Good luck to all.
