I come from tapes and Selectrics just like you do. I live in a rural area just like you do. Unlike you, I work a schedule, make a great paycheck, am not tied to my computer 24/7, have plenty of work and have a life after transcription.

There are thousands of American MTs out there working. I would gather there are less than 100 that actually comment on this board, so I think happy MTs are the majority. Happy to have a job, happy to work at home, etc, etc.

Have things changed in the last 5 to 10 years, absolutely, but show me an occupation that hasn't. I choose to roll with the punches and not be miserable.
