Wow, that's awful! I recently moved to another state and they have a WF here sm

and I had thought of opening an account there, thinking it was a big national bank and might be the best bet -- thanks for the heads up!  I certainly do not need those kinds of headaches.

They recently moved to another office.
One of my friends who was recently hired was about to train, but that did not push through as the network was still quite down and the telephone line changed.

I have been working with them for almost two months now.

At first I had lots of files to work on (thanks to a new account they recently just acquired). Nowadays, they are a-trickling! Maybe I should ask for another account.
Unless something has changed, health insurance rates vary state by state, so we may not have the
info you need.  I'm an IC so I don't have benefits.
You are correct. The state that rules is the state the employee lives in.
My state laws has is spelled out in their Code. If another state does not withhold, they are fined heavily and if they don't withhold for years, their fines are pretty bad. I worked for a Florida co that did not withhold income tax for my state even after I brought it to their attention in the state code. They kept saying that they would eventually and never did. After two plus years and when I left, I made it known to my state all the conversations, the state refunded me all late fees they charged me and then said they were going after the company in Florida because they had many employees in our state. They deserved it. They knew better.
The state you live in or the state where the MTSO is located? nm
nm
According to a friend, awful, awful,
Low pay, bad accounts etc..
If company is in state that has no state taxes
they are not required to take out state taxes.  It's enough to keep up with your own state tax law code, could you imagine having to stay abreast of 49 other state tax codes?  The cost would be huge and ultimately passed on to us by lower line rates.  Regardless of who owes the tax, someone has to pay it.  Just a matter of convenience I guess.
Not state by state, federal labor law - sm
and you don't have to be asked. If you work it, asked or not, they have to pay time and a half OT rate for hours worked over 40 in a week.

Taken right from U.S. Dept of Labor -
An employer who requires or PERMITS an employee to work overtime is generally required to pay the employee premium pay for such overtime work. Employees covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)MUST receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek of at least one and one-half times their regular rates of pay. The FLSA does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest.

Extra pay for working weekends or nights is a matter of agreement between the employer and the employee (or the employee's representative). The FLSA does not require extra pay for weekend or night work or double time pay.

Different state to state. You would be surprised to find

IC can be defined differently state to state.  Even the IRS cannot come up with a definitive set of rules.  You would be surprised how many ICs actually get unemployment in some states.  If the unemployment claim form asks specifically if you are an independent contractor, do not lie, but if it does not, do not volunteer it.  Let the company prove you are a true IC according to the rules of your state.  All you lose is a few minutes filling out the claim form.  I would only do it as a last resort.  If you can find work fast, by all means go for it, but the way things are now with all the VR and off-shoring, it is a backup if you cannot find work.  No one should go hungry because they are afraid to file for Unemployment as an IC.

They should take out state taxes for the state
nm
It varies from state to state
nm
Varies from state to state
My own state recognizes partial unemployment, too, when your work gets cut down to half of your regular workload/income.
Have not moved around a lot
I have not jumped around a lot, worked for MRC when they were around years ago, then Medifax and Speris when it was Edix, now work for a small MTSO. Am happy but no benefits, no incentive, get paid the same as a new hire just out of school, kind of depressing.
Ask to be moved to something else...
I have heard the same thing about BeyondTXT. It seems like two different worlds.
how have you moved on if you are here....try
nm
I have moved on
and kept looking for other employment, but I didn't know if I needed to email her officially quitting or what (how ridiculous after all this time...).  I signed an IC contract, so I didn't know if that means I'm bound to anything.  I don't know how this works!!  Anyway, I'll just let it go and continue moving on - thank you everyone for the replies!!
I do believe they all moved now.
x
Yes, she moved

out of state of Alabama.

Wow...you just moved yourself to the top...
of many people's NO WAY list.

Oh, and your confidentiality disclaimer probably doesn't stop her from distributing if she was the intended recipient.

Mine was moved to an IRA and then
I just moved it to my new company from there when I became eligible to get one from the new place.  Wasn't a problem at all.
If you have moved on, why are you still on this board? nm
mm
All the reasons I moved on
Gotta eat and like to actually get in touch with people.
I think she moved from Alabama, not sure...nm
xxxxx
just moved SS to the top of my list
If the word lie or liar was never implied, then what exactly did you mean when you wrote this in your earlier post:

Your original posting was filled with untruths

What exactly were you implying when you wrote that?

When I was there they ran out on all shifts, so I moved on. NM
x
Would this be DSG? Certainly what I noticed with the DQS software there. I moved on. nm
n
Wow! That's great....I think I just moved Amphion

to the top of my list!  Thanks!!

I have friends who used to work for FN and moved on. sm
FN has more than their share of ESLs and you very well know it.  You are not only snippy, as someone said, you are condescending and misleading.
This is not true. This thread was moved. (SM)
This thread belongs on the Company board and it was moved. However, in moving messages all replies are automatically deleted by the software.

Goldbird
I know of someone that had a very negative experience with them and moved on right away. nm
s
It's a shame when a post gets moved
to another board/correct board - that posts made to it in the meantime are lost.  I've seen good replies lost that way. :(
You moved me from the main, to here, now I'm Lost! NM
nm
Is it possible your posts were moved to a different board? nm
x
Actually now these posts have moved to the top 1/2 of page
s
It just means it was moved to the appropriate board. nm
nm
I actually moved the monitor closer
.
I moved to Transtech and couldn't be
:)
We don't have the pool any longer- we moved

A Mexican family.  So, I'm not paying for anything.  The pool installers were American and lazy, broke the filter, and took all day and night and brought theird kids to play on my swing set and requested soda.  The Mexican landscapers required no water, did not ask to use my toilet, and were done in one-half day with a lot of digging and a lot of stone work that would have taken a lot longer if they didn't work as hard as they did in the blazing sun.  The American installers did nothing but cuss, moan, and complain about the heat.

As far as healthcare, we'll be paying more anyway once Hillary gives everyone who can't afford healthcare, free healthcare.  Too bad, Americans are too lazy to work harder and smarter.  I'm all American, born and raised, and I work very hard, but hey if the foreign entity comes along (like it did on my hospital job) and says they can do it cheaper, then what can I do?

Mine experience was the same..so I moved on...
nm
Alltype moved all account to VR
x
Unless Oschner moved to Bangalore, no.. that is not the case.
x
I just do it as a second job so I don't get rusty. I've moved on to a completely different car
x
Yes to Shorthand. I transfered mine when I moved over to KS from MQ. nm
nm
Yes..it is the same person/company. Guess they moved

Check This out.

There is a lot of negatives in the archives, moving to another state doesn't change that.

I think that really does explain it! I bet those accounts will be moved by December though. nm
nm
I am happy for you that your accounts have not been moved to Beyondtxt yet! sm
I will be interested to here your opinion of the software when they are moved over in a few months.
I moved this post to the Company board. NM

They must deduct FEDERAL taxes.. NOT STATE taxes.. if they took out state taxes.. it would be FLORID
which would only have to be refunded to you for you to pay YOUR state what you owe them which is nothing but a pain... be glad they weren't handling your state tax.. and I think in this case.. if someone at the IRS told you they have to deduct YOUR states taxes.. it is that person who is uneducated... they only have to deduce federal income tax

Keystrokes BOUGHT an office rather than renting, moved
less than 20 miles away, kept the same phone number and sent out the address changes after settled in. What is wrong with that? Do we need to keep everyone in on every detail? If so, I should tell you that we added 14 phone lines to the dictation system.

Management has only added people and changed TWO in FOUR years. What company, in and out of transcription, has the same management team in place forever? People move on to other companies, other careers, take time off, etc.

No wonder the owners tell us all just to ignore the boards; some of the posts are ridiculous.

Just as an aside so you know the proper terminology, a transcriber is a machine; transcriptionists are the humans.
Not anymore. I think the nuts have moved on and the owner is less stressed now. I see a sm
a much calmer atmosphere this time around. I've been back just over a year and it is night and day from four years ago.
Must be MDI-FL. Has its moments. Either too much work or not enough. No happy medium there. Moved on
No thanks.
I moved MANY times, but it was because I was single and on a budget, not because I was irresponsible
I lived in 5 different addresses in 4 years. If my rent went up, I moved. If my roommates and I couldn't get along, I moved. When the apartment had a pervy landlord, I moved. There were very valid reasons for not keeping the same addy, and they had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with my responsbility. Then again, I had the same job throughout that whole time, which any recruiter would see from my RESUME that I gave them. No need to go nosing into my credit hx.
