I may be wrong, but I believe employment laws vary by state. What I've been told is that the ultimate decision whether to rehire me back into the MT department can be made by the MT supervisor. Even if they are aggressively recruiting, she can still turn me down if she feels my attendance will not be reliable as before. The best I can do is talk with HR and see if my doctors can help. Otherwise, I think the hospital realizes there are plenty of non-MT positions available and I should enter back into one of those. I love the MT work, however, and also appreciate the excellent pay. My best hope is to to contact HR and perhaps arrange an in-person meeting to show my dedication.
