I like the company too,but I just got more answers before
I had a team leader that never seems to know the answers. I solved that - I just don't ask questions.  I do miss not talking to Sue, Liz, and Deb, though.
from now on i'll go straight to the company website. sm
i didn't realize a simple question would stir up some negative comments.  i find the comment about the IQ very insulting and unnecessary.
sarcasm
I have to agree with the other poster - you drip with sarcasm. Probably explains why you are so happy at OSI. Nice that you found your niche.
Sarcasm
I am glad someone got it!
No need for the sarcasm
I do not rely on drugs (legal or otherwise) for my peace of mind. And as to TranSCAM, I have warned people away from them for years, knowing them only by reputation. Chill.
It wasn't sarcasm
It was sympathy, but I then again, I guess shouldn't have depended on you to know the difference.
I think sarcasm is the only way to deal
not Happy OSi'er....but another OSi'er who is happy
Huh? No sarcasm. Seriously out of work.
x
Sarcasm aside, they may actually not charge for them.
I've not been privy to the mgmt/marketing end of this biz in a few years, but I can totally see someone promoting you don't pay for blank space to customers.
Sarcasm has nothing to do with truth
Giving information that will lead a newbie to a toxic company is not helpful. End of story.
Wow, I didn't see any sarcasm, just being helpful.
?
Sarcasm. I knew I should not have bothered to answer. nm

Not sure why the negativity and sarcasm ... kinda sounds like the old

lover scorned thing ... LOL.   No company can probably say that it never runs out of work, but I have 2 accounts, and have only had to go to my secondary account maybe 10 times in the almost 1 year I have been there now.  At least the management team at TT cares.  I have worked for companies where I ran out of work, and the response I got was a laugh and just take the day off.   At least TT will get you another account.

As far as your remark alluding to the fact that if we were so busy working, we wouldn't be here -- do you work 24/7?  Also, TT is not a sweatshop.  We are allowed breaks.

Maybe you had a bad experience with them.  No company is a great fit for everyone, that's for sure.  I have seen people rave about companies on here, tried them myself, and thought YUCK.

It is only 6 am and my shift doesn't start until 4p, but I guess I shouldn't be posting here since apparently it implies that TT has no work ... LOL.

Maybe you'll get your mortgage paid that way! (sarcasm) nm

Sorry - I was making a feeble attempt at sarcasm.

Hafta laff -- SM thinks she's quite the master of sarcasm.

I would not call it sarcasm, it sounds more like 'gallow humor'...nm

Let me get this straight
I would guess this relates to the post about changing jobs on people without notice.  Interesting to me that Heartland had a pitiful reputation here and they at least gave people some notice.    I don't think I will be calling Medware.  I can't afford for a company to take my job away in less than a week.
Ha! S/B look them straight in the EYE when getting
lied to. I am a good judge of people face-to-face, but I really feel the lying recruiters or HR dept or whomever get away with it a lot easier cause we are not face-to-face. Might make it less painful for them to live with themselves as well. They don't have to see the hurt and horror they cause in our lives. Mind you - I can handle any and all ESLs, etc, and any work type, but its the misrepresentation that burns me. Tell me upfront the garbage I'll be transcribing, and then show me that garbage during my early days - don't lie and deceive me.
Let me see if I got this straight --

1.  The recruiter hired you and knew that you hadn't done acute care in a while.

2.  The recruiter told you that the account manager would be made aware of this and take the time to train you on acute care.

3.  The account manager then rips you a new one and basically fires you.

4.  Now, the same recruiter wants you to call this account manager and explain it to her.

Shouldn't the recruiter have done #4 herself and had the account manager call you to apologize?  Sorry, but I gotta say forget this company.  Take the 4-hour loss on the training as a lesson learned and move on.

I get 6.5 for SR and 10 for straight, but that is not what

GETTING IT STRAIGHT
I finally got the straight scoop on this.  My friend said that the recruiter interviewed her initially, followed a few days later, after testing, by a supervisor.  She said that both of them were very formal and rather abrupt, not very personable.  My friend asked the second caller/supervisor about the situation with the supervisor with the bad behavior causing MTs to quit, which was posted a week or so ago here at mtstars; apparently, this supervisor denied knowing anything about that.  However, my friend said that it seemed to her that the supervisor on the phone call was likely the very one that had caused the trouble.  My friend declined the position.
No, 4 for VR and 8 for straight but
the biggest part of my work now is VR. I love it myself, just do not want to work fulltime.
Get it straight.
Please be careful when you are in the interview.
Be prepared to lose your job if you are identified and your picture is taken. Those who work at the Q must remember Linda Perdue. Whistle blowers generally do not fare well and this is something you have to deal with before you do the interview. While this is information that the public needs and deserves to know you are placing yourself in harm's way job wise. Write the body of your piece yourself and tell the reporter that you want to see her final copy before it goes to print. Do not sign anything to hold them harmless. Be as generic as you can be .. national companies do not want negative publicity .. remember Brokovitch .. be smart and listen to every word they say to you carefully before you answer and ask them to repeat so that you know what is going on. Maybe you can tape the interview. Good luck to you.
Let me get this straight...
Because the OP randomly, out of the blue, posted for we 'TT cheerleaders' to LEAVE THIS BOARD AND GO WHERE WE BELONGED, that wasn't antagonistic and bullying, in your esteemed opinion? Taking it upon herself to instruct other posters to go elsewhere because we have a different opinion than that which SHE holds? OMG, lololololol!!!

Talk about hilarious...No wonder people like you are so resistive to learning anything new. You like to set your own rules as you go along and obviously do not play well with others.

As other posters below have said, if you're going to bully other posters around who disagree with you by calling them liars or accusing them of being management in disguise, and attempt to trash-talk TT for moving forward with VR, then good riddance to the lot of you.

But no other poster is going to tell ME to go somewhere else because I disagree with her. I don't believe anyone died and left her in charge. Those of you whining may outnumber those of us supporting TT, but that does NOT mean you are the ones in charge. That is the job of the MTStars Moderator, not some random siveling poster.
Let me get this straight. You are an MT SM
experienced with this account and you are on probation for 3 months? You help train the other MTs, give samples, etc., and you are on probation? Should be the other way around.
It seems even with straight
you are having your problems with the brain fog.
So let me get this straight...sm
It is my understanding that we get to keep...free and clear...our current computer that Amphion provided us in the beginning. Do we have to return the foot pedal? Are they going to remove the virus protection we currently have on our computers and we must provide our own? The email was kinda confusing...Thanks!
This is straight MT sm
and yes, she is on a power trip. She is new and didn't read any of the instructions given to her.
let me see if I have got this straight..s/m
So anyone who has anything positive to say is going to be management, or a company hack, as you called it?

I really don't think that is fair at all.

I personally have had a very positive experience with Transcend since the merger with my prior employer from earlier this year. Yes I was a little concerned about the outsourcing thing, but I have resigned myself to that it is a fact of life in this field anymore, and as long as companies think that they can get away with it cheaper, than that is just the way things are going to be.

So am I a company hack then, because I am not going to bash the company? No. I am an MT just like the rest of you, and have been in this field for quite a few years.

I am a bit younger than the median age for the industry, but I came into MT when I couldn't do anything else due to physical limitations and a desire to work in the medical field.

I make enough money (even with some VR work) to support two children and 2 adults on just my MT income.

I understand that not everyone will have the same experience with a company, but I do not think it is fair to bash someone or insist they must be lying because their experience was different then yours, or you don't agree with what they are saying.

And as to outsourcing to India being cheaper, I used to work for a local MTSO that was on the small side, maybe 10 MTs. They used to send some work to India when they would get more in a day than we could get finished, and I can tell you without a doubt that it cost them more to send the work overseas than it did for it to be done domestic. For the domestic MTs, there was no QA per se, but if we had a problem, we could have one of the other MTs listen, or the owner of the company would listen and see if she could fill in the blank.

The work sent overseas had to be listened to verbatim, and they had to pay someone to do that. It would on average, cost them almost 4 cents a line more to have work done overseas.

Okay coming down off of my soapbox now,
Let me get this straight...
If you were making 7.5-8, you will now be making 5.6 cpl or less for straight typing? Is this correct? If so, I am very sorry. I just can't imagine them making that drastic of a cut. Terrible.

They do overstaff with incompetent people, run out of work, then lose accounts to other companies. They didn't care if I starved, so I left. My accuracy rate was near perfect. Don't know what their problem is.
Well that answers everything!

Software is free, yes they have a word expander. They do not, however, pay for spaces and it is based on a 65 character line. The manager I spoke with and the hiring person were very very nice, but the training lady was extremely rude, short, and acted like it was just killing her to even set up training. It was because of the training lady I didn't accept the PT job with them.

Their benefits were okay as well.

Yes. I have a fairly steady supply of work. I haven't run out of work in a long time. A few years anyway. Sometimes it's low but I haven't completely run out.

As far as flexibility. They are pretty flexible as long as you don't abuse it and let your team leaders know what is going on. If you have to leave in the middle of a shift you should let them know when you are leaving and when you will be back.

After all, they still have to cover STATs and when someone isn't working when they should be, they will have to scramble to find someone to do STATs when they come up.

Unfortunately, they are tightening the reins a little bit on the flexibility because some people abuse it. I haven't had any trouble though.

Some answers for you.
StenTel is a franchise organization. Someone buys a franchise from them and then run it pretty much as they choose. When I worked for StenTel out of Springfield , Massachusetts (who designed the StenTel system and then began the franchise), the pay was low and work sporadic. I don't know of all of their franchises offshore or not, but if they do, then you can bet the work will be only the very toughest reports and nasty dictators. The office I worked for only hired IC status, but like I said, each franchise is run differently.

No equipment rental fee - new Dell with flatscreen (nice equipment) and they provide foot pedal.  Need DSL or cable - they do not reimburse.  All internet based.  I do acute care, so don't know about radiology.  Line rate for acute care is not the highest, but there is a good incentive.  I believe the pay is biweekly but not sure (I am an employee of the hospital through Diskriter, so I get paid directly from the hospital and pay dates are different).
Some answers -
Part-time with them, I believe, is anything less than 32 hours. I don't know how they handle IC, but would venture to say they would not require anything of you the Dept. of Labor would frown upon. There are 2 platforms, one is Merit (very easy to learn and user-friendly); the other, I believe, is ExText, but I don't know anything about it. I do not know of ANY account they have that uses VR.

HTH. Good luck.

I am new to the company, working on neuro, Touchtype platform, and seem to be pretty slow due to entering demographics, switching from screen to screen to enter and find information such as doctor name, patient number, etc, etc, etc. I was wonder if Vscript was better and it sounds like it is. Maybe I should ask them about that.

Are you on the east coast? I am in OK. Kinda' rainy here today.
answers

My supervisor is in Louisville.  My account is in California.

I've never faxed anything to them so I don't know if they have a fax #.  I pasted my resume in an email and sent it to them.

Good luck.

Most of the stuff you have already read probably still holds true. Spaces are included in pay, headers are not. Pay depends on if you work part time or full time and your experience, etc. As far as I know, all accounts are acute care and they also have radiology. No set schedule, you just commit to a certain number of lines a day and you have to finish them some time during that day.
Answers for you...sm
5 cpl for editing. Very user friendly. The program counts lines and you can check this at any time.

I worked for OSi for a time, it has been a while now but I did notice that it was harder than heck to get lines there. I would have to type over 50 reports (clinic) to get my line counts in, at the company I am with now it only takes 20-30 reports to get my lines in for the day. I heard people say it in the past but when I asked questions I never got answers. So, needless to say I no longer work for OSI

Keystrokes:
1. Unicare

2. Depends on account (I use Meditech)

3. YES!

4. 1200 lines a day, 0.095 per line.

5. Very, very rarely. I have a back-up account but have only had to go to it twice, and once because they asked for extra help.

IMPORTANT TO ME: They do not send work out of the country. They care about their employees. My checks are correct and on time via direct deposit.

Your current employ will remain as is.  Always tossed around to different accounts.  I have worked for another company (neither one of the aforementioned) and have never even been trained on a secondary account, let alone 9 or 10 others.  There is money to be made!!

answers
When I worked there, the account I was on the demo information was almost completely filled in beyond the date of the exam, but yes, that is what is meant by too much demo info to fill in (pt. name, date, time, dr., etc.).

She's a great person to work for, Emdat is pretty easy to work in, and I think you could make decent money there as an IC if you wanted too, by using normals and a short-hand program, although the pay is on the low side, IMO. I went with my higher-paying second IC job because my MTSO offered me full-time work and I didn't really want 2 jobs at the time, but I'd go back if I needed too.

Their new platform leaves much to be desired. We can't look at old reports like we could the old system and as of yet can't even check line counts throughout the day. They are supposedly working on getting the line counts to work with the new platform AnyModal Edit, but they have been saying that for months. Right now they email us line counts the next day, but they are accurate. I was more productive on their old platform of CTS - so basically not terribly happy with the new platform, but it could be worse.

They are an honest company. Pay is accurate and on time. They aren't for everyone, but are worth giving a try in my opinion.
