I would take the IC position myself, although you may want to try to negotiate to get a higher line rate (you can do that).   I work full time for a hospital and part-time as an IC for extra $$.  I like being an IC for the second job, because you have much more flexibility with scheduling.  I can work more or less, whatever suits me at that time.  As an employee you will probably be locked into some sort of schedule.  I have an extra $25 taken out each pay from my full time job to cover taxes. That usually covers it, or at least comes close for the federal taxes.  Don't forget that you can take deductions as an IC also.
