the word is not the relevant point. what matter is this: as an independent I do not have to say when I will work or how much I will do on any given day. Being independent gives me that choice; not the company. when they ask or expect any commitment or estimate or whatever on time or lines, then they should be paying an employee. that's the IRS rule.
