Very few of them respond. I found one that liked my work and hired me. Out of 15 or so that I applied to. And these were all companies that advertised openings. I think they just get a whole lot of applicants for each opening.
As to your question about the offshoring, I know a lot of people vehemently disagree with me, but I personally can't afford to be picky about it. I have to keep the roof over my head and food in my cats' mouths (my version of kids.) Yes, the off shoring is bad and evil and all that stuff, but having a high moral view about it doesn't get the bills paid. I would take the job and continue to try to find one that meets your moral values.
I see a lot of negativity and a depressed out look on this board, but I truly believe that everything is cyclical. The doctors will realize that offshoring is not the be all and end all that they think it is and some of this work will come back to the people who actually know what they're doing. I hope so, anyway. I like this job enough to stick it out and see if that happens.
